Iconic comedian Joan Rivers has died at the age of 81 after going into cardiac arrest on Aug. 28 and being put on life support at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital.
"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers.
She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends," Melissa Rivers said, "My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for
the amazing care they provided for my mother.

"Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support,
and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard
and appreciated.

"My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is
difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing
soon."

Ridiculous. Really? An 81 years old goes into cardiac arrest and it's the clinic's fault? GMAFB. When you're 81, you die of OLD AGE.

An icon? I thought she was an obnoxious broad. And yes, I AM irreverent, and yes, our society's worship for the dead makes me ill. If we treated people half as good when alive as we do after they're gone, we'd live in a much better world.

Rant off. :)

Gunny. Thanks for the laughs. Just a reminder when you make fun of people getting older. If you are lucky. Even YOU may get to that age, and remember how people like you....made FUN of You.

If you got to do something in MY name when I die, either go get laid or have a party. :)

I can tell you this... I've spent most of my life NOT laughing. If I can laugh or make others laugh, then life is good. :)

What I WON'T do is pretend like I liked someone I never have after they're gone. And it NEVER fails. THAT is kind of my point about Joan Rivers. I'm sorry she passed away for her loved ones. But SHE is gone. All this carrying on we do after someone's dead has always been one of my pet peeves.

I'd prefer that people remember how I lived rather than cry and whine and make themselves miserable because I died. :)

Joan was funny in her own special kind of way. Truely a great loss.

No cancer (yet) but I've been in the cardiac unit at Miami twice, so yeah, I feel you
