PHOENIX -- An off-duty Benton County sheriff's deputy stopped an out-of-control passenger who tried to open an emergency exit during a flight from Phoenix to Seattle.

If that door would have opened, that would have turned into a bad day for everyone aboard.

I think I remember reading somewhere that, while a few people close to the opened door would likely be sucked out, it wouldn't cause the plane to crash or the entire cabin to be sucked out of the door.

And that the pressure would make it darn hard to open the door.

Still, pretty wild.

Actually it's imposable to open any exit door when the aircraft is pressurized.

And if it isn't pressurized, opening the door doesn't matter unless you fall out.:laugh2:

I MUCH preferred C-130 travel to commercial airlines; especially, when the pilots were reservists on their way home. They could make the flight from Oki to Hickam to Norton REAL quick.
