`This is cool...Near-real-time map of lightning strikes across the world.

`A small...internet-connected receiver with GPS. When the receiver hears a signal(lightning strike), it send the data to the server. The server triangulates the coordinates and signal timing (GPS accurate) from hundreds of receivers to produce an extremely accurate map.

.....Current delay on the strikes is about 7 second....if you turn on the "stations" button in the upper RIGHT, you can see what stations are contributing to the data picture. There are stations in Canada that can hear lightning strikes in the gulf.

Neat....but.....hard to believe there's none in my neck of the woods right now. We've been having 24/7 deluges and T-storms here, and right now the wind is picking up (again) and looking like yet another storm.

Go to the map....point your cursor on Texas "click"....Your getting bombarded...stay safe...:cool:
