Back in the 70's when I was studying polsci and sociology, payment in 'kind' seemed to be the wrong way to 'help' people help themselves. Truth is, it was Nixon who said that giving the poor a way to manage their own income-even if welfare-would be the only way for them to build the skills to get off.

Of course this was at a time when only the truly poor were on food and housing assistance. When the percentage on government assistance has climbed to where it is today, payment in 'kind' is the way to go. The food program should be surplus and without choice of what or what brands.

Nixon's logic was right for the time, but that time is long past.

A dem/lib/socialist program that is ALL about buying votes and stealing away freedom.. May have started out with "good intentions" but we all know,
"the road to hell is paved with good intentions"!!-Tyr

now Obama has engineered it to become a necessary part of American life, that in just 6 years year! Imagine what he can do in the next few years!!
And be blindly and stupidly praised for doing it too!!

Well said Kathianne....Tyr.....and thanks, SassyLady, for the cartoon. I had seen this a good bit ago but it is still a very hilarious cartoon concept full of truth.

I hope we don't have one more year under this very dangerous, evil moron but if he should not stumble and break his neck in three place doing that lil' "JIG" of his down the steps of Air Force One, I hope his remaining time will, at the very least, be in grid-lock as we will hopefully put in an overwhelmingly Conservative group of leaders come Nov.

How many can remember Ford falling down the steps of Air Force One? I have a feeling that 'this one' would not fair so well if he wre to do something such as that because 'this one' is not the scrapping football type Mr. Ford was. I bet 'this one' would somehow breaks his freakin' lil' liberal pencil neck with only those large, aerodynamic air cushings to save him from a 4th break. Yes, Tyr, the road to HELL truly is paved with intent for good. I hate wishing such things but it would save our soldiers, our Nation and what little freedom we have to spare.
