Story Highlights
• NEW: Senate votes to raise fuel efficiency standards to average of 35 mpg
• NEW: New standards apply to SUVs, must be reached by 2020
• Automakers opposed further increase, saying it was unachievable
• House still debating its version of the standard

Finally the new Senate does something to help the people, but I don't see why they are keeping it to 2020 instead of making it sooner like 2010.

They dont care about boosting fuel standards. Im fairly certain this is there gas tax increase bill.

and government cant increase standards simply by telling them they have to increase. if passing a law made it true, it would be alot easier to get things done.
