Why I began to end my posts with (a quote from aboutime)

Over many recent months here on DP. I began to notice how many of my posts in threads were overlooked, or ignored. Only to later discover how many of my EXACT words...suddenly, and mysteriously appeared in other posts. All of which...coincidentally...never mentioned, or referred to my words in my posts.

So. I decided. If someone feels a need to ignore me...yet uses my words. I would kindly, and carefully show how common courtesy...which I always attempt to show with "THANKS"...would be reciprocal.

For anyone who needs further information. Please read the following.
I am not accusing anyone here. Just stating that, from this day forward. "My quotes will be identified."

If you think someone is purposely taking your words, shoot me a message. Credit should be given is someone is literally using anothers words, or at least make it clear that they are quoting another.

Seriously, though, plagiarism should be unacceptable. I entirely agree that the only acceptable standard is for a person's contributions to receive acknowledgment whenever either referred to or quoted outright.

I might add that its polar opposite .. that of having a post authored by one contributor, then rewritten, censored, twisted (etc) by another in order to craft a wholly unfair disparagement of the intended original .. should be equally unacceptable.

Correction: all you're really suggesting is your interpretation of what you think is occurring. Others may disagree. You cannot reasonably take it upon yourself to reflect the thoughts and opinions of the forum as a whole ... different people have differing reasons for what they may (or may not) do.

As for your comparisons - well, I don't know what Aboutime's opinion is of Michael Savage. I can tell you, for myself, that I've heard just a handful of his broadcasts via Internet radio. Whatever others may precisely feel, one thing can surely be said about him, which many will agree with: he makes his impact !!

This has the specific UK context of Savage being banned from entering the UK ! He's on a 'ban' list, first put there by our Socialists, the Labour Party, because of the likelihood that he may express views not seen to be in State interests. He, so far as I know, continues to be banned here ... the Establishment is clearly afraid of risking his having the chance at free expression here !!

If Savage's offerings are so 'worthless', so 'dismissable' ...... then, what are our politicians so afraid of ??

We also see this in essentially the same terms. There are truths out there that need to be expressed, need to be exposed, to galvanise an awareness of what's going on and to shape the proper remedial counter to it. I've said more than once that I find your 'style' annoying, when responding. You call out the name of whom your responding to, even though you're quoting, then you try to reiterate what was said, often mangling it horribly.

Even when corrected, you fail to respond to that, instead doing the same over again. Still mangling, still refusing to acknowledge corrections. You kill threads.

Thanks Kathianne. So, I stand corrected. Granted. I have a totally different style that is intended to be a TURN-OFF in many ways. That's the way I have learned to get attention.
My life has been long, and I have dealt with wonderful, and terrible people. Most of them go out of their way to be honest, and respectful. While, over the years. I have also come in contact with Intentional Liars, Cheats, and many thought nothing of Betraying a trust to help their selfishness win...at all costs.
So. I appreciate your honest comments. But I am not here to PLEASE, or APPEASE those who feel a need to dislike, or disagree with my idea's, opinions, and principles...just to make people I do not know happy.

As for my moving ... there are times I've been tempted. But then, that would be a defeat. How would the US fare if some of its most reputable Conservatives just gave up ?

Agreed, of course, on liberal banning tactics. Geert Wilders was another example. Initially, he wanted to come to the UK to give a talk on his film, 'Fitna' ... one highly critical of Muslims. He, a Right wing Dutch politician, has long since had his concerns about the rise of Islam in his part of the world, so has been campaigning to get his views across. The UK Government barred him from entering the UK to attend his own talk.

They did relent, and allowed him in. Not without an argument, though.

Restrictions work both ways, I think. The BBC is Left-wing to a sometimes outrageous degree .. but I wonder if the wider world ever sees the worst of it ? I know there's a BBC America, run as a commercial concern (which itself is a very different model from the domestic one, which is State funded from compulsory payments from the viewing public ..) .. but did you know that the BBC has its 'IPlayer' online viewer, which is coded to prevent anyone from outside the UK being able to watch any BBC programme through it ?

What we can view from the BBC, and what you get to see yourselves, are probably quite different.

I am a father and a Husband and you know that ( no need for facts findings ) but yet gabby at one point attacked every post I made, yes some where over the sources and although I proved the sources to be right 99 % of the time the attacks didn't stop, many of her attacks where about were I live , what I did for a living and so on, now with that said you know as well as anyone I have stood up for Gabby when it comes to trashing her with sexual innuendos, but yet she would still attack me and that is why I don't protect or at least voice my opinion anymore, all I am saying here is lets not forget the past. And lets not forget how she would also attack aboutime, yes Gabs could be rather mean when she wanted to.

With that said I will let you and the board know, I have Pmed with Gabby ( nothing of any importance ) but I did so because she is trying, I think we should all give her a chance ( and don't get me wrong for those that won't let the past go that is your business, I won't think good or bad about it ) I seen her post today how she is trying to turn a new leaf and I hope she does, I think Gabby can be a asset to the board when she isn't trying to get under peoples skin.

As for you and AT, y'all are both good people, I truly hope things will work themselves out here, we have a small board where as I see it we are more of a bunch of friends coming together to shoot the Sheot, yes I know it is a debate board but lets be honest most have been friends for years ( at least computer friends, cyber friend ) so it is nice if we all can get along ( Dang I sound like Rodney :laugh: ) No none of us will ever see eye to eye and look at me and Jim, he is my Brother and I don't like him :laugh: ( well anyone who really knows us knows that is a lie, but hey maybe it made someone smile ) But seriously it would be nice to be able to come on here and be amongst friends ( and friends so have blow ups at times ) and when we get others to come in debate those folks and do so that we may have folks from the other side ( like Gabby ) that will come on and debate with out cussing and carrying on and maybe they will stay a while. Sounds like a fairy tale to me as well but who knows !!!

I appreciate AT's response to my critical post. Really I do. With that said, let's get real here for a bit. Seems many of those that post here care about Jim and this site, I fully believe this. Yet, they continue to post in ways that chase new members away, other than those that care more about their agenda, *cough* Jarfar* than discussions.

Look how you all act towards Gabby. I have posted many pointed posts in her direction, (currently on her lame attempt towards equivalency between Palestinians and Hamas, with Catholics and pedophile priests.) I still find no reason to act like she's something she is not. (skank, ****, unwashed, etc.)

She is a mother and wife, no one here has any facts of anything different.

Just try to open your minds a bit. Some that I thought quite bright months/years ago, have become as closed minded as AT. I hope all of you can try a bit, for the sites benefit.

You must know how I feel about being certain to always make sure I am truthful, and how I totally despise hypocrisy in all of it's forms.
I agree, sometimes I may come close to breaking my own rules. But, even when I get close to that envelope. I always make sure..I AM NOT LYING.

Jeff, I hear you. In this case, for yourself, YOU have every right to 'consider the source.) I HAVE seen those posts, I have called out Gabby on condescension numerous times.

There's no shame in having higher education, there's really little to say that higher education has much to do with intelligence either. Gabby and I both attended 'prestigious' universities, (mine was/is better), lol! However, that doesn't equate with my being 'more intelligent' than her. Lots of reasons to choose a university, seems we both chose one closer to home.

With that said, I KNOW several people in RL that are way more intelligent and better read in areas we often discuss/debate/curse one another about, that never completed college. Why? Even in the 70's they knew what they wanted to do and recognized they didn't need a BA/BS to get there. They DID get there. They weren't Jobs or Gates, but they've done way better than myself and many that we're friends with. They don't care about what they've done or not done. They did what they wanted.

I also know many that can't write a complete sentence, but have a much better handle on what's really going down in politics-local, national, global.
