I hope other states follow suit and put a stop to this nonsense.

---

Monday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) announced he is deploying 1,000 Texas National Guard to the U.S. border with Mexico, saying he can not idly sit by while "our citizens are under siege."

Pointing out the tens of thousands pf unaccompanied minors only make up roughly 20 percent of those being apprehended illegally crossing the border, Perry said he can no longer wait for the president to act as gang members and drug cartels flood into Texas, causing crime to skyrocket. Perry pointed out Texas tax payers can not bear the expense of processing and housing the surge of illegal immigration caused by President Obama's 2012 executive action "Dream Act" which has given people in Central America the idea children will be allowed to stay once in the U.S.

Perry has repeatedly called on President Obama to visit the border, calling his refusal Obama’s “Katrina,” moment.

Wise move, every minute more and more coming and the price for that snowballs dramatically higher every minute because of more crimes committed, the need for larger deportation efforts, stocks and private sector affected, and of course illegal money traffic leaving the US.

Surprised he didn't do this earlier. The governor has control of the National Guard in his state and can call them up any time he wishes. They have to be federalized before they can be removed from his control. Hope others do the same.

Good for him, but I dare say he may have just killed his chances to take the Big Chair...

Probably wanted the President to step in and federalize so the state doesn't have to pick up the tab. I'm glad he decided not to wait ... now he can correct the problem and have a "win" on his record when he runs for President.

How so?

I'm thinking the less he let's in the less voters to vote against him.

Possible... but the border crisis is definitely going to be a major debate in 2016, and taking action on his own in the best interests of his State will only bolster him with every legitimate U.S. Citizen, IMO.

I think everyone realizes the danger of having an ineffectual president now, and Perry is showing strength & leadership.

The huge illegal voting block that's already been let into the country is another story, though, and Democrats will continue to court them.

The problem runs so much deeper than throngs of children and adults from Central America crossing the border. With such a porous border we are at even greater risk of having middle eastern extremists squeezing through, as well. Here's a news story from last week about a disturbing book found by a Texas rancher.

Sadly, though, it doesn't appear Jan Brewer will be following in Rick Perry's footsteps to protect the border in her state.

And, apparently New Mexico will not be mobilizing National Guard to their borders either.

From the middle article:
Brewer has already faced several legal battles over jurisdiction in border conflicts and the state is struggling to balance its checkbook.

And just how does Ms. Brewer think her "checkbook" will be affected after all these illegals pour into her state? Far better to spend the $$ nipping this in the bud. I suspect she has another reason(s) she is not sharing.

I'm not sure of the validity of this ad, but I heard about it several days ago. If this is factual, then, just damn!

Haven't read articles yet but I at least thought Jan would jump right in. I'll read article to see what's going on there. Never even gave a thought to whether NM would do it .... want votes too much.

:omg:

Perhaps we all should sign up for this and "re-educate" those in under our influence where and how to vote.
