Been away too long

Thought I would jump back in with this. V4R and I both loved a book called The Last Ship. He read it years ago and I took the hint from him and read it about 5 or 6 years ago. The plot is post apocalyptic, about a US destroyer surviving a nuclear strike and what decisions have to be made for survival. I now see that TNT has picked up the idea to make a series about the book but have postulated a microbiological disaster as the threat. I have a feeling this will be a poor decision. The people who were intrigued by the book will certainly not be impressed with this. I will watch at least the first episode to see if I am right. Anyone else familiar with the book?
