OK, I have to ask what is everyone's favorite beer and bourbon?? I have a list of my own

Beer:

Dragons Milk (whiskey barrel stout thick like Guinness) brewed by New Holland
Robert The Bruce (Scottish ale with a slight nutty flavor) Brewed by Three Floyds
Smithwicks (Irish ale and if you don't know how to pronounce it correctly don't order it )
Killians (just for sitting around)
Beals Oberon (for the summer)
Yuengling

Bourbon:

Larceny (great sipping hard to find sometimes) Heaven Hill distilleries
Makers Mark (good sipping and mixing kind of expensive for a mass produced)
Willett's ( great small batch single barrel)
Evan William ( good for mixing) Heaven Hill distilleries
Elijah Craig (great sipping small batch 12 or 18 year) Heaven Hill distilleries

Makers Mark is the only name you mentioned that I've ever heard of before. My favorites:

Beer: Henry Weinhart's Rootbeer

Bourbon: Anything used in the production of bourbon balls.

My favorite alcohol is Korbel's Brandy but only if I mix it with Kahlua and cream for a brandy separator.

I was never really a big bourbon drinker. My biggest drink was vodka, mixed with anything, or just cold. And then drinks like Jagermeister, Firewater, Blackhaus & other drinks to get the buzz going fast. I'm a fairly cheap beer drinker - Corona and a lime is still my favorite. I also like a few of the Sam Adams lagers. I'll even drink Coor's Light, so long as it's ice cold. Most beer tastes better when in a ice cold frosty mug!

Add some salt with the Corona and lime and I am thrilled, or use to be, I gave up drinking a few years back but every time I cook a steak on the grill my mouth waters for a Ice Cold Corona to go with it.

As for bourbon I never had the taste for it, I drank many types but it was more for getting drunk than enjoying the taste.

Jeff, ever had a Michelada? I am not a beer drinker but my daughter found out that I used to sneak sips of my mother's "red beer" (beer and snappy tom) when I was young. So, she likes to make these for me. However, I get three drinks out of one beer because I tell her heavy on the clamato and light on the beer.

INGREDIENTS
1 bottle Mexican beer such as Sol or Pacifico
1 lemon
1 TSP Michelada salt
1/4 cup Clamato
dash of Tapatio

Wow my mind went to thinking how good it would taste and I posted before even thinking I don't drink at all any more.

Sassy. If I may here? As an alcoholic myself. You are exactly right. The thought of, and remembering that taste NEVER goes away. It's a fight everyday to remind ourselves NOT to lower our defenses, and give-in.

As a former smoker for over 50 years. I have felt the overwhelming desires, and fought the needs to JUST HAVE ONE MORE.

You are right. That taste (and the memory of it) is enough.

AT ... I have never smoked, nor done drugs of any type (well, does Ambien count?). I do drink once in a great while. In fact, the only time I drink is socially and it might be months before I decide to have a drink. I just don't like the taste of alcohol, and as I got older I discovered that my body hurt too much the next day ... whether it was one drink or several.

I also kinda get off on being able to "resist" peer pressure. :cheers2:

Thanks Sassy. Truth is. After one begins to become dependent upon tobacco, or alcohol. PEER pressure (or rather BEER pressure) has nothing to do with it.

Congratulations on being strong enough to RESIST such things.

I know how proud it makes me feel to finally say "I don't smoke, and don't drink!"

If were younger you would be considered a pervert ... but due to my age, it is a compliment that you asked! :thanks::thanks:
