What a visual change and wide variation of the song "House of the Rising Sun" over the last 50 years!

Eric ... I remember thinking he was so nerdy looking but has a beautiful strong voice.

Think he's beyond sick of doing that song?

Musicians are quirky people and the Animals had some recognition but many, maybe most will only know them for that one tune. Like maybe that they always had to play that tune last because if they did it early in the set everyone would leave after it. I'll admit that I couldn't name one other Animals tune (I might be familiar with it and not realize it was them) but they were a little before my time.

Ask a 20-something if they ever heard this song too.

I can't think of any other song by the Animals.

The first version is the best... I've never cared for deviations in the lyrics and lead singers seem to have a need to mix it up which detracts from the song IMO.

I get the impression that they're all very hammered in the 1976 version.

You can never improve on the original, so why try?

What was bad was the terrible TV production that had them lipsyncking or standing in corny stage setting or walking around in circles.

And yes Sassy I remember them all. In fact I saw them when they were first broadcast in most cases. 64 through 66 were my favorite music years.

I was freshman in 65-66 and remember dancing to their songs. Nostalgic.

Sassy. That song was by far, one of the most popular, most repeated songs almost everybody in uniform, during NAM knew the words to so well.
It meant "GOING HOME" in more ways than one. Just ask any Vietnam Veteran who served to Repeat those Words.
