View Full Version : The Reason I Quit Watching the NFL

The game between Tennessee and Atlanta is a PERFECT example. 20 penalties and still 6 minutes to go. The officials penalized Tennessee all the way in for a score with complete BS calls. Once NFL football became "The NFL Referee Show", I quit watching.

Let them play. If you ain't tough enough, get the f- off the field. We were tougher and hit harder when I was a teenager and we didn't even wear pads. What a bunch of whiny wimps. If I played football today, I'd get thrown out on the first play of the first game. Jack Lambert was my hero. I was an under-sized LB/safety. I'd take your head off. Now? These pansies don't even know how to tackle, and when someone (the Falcons D) starts laying down licks flags are everywhere.

Not that I have an opinion on the matter. :)

The penalities are part of the pre-season. Things will settle down. AND...watch Russell Wilson. Totally worth it

The thanks is for the first sentence. :) Only thing I want to see the Seahawks do is lose. ;)

I realize they are pre-season games. Back when, they didn't matter to much of anyone. The NFL Network's hype is making them sound like the playoffs; which, is bs to me. When you put that pressure to win on the teams, it's hard to evaluate your scrubs.

The post mortem to my previous post is after they penalized Atlanta and ran Tennessee right into the end zone, they penalized Atlanta right out of it. While it may be pre-season now, the officiating during the regular season is what made me just find something else to do. Just too aggravating for me.

Gunny, I would suggest you watch rugby. Or Australian Rules Football, which has all the contact of the NFL without any of the padding or penalties.

oh my god, gunny.

(sigh). You mean to tell me you are NOT a member of the Church of Russell Wilson? That dude is MONEY.

The problems with the flags though - have you been tracking that? Was a point of empahsis on the leauge to combat 'defensive holding'. It's called the "Legion of Boom" rule because people thought the Hawks' backfield held.

Only team this preseason NOT called for D-holding yet?

Seahawks.

:D

Don't forget THIS guy

No, I've NEVER liked the Seahawks since 1977 when the only reason they didn't stink up the NFL the most is because Tampa Bay did.

I haven't forgotten you are a Seahawks fan.:poke:

Yeah, had to go there. Same as I give the Devils fans the "Matteau Matteau Matteau" - that's when he scored in game 7 to beat the Devils in 1994, enroute to their first championship in 54 years, and last one apparently!

Jim, what do you think of Antonio Brown? I drafted him last night for my fantasy team.

Darin, no Seahawks. I wanted Lynch, but someone grabbed him first.

Excellent choice! He totaled 1600 yards last year, and that was with Sanders still on the team, who is now with the Broncos. This moves up Brown and they're expecting big things from him. He's done excellent thus far in the preseason, for whatever that's worth. And even if the Steelers end up sucking, Ben can still team up with him for some big numbers. And with the 2 dipshits getting busted with MJ, and if they lose any playing time, they'll go to the air that much more.
