Need more speed.

Need more speed.

I discovered that speed usually does more harm than good. I got stuck and one of the other drivers was able to see under my vehicle, noticing my rear differential was lodged against a huge rock. I was told to back up then turn my steering hard. The differential then cleared. Had I brute forced my way through it, the result would have been a damaged differential.

Yep. Ramming your way through is extremely expensive. Sometimes you have to do it, but experience shows that you're rolling the dice. Much better to get stuck than exploding a drivetrain component or taking out the diff on a hidden obstacle.

Spoken like a guy who learned right. :) Speed, off-road, unless at a timed-event, is frequently used to cover-up for poor driving technique.

That's true for sex, too ;)

Anyone ever do the Georgetown run in Northern California? Fourteen miles, two days. What a blast...

What year is your FJ?

Mine's a 2014. While it took nerve to use a new vehicle in an offroad run, some guy in front of me from New Jersey did it in a new limited edition (TTUE). If you want a new FJ, you'd better hurry. They are ceasing production next month becase of Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) restrictions.

I bought mine in 2006. First model year (2007).

I had seen them two years prior at the Los Angeles auto show. I saw one on the road in '06 and made a bee line for the dealer's lot...
