Bother's me a little when people use apostrophe's to make thing's plural... as in: I have 2 dog's. Two dogs' what? "Dog's" with an apostrophe is possessive, not plural.

irregardless
ironical -neither of these are words

General misuse of the word 'ironic'. Like people saying they were being ironic when they mean they were being sarcastic. Or hipster dufuses referring to their 'I'm With Stupid' t-shirts as ironic. Ironic how? Your trucker hat's not ironic, it's just goofy.

Misuse of the word 'literally'. Like, 'he told this joke that was so funny I literally crapped my pants.' Oh my god. How embarrassing that you actually dumped a big stinky load in your pants right there in front of everyone. I'd probably change my name and move to another country after something like that.
Or 'It was literally raining cats and dogs,' or 'I was literally jumping out of my skin' . . . etc.

'I could care less.' - so that means you really do care? If you didn't care at all, then you couldn't care less.

One thing I've hated for a long-long time is that I can't use the word 'assume' in a sentence without some dork-ass-dork popping out of the woodwork with, 'you know what happens when you assume? you make an ass out of you and me.' yeah that's real new and original there, carrottop.

There are many, many others I can't think of at the moment.

Oh yeah! When people refer to themselves or others as 'anal.' Gross! Can't they just say they're pedantic or nit-picky? Why does someone's anus have to enter the conversation. I'm trying to eat here, for god's sake.

"I could care less..."

"Be advised..." (Look...that's like saying "Get ready to listen, because I'm going to tell you something" Before you tell people something.)

"some more.." (Some more pics...some more cake....'some' is IMPLIED in 'more'.)

(in print)
"your cool." (What about my cool?)

"The meeting starts at 1300 hrs." (Never use 'hrs' following military time. 'hrs' is implied in '1300'.)

Did you catch any fish JA?

jackass
01-27-2007, 07:06 PM
Yeah...caught just one. Aboput 1/4 of an inch too small to keep. Seems everytime I bring the kids fishing...it gets windy...then they get cold. I just have to start bringing extra clothes for them. I will post the smallish fish in the pic section.
