My coworker and I were driving to Anchorage yesterday and saw a poor bastard's car on fire so I took a few pics as we went by... turns out it was an old high school buddy of mine.
He said he was driving along back to Wasilla and suddenly fire started shooting out around the steering column at him, so he screeched to a halt and bailed out just as the whole front end erupted in flames! I'm thinking a fuel leak dumping gas all over the engine until the exhaust manifolds got involved.

Nope, he had no fire extinguisher on board. Even worse, all he had was liability on his rig so he's screwed.

About 2 weeks ago I was thinking about this kind of a scenario and I went down and bought a big ABC fire extinguisher for every one of our vehicles. They're kind of spendy but nothing like losing your entire vehicle like this one.

Here's a couple of minute before I saw it from another passerby :

Wonder if they were on their way to a 'hot date'.

That's called 'over-heating'.

I suppose that driver was 'fired up' about traffic.

Okay I'm done.

True story: 2002 my car's power steering line burst = Fire.

A year later fuel line burst = No fire.

It was a few rare days of 70 degee weather following Christmass day in 1974. I took advantage of this by giving my 1972 Baha metallic Bronze Javelin with side striping a wax and put on my new rims. It was looking really good! Decided to drop in a see a friend across town that turned out not to be home.
So I decided to take the country way home and turned onto a long steep street to head that way.
As I was driving down the hill I noticed people looking at my car as I passed.. Felt special. A liitle more down the hill and the people on the street stopped to watch me go by. I was about bustin about how good my car must look. A liitle further down the hill and the people were pointing and waving. My bubble head was rubbing the roof. As i slowed for the approacing stop sign at the bottom of that hill I noticed thick black smoke coming from the hood seams. Checked my rearview and could see nothing of that hill or people I had impressed with my ride because of the thick black smoke behind me obscured everything.

Suddenly I realized that it was not how good I must look in my cool ride people were saying but rather, look at that fukin dummy driving by on fire!
