Y'all keep warm up there, yes the northern states are suppose to get hit hard with this cold blast but all the way down here ( GA ) it is going to be cold, tomorrows forecast for the town I live in is 35 for the high and 14 for the low, my God folks down here don't know that kind of cold and honestly it has been so long for me I am going to freeze as well  Last night I got the firewood stacked up on the porch and am ready for the cold, hunkered down inside my house with a roaring fire going

As snow starts to move out areas in the U.S. the National Weather Service warns of “dangerously cold air” moving into the northeast Wednesday into Thursday. Cold temperatures in the northeast are expected to get colder as most of the region could see it drop into the single digits before the morning commute. An artic front could produce wind gusts up to 40 mph by the afternoon.
Ohio residents are also expected to feel the big freeze as well as temperatures are expected to drop below zero with wind chills as low as 20-30 below zero.

Southern born , southern raised myself so I dearly hate cold weather but 14 is not that bad. Not pleasant but not terribly bad unless the wind is blowing really hard. To me it is the zero and below zero weather that reaches the terrible stage.
In the 50' and early 60's we got lots of terrible weather around these parts in winter time. My brothers and I all never wore anything heavier that those very thin Levi jackets al during each winter.
Other kids at school would ask --how can you do that?
My reply was, "one makes do with what one has".
Native Americans endured sub zero weather with hardly any clothing on.
I have that bloodline. Yet I do so dislike cold and love me some hot weather.
Up until my 50's I rarely wore anything heavier than a light jacket regardless of how cold it got...
Now, I wear a nice heavy coat when it gets much below freezing.. --Tyr

.....were are expecting single digits by Thursday and wind chill -5...

Cold today and getting colder...check your cars and trucks....check all fluids...also might consider adding this stuff:

Prevents "costly" freezing and cracking of windshield washer fluid tank and will melt ice...

Tyr the wind is wiping down here and right now it says 39, I just let the dog in and my God it's cold with the wind, 14 tonight with the wind I am sure the wind chill has us well into single digits.

AT you are exactly right, it's winter sure enough, but here in GA this time of year we may get upper 30's low 40's at night this time of year and the highs are normally 55 or so, to see 60 plus isn't unusual.I usually go to Florida the end of Jan. beginning of March and when I leave early in the am the coldest it has ever been was 29.

So this may not be cold for some, but it is dam cold for Georgia

I was born, and raised in COLD Pennsylvania where Winters were always Winters in the North. I stayed in the South hoping the Cold would STAY Up North after I retired from the Navy.
Anyone who says GLOBAL WARMING instead of GLOBAL COOLING needs their AL GORE head examined.

It was cold enough as I sat down to watch TV last night, I think like 17 or so? But then I woke up in the middle of the night and it was brutal! I think it got down to about 5 degrees. The older I get the less and less I'm learning to deal with the cold and snow.

I've commisserated with friends and family the past few days. Chicago is frigid. Meanwhile, here in Sedona we hit 73 yesterday, 65 today.

Granted last week we had 6" of snow, but that was in the 30's and gone in 4 days.

I'm enjoying this winter. ;)

Nothing like some Gun's n Roses, but even their music can't possibly sound good at 40 below!! Damn!

I came in here to complain that I'm just feeling a little better, and woke up to about an inch of snow already and it's supposed to get another few. I suppose I'll have little choice but to shovel and salt again by midday. :(

Sounds like fun Jim, we are cold bu7t no snow, I like to see snow at least once a year, I guess being that usually it last a day and then the sun comes out and melts it all makes it prettier to look at

Sad part is, I'm so weak and tired, my first though when I looked out the window was "Home Depot and a snow blower". Then I suppose I need oil, and then gas of course. And come roaring out of my garage to barely have but an inch or 2 on the ground!

Dad used to wake me extra early so I could shovel the snow before school...and do it quietly so you don't wake your sisters.
