Sarah Palin: 'Waterboarding Is How We'd Baptize Terrorists' If I Were In Charge

The Huffington Post | by Mollie Reilly
Posted: 04/27/2014 1:33 pm EDT

Sarah Palin wants terrorists to know how the United States would deal with them if she were president.

Speaking Saturday at the National Rifle Association's "Stand And Fight" rally at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate accused the Obama administration of instating counterterrorism policies that "coddle adversaries."

"Come on. Enemies, who would utterly annihilate America, they who'd obviously have information on plots, to carry out Jihad. Oh, but you can't offend them, can't make them feel uncomfortable, not even a smidgen," she said. "Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we'd baptize terrorists."

Saturday's rally was part of the NRA's annual meeting, which drew thousands to Indianapolis.

During her speech, Palin focused on Second Amendment rights, which she said liberals are "attacking" in addition to the United States' "foundational values and tradition." According to Palin, creating gun-free zones in schools and other public buildings is "stupid on steroids."

"Maybe our kids could be defended against criminals on the spot if more Mama Grizzlies carried," she said. "And [the] Obama administration wants you ID'd for that? Well, then go ahead and carry a sign too. A sign that says 'Yeah, I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.'"

Why do you say that? Are you fearful of America having a strong President?
I think you are because a strong President wouldn't be aiding the Islamists in their murdering AGENDA!
If you are going to be al for peace and promote your religion as being peaceful you should stop supporting Hamas and the murdering Pali's. And quit playing them off as innocent victims when they do not want peace all they want is vengeance and the murder of all Jews.

I never said Obama was brilliant. There was "Hope" but that soon faded. He is as much a liar as our own Tony "No new taxes, save the trees etc.." Abbott. He just approved logging in native rainforests, and is going to add a 1-2% "debt levy" tax to our burden in the next budget as well as attacking the elderly, medicare and complaining that the budget is in dire straights. Meanwhile spending $24billion on some new Jets and telling us to tighten our belts.

The F-35 is very expensive to run, not reliable and when they work out the kinks, they will be obsolete. Indonesia got some newer tech from Russia and Indonesia that runs rings around the F-35 and China has a bunch of new stealth jets.

Besides, when the PM is asking everyone to tighten their belts to foolishly return the budget to surplus while he goes on a machines of war spending spree is ridiculous.

Also, you don't need a $135million jet to take out a terrorist. A man and a good rifle is more than sufficient. :p

The Chinese are having lots of problems with their J-20. We've been in the stealth game for a few decades now, where they're just getting into it and they stole quite a bit with hacking and from the F-117 that was shot down in the Kosovo conflict back in 1999. They are trying, but it'll be quite a while before anyone is taking a J-20 into combat... some estimates run out as far as 2020.

As far as Indonesia's Russian SU-30 Flanker, it's a good plane but it's not stealth. You might as well go with an F-15 (which is still unbeaten in combat, btw). And it hardly runs circles around the F-35.

The SU-27 is the only Russian fighter with a positive kill ratio in air-to-air combat.

Here's a nifty link comparing all of them - from Australia, no less!

Fighting whom exactly?

I'd rather not be slugged with an extra 2% tax to deal with a so called budget crisis. $24billion would go a long way to fixing whatever crisis there is. A 1-2% tax will be disastrous for the Australian economy. Consumer spending and confidence will plummet and jobs will be lost.

Our govt is hell bent on returning the budget to surplus when we would operate just fine with a deficit. Look at the USA. Trillions in debt, yet the country is doing just fine despite a very high debt to GDP ratio.

Do you run your household that way? Eventually the bill comes due. If someone borrows money from you to pay for a lavish life style and then doesn't pay you back, are you going to continue to loan him money? Having a surplus means, in case of emergency, you have the funds needed to respond.

Things work the same at an individual level and a govt level. They are just more abstract at the govt level and not as easily seen. But the results are the same.

Get rid of your 'free' healthcare and you can easily pay for all the F-35s you want. Maybe even get a big-boy Aircraft Carrier as well.

Don't look to America right now for an example of how to financially run a country. Obama has no idea what he's doing and as Gaffer already pointed out, being in debt is to be avoided. We have some hard times coming to correct what he's done to the country.

You can initiate tax cuts across the board and that's when an economy really takes off. You can't tax your way to prosperity, it just doesn't work... that's something liberals and socialists just can't grasp for some reason.

When Reagan took office he was handed a pretty bleak scenario from the inept Carter (who was still smarter than Obama). Reagan cut taxes and the economy responded with over a decade of massive growth and prosperity, all the while spending stupendous amounts of money on our military which is what finally broke the USSR - they just couldn't keep up.

I already pay a medicare levy that pays for it. A new tax will not help it.

It's not just Obama's fault. Bush also has a legacy of debt blowouts. The fact is that the US can sustain a huge debt because of it's extensive assets. Debt is also an asset. My company ran a debt for 3 years before being profitable. That previous debt is used to offset tax so we don't currently pay any tax on our profits.

Exactly. The new "debt levy" will slow our economy down, slash consumer spending and confidence, cost jobs, and stagnate our economy.

I would love a tax cut especially as fuel is set to jump 15c a litre in the next few weeks.

Govt of counties are not taxed and don't get tax benefits. They don't produce anything. They take from those that work, like you, and spend it, then take more. They can take away your tax benefits if they want to. Comparing govts to corporations is apples to peanut butter.

Not exactly the best comparisons. The US isn't going to sell Yellowstone or Oregon to pay off some debt and you don't need to run on debt prior to profitability. Saying that you ran losses as a new start-up is probably the better statement; financing with debt is only one option. That being said I don't get to upset about debt but our future trend of deficits is the problem with entitlement spending of Social Security and Medicare projected to skyrocket.

All I'm saying is that Australia doesn't need to be in surplus and any Austerity measures and doom and gloom to try and get back into surplus ASAP are misguided. Australia's economy is not in dire straights. We don't have a stable AAA credit rating for nothing. We certainly don't need a stupid extra tax to slow the economy down.

If you want to be known for torture then so be it. You should sit them down with a well credentialed Sheikh and have him show them the error of their ways, renounce violence, and return to the Islamic path. Once that is done, they would be more likely to rat out their compadres so they can be given the same guidance. Bombs, invasions and shady torture techniques are counter productive.

So you propose that we go catch these terrorists doing terroristy deeds, take them alive & unharmed, and take them to a Sheikh for islamic re-education? That seems a little far fetched, don't you think?

I do like the idea that you think a high-ranking muslim might be able to show them the error of their ways, however.

What kind of program can be implemented to have your fellow muslims approach them and show them why they're wrong in radicalizing islam like they are?

Surely you yourself could safely approach and have a civilized conversation with them; whereas they'd simply shoot at any American coming to haul them off to a Sheikh.

Failing that, why isn't there airtime bought on Al-Jazeera or similar muzzie network with a prominent Sheikh telling millions of them that they're wrong in what they're doing? Why is there no organized effort to reign in your radicals?
