Calling Thugs "Thugs" is Now Racist

The blacks have been crying about it on TV all day. Sorry. They're criminals. And not very smart ones. The term was fine to describe white gangsters for over a hundred years. Now, suddenly, rioters and looters who are black are not "thugs".

This madness needs to end. Our nation is being intimidated and held hostage over terminology by yet another minority.

1. I am a veteran

No reference I have found attributes a racial connotation to the word. However, it seems to me that various people within the urban community have adopted the word to describe their chosen way of life. Too bad if we now use the term.

Yep, I totally agree. I said to Jim on another thread yesterday, I'm sick of pc changing of the English language. Whites, blacks, Asians, doesn't matter, if there are young guys looting or mugging folks, they are 'thugs.'

Old time Southerners called them "nigra's" and "darkies". I don't know where "nigger" came from. The dictionary definition of "nigger" when I was even an older teenager was "a trashy PERSON". I DO have an issue with them calling themselves "nigger" and even calling me "niggah" on a basketball court but the word's taboo for me.

What gets me about "poor Tyrone", is he had every chance I did. I didn't have silver spoon in my mouth. My dad was enlisted in the Air Force. We had just enough to get by most of the time. I got into a little trouble as a teenager -- or should I say that's all I got caught for? - and when choice time came, I joined the Marine Corps and never went back.

So they can't say "poor Tyrone" never had a chance. Poor Tyrone just doesn't want to get off his ass and work.
