Anyone who continues to whine about the dropping of the A-bombs on Japan is obviously not familiar with American plans for an invasion of the country and Japanese plans for defense. The series of three or four landings would have taken 12-18 months and result in the deaths of over one million American lives and as many as 10 million Japanese lives.
