My new writes of poetry I shall place in this thread. So as to not clutter up the other thread.
Poem I wrote this afternoon. Have a contest it may fit in if it passes my three day look back again test.-Tyr

Blues, Shoes and Dancing

Saw a terrifying ghost today,
apparition of the ages gone by
too much sadness in its play
dark clouds in a weeping sky!

Saw a dead man dancing a jig,
headache seeing such lame moves
All bones with scary red wig
hairy feet were horse's hooves!

Saw a fallen warrior cry,
misery in his quivering voice
Kept asking , tell me why
my dying was never a choice!

Heard a song that ripped the blues
danced I did, but with no shoes!

My Girlfriend's Legs

A woman, so lovely my mind waltzed in a haze,
as the sun rose she glowed in rainbow hues;
As she stepped from bed my heartbeat would raise
into a crescendo of blasts two by two!
An image that sent waves of sweetest delight,
romance misting in the air she trailed
Save me, save me forever that glorious sight
(With her in my world I never failed.)

She that touched my inner spirit with her grace,
soft spoken words that had a sexy ring;
Memories my mind could never dare erase,
dreams so fantastic that nighttime would sing.
First time I saw those tanned sexy legs so long
I knew paradise was showing its wide open hand
Then I begged her to grab and bring me along
as she danced her way across this great land.

Those eyes that twinkled at my stumbling fall,
shine with starlight spreading unselfish cheer
Yes, sweet memories my heart captured it all
melted down every time I heard my love say, my dear!

The View , a Narrative...

The View

At the end of Mulberry street
stood a massive old and weathered oak.
With an owl rested there every night , just waiting
for the right meal to wander by,
then silent wings swooped effortlessly down
the massacre hardly made a sound at all.
I watched from my bedroom window each night to
see this act of natural savagery and the feast
Even saw a black kitten become the monster's meal
Yet never did I think of it as barbaric savagery
because man eats whatever he wants with arrogant glee
As master over all creatures and with contempt
for the weak and lame,
Throat cut and bloodied the cow so peaceful
becomes next day's burgers and we bat not an eye.
Unholy indifference reasoned to be a normal act
by we lords of the earth, we takers of all weaker
things.
Great to find the old Mulberry still a launching pad
after these past decades.
And man changes not except his clothes and his
ideas on his superiority over known and unknown Universe.

Upon The Gallows Stands The Condemned

Upon the gallows stands the condemned,
the crowd slobbering for his demise.
Preacher and followers begin bible hymn
about fools not so very swift or wise.

There dancing spirits surrounding him,
this dejected and now shaking thief.
His dark, haunting past now so very dim
lost of all hope and steeped in grief.

Beelzebub stands there with wicked grin,
to welcome home the coming of the fruits.
His harvest dark and heaped over in sin,
crowd crying to see his swinging boots!

Soon darkness will bring on its release,
as stiff rope snaps into a sudden drop.
Death shall make this lost soul cease,
when his life and time will forever stop!

Gallows have done their cheering deed,
crowd lurches forth in a collective swoon.
Beelzebub, gathers the fruit of his seed
and gathers the crowd's dark joy as a boon!

Robert J. Lindley, 04-24-2015

Note: Man's judgment may be a necessary evil but the actions engaged in by
those that obeyed the carnal desires, lusts and temptations of evil are a sweet harvest for HE that gathers his fruit with a wicked grin...

Second note: Such truth as expressed in this poem turns people off(even fellow poets) because they do not want to face the truth.
It is not PC to face truth head on and deal with it in todays world.
Such attitude of not truly plugging the "holes" is how a ship sinks.
Yet perhaps thats the hidden agenda... Modern culture demands abandonment of moral principles..

Like it or not Christian morality is under severe attack.

Reality Bites

Off to my right stands damnation
a road once I raced headlong
seeking every pleasurable sensation
ALL was a dance and a happy song!

Death, hell was an eternity away
smashing every stone was a deed
let any future life skip or pay
fruit ate from my every dark seed!

Behind me was an old dirty road
ahead lay glory in rapt attention
my soul was what I freely sold
excuses, were such an easy invention!

The NOW came knocking one fine day
landing a swift kick to my face
hurt came on board with no delay
suddenly I was dead last in the race!

Waking up suddenly life was pain
happy go lucky quickly ran away
deep blues almost ran me insane
jolly band stops, you going to pay!

Black Snake Squirmed Out Of My Head

I wrote two poems, one up one down
third one ran away never to be found
Clever words from a simple old mind
perfect poem, I shall never find
Writing now to settle my sad blues
can't dance , have no damn shoes
No union means no damn union dues
saw the reruns but it was old news
Clever, sometimes clever as a fox
play a mean fiddle and old jukebox
Sanity is my only sought after fee
mind a rusty 'ole box, I have no key
Words they come on fast and low
Found paradise, too damn lazy to go

Wrote two short poems this very day
found my heart had so little to say
Black snake squirmed out of my head
landed right there on my antique bed
Gave me a vicious look, go to hell
I shot back, you I can easily sell
Grabbed the critter by its long tail
put it in a box sent it in the mail
Note to my editor said, here is a treat
reach in quick, grab something sweet
If only that damn third poem was found
can not see it but can hear the sound
Little screams echoing across the room
caution ahead, enter to find your doom

No Principle Stands Alone

Stand tall with blade worn openly for all to see
give kindness when its richly due
The true worth is not in the height of a tree
rather it is in the fruits it bears that we use

Never yield to complacency or fear of condemnation
instead act in a way that shows honor rightly obeyed
Seek not false and ever so hollow admiration
rather pursue a righteous foundation firmly laid.

Do that and hope will hold you to a true course
despite the stony path you must then tread
Fear not the troubles the fools heartily endorse
Life will reward your honor greatly instead

Two things a man should never dare to lose
Precious Hope and the Courage to fight to choose

This World Reeks In Deep Decay

For what we know will stand,
For how we grow as decent men,
Hold to Godly principles dear.
Stand your ground, do not fear!
This dark day shall one day pass,
Best to seek out truth in mass.
This world reeks in deep decay,
Innocence the price we must pay!

Fear not the threats of dread,
hope exists for all not dead.
Listen to wisdom when it is sent,
follow a true heart's intent.

Yet again heed the coming call,
Warning of evils, do not fall,
Sell your soul not for false gain
for judgment shall come yet again.
Deny false comfort and lazy ease,
seek not jaded fools to please.
Expect punishment for your good,
hold true knowing well you should.

Climb each mountain with zeal,
for faith is what is truly real.
Blessings come as your just reward
forgive all, mercy is not so hard!

A dark one for the kiddies to think about.. ;)-Tyr

So Fleet, The Monster's Retreat

It manifested a dark form surprising
great fear in my heart thus rising
Resting against the mirror stand
ghastly in color, with deformed hand
Something bad did then seem amiss
this creature strayed from the abyss
Invading my secluded and small room
reeking of vilest stench and doom
I flinched back as it read my mind
probing with deceit and curses unkind
Curses, the accusations of its soul
pain inflicted was real, took a toll
My desire was to fall down and cry
Yet I firmly stood not knowing why
Closer it eased to touch my face
heart almost burst as it did so race
Suddenly light charged into the scene
brightness showed a face so very mean
Next a cry as light touched its skin
gone in a flash, never seen again
I fell back sick and soaked in fear
its darkness still felt far too near
All lights I then swiftly turned on
just to make sure the beast had gone
There where it stood was a black spot
clean it up then I would dare not
Next morn the spot was glowing there
A reminder of the night's ghostly scare

The Darkness Comes, Revelation Part One

The sky opened to a new cascade
a revolution in discord came down
Crystals shattered then remade
all cried, even the jolly clown

A great sword cut all the land
spirits rush forth in dark display
Only the strong took a stand
so easily were they swept away

What difference was death and life
earth had no meaningful replies
Each cut with twist of the knife
sent more pain before victim dies

Revelation,time had now brought on
this blackness seeped in sin
Pain lay under every unturned stone
cursed , were the souls of men

Angel of vengeance then rode forth
fire blazing from his dark eyes
This the prophecy of the far North
of plagues falling from the skies

Dying swiftly became a new relief
disease came forth in each wave
Useless were these pagan beliefs
only sweet death now could save

Yet far worse loomed just ahead
greater misery on a train was there
Such that was better off to be dead
torment spread and ruled everywhere

Down roaring tracks the evil a'coming
echoes sounded of the deepest of doom
Futile those that set out a'running
for darkness found every known room

Five Dark Devils

The last was deeper than the first
he for blood always ravenously thirst
Every cry was for innocent to die
demanded I give it my best try

The fourth came in like a lion
swore my soul was then dyin'
Promised relief if I but retreat
into his cold, dark cave to eat

Third was as slippery as an eel
his every dark sin I would feel
When I refused his every dark wish
made me eat raw meat from a dish

Second, a dancing ghost was he
forced me to laugh and lie by three
Every morn my head felt like lead
as he tossed me out of my bed

First was worst of the bad lot
burned my heart and all I got
Stayed until he was forced out
left with a boom and mighty shout

Five dark devils did torture me
each kept me from living free
All eventually had to fly on away
for light told them not to stay

No More Stones

No more stones,my dinner plate is full
my teeth broken on that hardened heart
Broken, the heavy chain you loved to pull
dead, the horse that dragged your evil cart

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

No more rocks, I am much wiser and older
I see pitch black upon your angel wings
I need a sweet companion just to hold her
with fiery spirit that makes my soul sing

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

No more cuts, the knife is getting dull
waves of blues eat deep into my brain
Holes you drilled into my sleeping skull
birth dark echoes with each aching pain

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

No more stabs, the kind you do so well
secrets we shared call out but I refuse
Tender were kisses and sweet your smell
now darkness looms, one I did not choose

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

No more cries, cries for your sweet love
now fire burns hot,in this living Hell
Mercy arrived today, came from far above
told me,see her as dust in a dry well

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

No more shouts, soft words decorating you
songs I wrote,in praise of your romance
Foolish me,gave you more than your due
wrapped in love,so deep in a blind trance

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

No more stones,my dinner plate is full
my teeth broken on that hardened heart
Broken, the heavy chain you loved to pull
dead, the horse that dragged your evil cart

Whisper softly to me again as you fade
from this damn misery- meal that you made

Why Ever Look Back For You Anymore

Lost my echo in that deep, dark cave
what life could I ever dare to save
Sounds of memories your deceit did drown
clouds of laughs thrown at your clown

The black shadow that you gaily cast
my bleak ship sailing at half-mast
Why ever look back for you anymore
evil laugh, then you closed the door

Time eased my heart's massive pain
your image left the greatest stain
Songs we both heard, sang and loved
on a high cliff but then you shoved
Echo came back to torment me today
bringing tears of when you raced away

Fantastic tales of how great we once loved
I jumped darling, even before you shoved!

Death of My Father

Sunrise seen from hospital window view
his body wasting away nearby
Nothing! Nothing, I could ever do
death was coming and I knew not the why

Strong man lay there in misery and pain
cancer eating away his precious life
Teenage son about to go completely insane
coming fate was just too damn much strife

Darkness played deep in that small room
of what use speed, strength and skill
Against cancer and its mad racing doom
reality was, it is soon going to kill

Now those past memories savagely haunts
with mornings of morbidly saddened blues
After nights of dark spirits giving taunts
pray no others walk in these tired, sad shoes!

Robert J. Lindley

Note: I was 15 and spent 72/96 hour shifts in hospital with my dad as he was dying with cancer.
My brother Ricky and I stayed there during the weekdays and mom came for weekends.
Those 4 months felt like 40 years! I could do nothing to stop what was coming.I vowed then to make
somebody pay for this and it turned out to be me that I punished.
Here I am 46 years later and still see this as the greatest test of my soul ever. Also I see how
it changed me forever.
My dad was sent home to die after his operation. He lasted 6 times longer than they said he would.
Tough as nails was he.
I wrote that poem at age 35, 20 years after his passing.
I think of my dad every day, every day...... Sixty-one and still miss him...

Weather Colloquy

I have seen the storm-
cometh with angry tones
steady in its wrath
dropping massive hail stones

I have seen the sky-
wet earth to its core
steady with its rain
pelting down forever more

I have felt the hot sun-
naked fire upon my back
steady with its heat
so fierce was its attack

I have endured the cold-
winter blasting all about
steading with its ice
wind gusts with mighty shout

I embraced the Spring-
soothing weather to me
steady with its renewals
of birds, flowers and trees

Where Led That Path Not Taken

Where led that path not taken
a tramp into a mist of waving grain
Away from this God forsaken
racing for ever more foolish gain

How stands the present crop
thistles and thorns by the wayside
Will this marathon stop
seeking my shelter calm Bay-side

Will time dare to yield
harvest of sweet, delightful fruits
Can I drop my old shield
steady in faith of my parental roots

Where led that path not taken
a tramp into a mist of waving grain
Away from this God forsaken
racing for ever more foolish gain

Greed, Man's Affliction

What world will mankind create next
using his arrogance as a pretext?
Another sham to satisfy his greed
stealing daily from those in need

Will man next conquer the moon
steal and sell all too soon
Reach out to space to grab more
selling stars from galactic shore

When will the greed ever stop
or man dare reap an honest crop
Could be only after death rebukes
greed's power far greater than nukes

What world will mankind create next
using his arrogance as a pretext?
Another sham to satisfy his greed
stealing daily from those in need

Wood Fairies There Often Play

Deep in that far wooded glen
was a place made for men
Was not so easily found
complete with Nature sound

Comfort for man and beast
just a mile northeast
Great to rest my soul there
peacefulness makes me aware

Wood fairies there often play
stacking rocks in my way
A test to see me step aside
watching from where they hide

Daring to find resting sleep
my soul they try to keep
No malice,just a loving desire
to share their eternal fire

Each visit I must bid adieu
with a, "so sad to leave you"
My friends of the wooded glen
thanks for allowing me in

Always this is the sweet reply
see you in the by and by
You are most welcomed any time
our uniting is most sublime

Each Spring my trek begins
to again see my little friends
As I slowly walk my way in
I marvel at this far wooded glen

A rare free verse write , from my private journal.-Tyr

The Goddess of Nature, A Visit

The depth of the journey ventured!
Across the vast plains I glide: the sky beaming down upon my back.
This my trek-- sends tingles into my hardened soul.
A feast! A galactic flight into the realms of Nature's mysteries.

I stand upon a forested shore, the sun speaks;
the wind beckons me forward into the welcoming glen.
I tread lightly and silently to observe without damage or distress,
the wildlife that now stirs my dreams.

As waves of purest delight enter my mind, the birds sing out in tune.
A melody so fine the earth snatches at the moon!

I hold my position to absorb this enchantment longer.
I am open my heart to grab the spirit,
the olden deity that sees my true soul.
I float in a mirage that mists my face with colors, smells and kisses of glory!

The she appears!
The Goddess of Nature, a raven haired beauty of grace.
Touching my heart as it races to catch her majesty!

This is the scene I saw in my dream before the adventure and day's sojourn.
The beauty of She that holds the sky, the woods , mountains and the seas in her hands.
Time stands still for an eternity , then...
She lets me go,
A release back into my reality.

I again see her handiwork and marvel at this gift.
This creation that mankind fails to appreciate or understand!

All is stored in a memory for replay and wonderment.
A carved image of Nature and her majesty that soothes the ever yearning heart!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prayer Cried Out In The Storming Waves, ( Form- Narrative)

Fought the waves, the maddened tumbling sea
doomed ship sinking swiftly beneath me
Prayers to God,to every saint I ever knew
no desire to reside beneath this ocean blue

Midnight's stormy fury soon moved past
ship gone, me clinging to a broken mast
Fear, the kind that eats into your soul
rebuked my every hopeful impossible goal

Prayers renewed with sad desperate pleas
Lord, let me survive these angry seas
The waves beat me about with great delight
I am tired, give me strength to fight
Master, find all the good that rests in me
save me to do all that you may please

Prayer ended my legs and arms do so tire
as the last ember was burning in my fire
Hope raced forth in a bright shining light
dawn broke forth from that darkest night

The rays hit me with a soft, sweet breeze
so calm,so very calm my soul was at ease
A single gull flew over my bobbing head
Hope cried out,you live, you are not dead

Land must now be very close hereabouts
So tired but that did not stop my shouts
Thank you Lord, this gift I will never forget
I believe, even though I am not home yet

A rescue ship's horn was soon blasting away
saved I'd be on this fine glorious day
Soon I was safe, safe on board her deck
I knew then faith and prayer saved my neck

Captain said, saw your flare just before dawn
thats when we raced and really poured it on
I was so confused and my mind it did so stun
I had no lifesaving flares and no flare gun!

Sweetest Love, Embraces The Moon's Light

Sweet love, grows even as we sleep
against its breast, dares to hold it close
Memories of such nights burn in deep
like the great beauty of a lover's rose

Burning kiss, a kiss so magically felt
into your arms my body quickly flows
As my heart and soul stir to melt
moonlight gifts its majestic shows

Tender hands, that touch my cheeks
creating the dream I fly deep into
Such passion, all a lover ever seeks
eternal hours holding and kissing you

Glowing smile, sends love in waves
dancing long Summer nights away
Your true love my life forever saves
passionate blessing forever and a day

Sweet love, grows even as we sleep
against its breast, dares to hold it close
Memories of such nights burn in deep
like the great beauty of a lover's rose

Sweet love, embraces the moon's light
snatches the heart, dares to hold it tight

Remove Illusion And Its Dark Mask

A nail in each eye may gift light
for to see without eyes is sight
One must hold the heart to task
remove illusion and its dark mask
Ears become echo chambers of fact
heart and soul both remain intact
Spiritual knowledge soon appears
in volume when there are no fears

Clear the mind of selfish thought
victory in battle faithfully fought
Allow the soft breeze to rush on in
Truth of life only then will begin
Defining moment,a magnificent start
divine guidance will play it's part
A dark veil will have been lifted
bumper crop harvested,wheat sifted

Light of Truth requires a new clean slate
our blessing is the power to change our Fate!

True life, true love both are difficult tasks
neither can be had while we wear our masks!

Forgotten Love, So Deeply Regretted

After the fire has burned very low,
the shadows move with sinister look,
You see the place you fear to go
think of the truest lover you forsook;

Did not that Love manifest its worth,
a touch that reached your needy soul,
Embraced your heart giving a rebirth,
remove that all too heavy deadening toll;

And sleep within your dreams a delight,
golden kiss wrapped in softest touch
The greatest Lover never given sight
As you so loved yourself far too much.

Poetry, Lost In My Thoughts

I write my poems in a deep thought
with the pain my life dearly bought
Lost,listening to a vanishing muse
this world's whispers I often use!

Words given by ancient gnarly trees
echoes embraced from tumbling seas
Sounds of silence in forested glen
far away from greed and wiles of men

Cry from distant star or cold stone
shadows dancing by moonlight shown
Fleeting grabs at moments of serenity
promising future gift of infinity

I am giant tree reaching to the sky
spreading my limbs out and so high
Mirror of Life's fantastic desires
a creature cast from heavenly fires

I write my poems in a deep thought
with the pain my life dearly bought
Lost,listening to a vanishing muse
this world's whispers I often use!

Imagination brings sweet words to ink
volleys from ship impossible to sink
Heart beaten into indestructible bell
Sounding red rose,eating its smell

I am a river,flooding poetic page
servant of Nature, slave to my sage
Erupting volcano spewing heated ash
darkness that dares to live to smash

The great joy of seeing a newborn son
elation of finishing a marathon run
Memories of dancing in pouring rain
blessing of finding lost love again

I write my poems in a deep thought
with the pain my life dearly bought
Lost,listening to a vanishing muse
this world's whispers I often use!

Waking To The Call Of A Mockingbird

I woke to the call of a mockingbird
soft,gentle racing notes I heard
A wandering visitor in our tall oak
to me he displayed life and spoke

My window up, catch morn's cool wind
gave sight of my great singing friend
A cheerful fellow was this sweet bird
laughter and joy in his every word

Soon joined by his beautiful mate
perhaps on a fantastic morning date
They sang to me for a long spell
then flew on down the pasture trail

Next a pair of squirrels raced about
chattering so loud it seemed a shout
Bushy tails flying up our oak tree
A Nature scene that so pleased me

Rooster crowed, was over an hour late
more of that,he may end up on a plate
A great day was the promise to be had
having enjoyed the scene I was so glad

Songs that a happy mockingbird sings
treasure fit for the mightiest kings
Waking to such a majestic melodic call
in our red oak so straight and tall
Fine blessing many wish that they had
a memory cherished by this lucky lad

Robert J. Lindley 05-29-2015

Note: Poem was written from the memories of my childhood on
the farm. My father's favorite bird was the mockingbird.
As one would sing the other bird's songs,he would tell us which
bird they were mocking. Such a joyful memory for me!

When The Bells Are All Broken

When the bells are all broken
no ringing can one hear
Soft words are never spoken
loneliness the great fear
Dark shadows enter this mind
blues dance a little jig
This 'ole world seems so unkind
lonely and so damn big
A memory invades the desolation
emotions give way to tears
Such is indeed small consolation
for deep pains and big fears
More thoughts edge their way in
time eats its daily plate
Remember her,my one true friend
my lost lover and soul-mate

The Hidden Sanctuary

The hammering clouds were raining down upon my head
while I trod into this finest glory of Nature's heart
I choose not comforting cover but race onward instead
seeking deep hidden place of which I shall never part

A few hundred steps more I find the bubbling stream
with long winding path running by its snaking side
This paradise is real and not some mad raving dream
Nature's greatest retreat my hidden sanctuary to hide

Pouring rain stops as I walk into this old shady glen
perhaps a given sign of the magic of the ancient trees
Stranger still often happens to lives of mortal men
seeking the paradise they cry out for in desperate pleas

The towering behemoths that guard the paradise flowers
tell me to sit and find the beauty they so kindly give
Wile away in worthy thought the soft refreshing hours
to embrace one of the blessings of we that love to live

some kind of magic healing power. I should know, its healed me several times.

In Sky's Thundering Heart

Within high airy clouds,
No dust chokes the throat;
Sails a white rising boat,
Far below dark shrouds
Covers evil that gloats!

In sky's thundering heart,
Upon a majestic throne;
A soul weeps so alone
And prays for another start
Not cutting in the bone.

With a violent airy rush,
Storm gives relief;
From pained broken belief,
Rises a calm, loving hush.

Within this fine blessing,
A song soon graces,
Smiles on those faces,
Of two lovers confessing;
Missteps in saddened paces

Within high airy clouds,
No dust chokes the throat;
Sails a white rising boat,
Far below dark shrouds
Cover evil that gloats!

Lost And Too Blind To Ever Again See

We gaily danced the long night away,
images emerged of kisses deep,
Brilliance songs our love did convey,
a joy that makes hearts weep.

Happiness flew about for a little while,
as life granted heavenly bliss,
Walking upon Love's golden mile,
our turn somehow we did miss.

We forgot to hold on so very tight,
with words of love not spoken,
Soon we parted without a fight,
both our souls split and broken.

Alas, healing was simply not to be,
love had abandoned it's thrill,
Lost and too blind to ever again see,
saving light upon Romance hill.

I Will Write Words That Eat Out Of My Darkened Soul

I'll not write my poetry with dull sanctioned pen
pay the price with my spirit like other men,
tribute to uniform codes and enslaved dreams
a drone in other people's evil scheming schemes.

I'll not conform to the deadening dry and the dull
a rotted seed wedded to a buried and dying hull,
never one to eat off another man's dinner plate
desiring another path and a kinder poetry mate.

I will walk a road traveled by the rebellious few
a shadowy trail full of spirit and wrapped in blue,
where great apples eat of the tree they hang to die
a jealous mystery, the heart of which refuses to cry.

I will write words that eat out of my darkened soul
wrapped in sweet kindness and glory from the whole,
hearts's love and inspiration dredged from the deep
singing lamentation from the beast that can not weep.

Cut me fast, bleed me down to my aching old bones
curse me out, slay me with righteous angered tones,
burn my spirit with flames of jealous, maddened rage
stomped me to death and enslave my muse , my old sage.

I'll not write my poetry with dull sanctioned pen
pay the price with my spirit like other men,
tribute to uniform codes and enslaved dreams
a drone in other people's evil scheming schemes.

Robert J. Lindley

Note: Do not blame me , my muse has hounded me to write this piece for over
four months now. I yielded only to spiritual torment and enlightened demands.
If I am to be forced to conform by the power of the ruling class I will wage war
until the sky erodes, the mountains fall and the darkest devil dares to emerge to
try to slay us all.

Yes, an amazing talent and one to be noticed.

The Chronicle of the Versemaker

1818
He hears with his ear, used to do it,
A whistle;
He marks, by expiration lurid,
The scripts;
Then reads to people, very busy,
His soap;
Then prints – and into waves of Lethe –
Plop!

He wrote primarily in lyrical poetry but had started writing in prose last few years of his life.
Perhaps the top Russian poetry writer of his era or even any era as many would declare!
I have read perhaps a dozen or more of his poems. Always greatly admired his fantastic talent. -Tyr

It's a great pity that nowadays the majority of children do not read as much as we did in their ages. And they must be pushed and forced to not to become ignorant, narrow minded and one-dimensional. I compare nowadays school program and that of my time and I am really disappointed. Thanks to Lord that I have a home library of hundreds volumes, collected for dozens years. It was a great help to give an additional "home education" to my children and grand children. Besides, I forced I forced them to attend musical school. My son and my daughter are already grateful for this. Grand children are not yet. The time has not come yet. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

Hold My Loving Hand Gently In Your Hand

Hold my loving hand gently in your hand
as refreshing rain upon parched land,
may fate grant our future plan-
A life thus joined to bring great relief,
in a gift granted by faith in God and belief!

As I race within our fast moving dance,
eternal love granted sets this deep romance-
Among our many blessed treasures,
is our son we love bringing such pleasure!

Hold my loving hand gently in your hand

Miracle Salvos Of Thunder's Applause

Above the famished sky
Hungry for the death of sorrow
desperate prayer uttered begging to die,
A storm in which clouds clash and borrow
lightning to burn deep dark regret
of life and hope our souls must forget-
Miracle salvos of thunder's applause
seals the deal and plunders precious cause,
as two defeated hearts ask why!

No airy spirits dare to intervene,
upon the mystic storm and lost love scene!

Estrella No Perdona

I can not change your cold heart,
Or force you to again lovingly speak
Why your choice is we remain apart.
That again, our love I dearly seek:
I can not change your cold heart!

I can not change your cold heart;
Nor storm the many castles you build.
Despite my sad pleas for another start,
you hating me, refuse to ever yield,
I can not change your cold heart.

I can not change your cold heart;
Change your mind, if only I ever could,
forever hold you and never part!
Rejoin our love by any sacrifice I would
I can not change your cold heart.

I can not change your cold heart,
Or remove that hate in your dark eyes:
Behind that stare awaits a poison dart,
to fling at me based upon many lies;
I can not change your cold heart.

Awaiting The Great Mists Of Transcending Time

The last day of memories sits in spectacular splendor
awaiting the great mists of transcending time
Sailing along on dancing waves of love soft and tender
followed by loud echoing flames of the sublime

Deep into the many wide valleys of mystical moonbeams
rests soft bundles awaiting the longing burn
Glorious flower meadows banked by fast running streams
devoid of past cutting agonies our hearts spurn

Streams flowing out in pleasing songs of romantic past
with gentle kissed touches so rapidly hurled
Proof of unending Love wrapped in grace meant to last
blessings given lovers faithful in this world

The last day of memories sits in spectacular splendor
awaiting the great mists of transcending time
Sailing along on dancing waves of love soft and tender
followed by loud echoing flames of the sublime

Shining Gods Of Poisoned Seas

How utterly useless are the sincere Pleas
to the shining Gods of poisoned seas
Words sent forth on a great ray of Hope
find blank images in an empty scope
Longings so in tune to vanities of Man
greed and lusts in each wishful plan
Dark desires in each and every Request
selfish wants for only the very best

How vain are man's deepest dark Desires
evil wrapped in armor in raging fires
Deeds hidden from the scourging of Light
oft carried out by messengers at night
Evil that lingers as it eats the Host
preparing the victim for coming roast
Tortured cries that will only this Seal
sad food for a famished beast's meal

How utterly useless are the sincere Pleas
to the shining Gods of poisoned seas!

Gone, Our Days Dancing In The Splashing Rain

As this our time retreats into faded thought
and our nights of love become a pain
We can both see that with a dear price bought
our days dancing in the splashing rain
Should we again find our way into love's realm
tempest breaking the greatest storm apart
Ship on truest course with heart at the helm
finding treasures not seen on any chart

When hope, our only saving grace fell very far
did we regret the touch of our lips then
Or invite in the misery creating this deep scar
thus viewing all our love passion as sin
What of the sorrow that chills us both so deep
deadly words that slash with no remorse
Nay, the damnation and costs make us both weep
each crying out for a much happier course

Has this time sealed our doom and failed pride
a journey based upon mistakes and lies
Drowning as we fail to cross darkness so wide
death under black waters with broken ties
Never reaching up for that romance saving hand
content to lick and eat our own pride
Saddest traveler into desolation's blackest land
moaning out regret as we enjoy the ride

Will our stubbornness give birth to great defeat
a testament to anger's futile arrogance
A nasty meal we each still find begging to eat
no victory in foolishly killing romance

To Hold Your Heart Out

Those things which a mind will not forgive
burn like a hot coal in tender hands
Such hate allows not a decent Soul to live *------- (finality)
where darkness eats into fertile lands

Ash and soot cling to the fireplace stack
soothing heat in each night's slow burn
Rushing waters flood the gulleys out back *------- (change)
where Fall drops leaves and colors turn

Once your sweet lips were coldly rejected
a sad mistake caused by grievous lies
Desperate because kind heart was neglected *------- (memories)
tears fell like rain from stormy skies

Yet truth came to give its sweet release
when requested to hold your heart out
Your misery grew great and would not cease *------- ( truth)
the unforgivable words you did shout

Those things which a mind will not forgive
burn like a hot coal in tender hands
Such hate allows not a decent Soul to live *-------(finality)
where darkness eats into fertile lands

I Waded Meadows And Cool Flowing Streams

Across the valley I journeyed far
Upon my heart(my spirit soared in dreams!)
Underneath the glowing day-bright star,
I waded meadows and cool flowing streams.

Beauty spoke from this shining land,
of sky, flowers, birds and bees
Deeper still in the tall black oak stand
and greater still, Nature guided me.
A wanderer in its glory so magnificently set
Painted with critters and deep mysteries
amazing wonders caught in its far flung net
Nature's wonders amassed throughout histories!

Across the valley I journeyed far
Upon my heart(my spirit soared in dreams!)
Underneath the glowing day-bright star,
I waded meadows and cool flowing streams.

A Shining Light To Those Still Lost

In that moment, between day and night
the time you may choose to sacrifice
your own spirit, heart, soul or mind
Goodness breaks out with the light
far more than enough just to suffice
seeing past the apathy of the blind!

That moment, you choose to freely give
greatness be it very large or small
wraps you in a magic, fleeting embrace
Perhaps even daring to allow to live
momentary giant that stands so tall
great credit to life and human race!

That moment, the blessing of Love
splendor of giving at great cost
seals great reward to all it reaches
Shall be praised, recorded from above
a shining Light to those still lost
example of true Love that teaches!

Hope Cooks Its Morning Meal

Dark shadows of death it enshrouds,
roaring lightning in storming clouds
Flames it destroys as it dares burn
Hope lives and truly enjoys its turn

Sunset may cloak beauty of the hills
long before creeping dawn-time chills
Yet its mercy screams out very loud
candlelight given unto good and proud

Deep in morn's lingering misty fogs
echoes songs of glistening waking frogs
Far above the ancient nighttime croaks
angels remove earthly blinding cloaks

At the head of the cool, gurgling brooks
Hope sits to eat lively, the meal it cooks!

Darkness Devours Another Soul
(Tenebris deuorat supervenit alia anima)

Deep into his soul, he drank the bitterest brew
reeking of pain and spilled blood in sad wine.
All went so well with this black torturing stew
heartaches and terror fruits now so very fine!

Past sins ripped his heart into pieces of regret
his miseries birthed nothing that changed life.
Prayers given failed and changed nothing yet
storms ate his soul and cast forth future strife!

Laments of crying pain stirred no hearing soul
As the great monster sat for a satisfying feast.
Stopping deep and savage hurt was the only goal
slaying the heart of the massive destroying beast!

Deep into his soul, he drank the bitterest brew
reeking of pain and spilled blood in sad wine.
All went so well with this black torturing stew
heartaches and terrors fruits now so very fine!

The Bloom Off The Flower,The Dying Rose

Old,blind and very ill, they wait to die
Growing cold with chill they sadly lie
Ravages of Time eats away heart and might
Until sunny day becomes a darkened night

In this world Time brings on that spirit
Savaging body,so silent we never hear it
Broken down, resting in an old folk's home
Sad dying souls never again to ever roam

As Death arrives there is no ringing bell
only the one way trip,to Heaven or Hell
Or the trip into a dark and long dirt nap
buried deep into the grave's earthen trap

What was once singing, love and solid gold
now is sin's judgment on these dying old
The bloom off the flower, the dying rose
cries all face it,venturing where it goes!

She Was Twenty-One And Sexy As Hell

She was twenty-one and sexy as hell
her curves rang my lusting bell.
Hair that hung to her slim waist,
her lips so pretty I wanted a taste!

Legs that promised a higher delight
girl I desired every single night.
Eyes that shouted out loving blue,
just promising hot nights with you!

Sweet voice that shouted sexy is me
I the willing flower, you are my bee.
That walk, her hips swinging in rhyme,
caused me to promise her all my time!

First night my eager mind was blown
that body slew me when it was shown.
She then taught me I needed much more,
a big job but she was up to the chore!

Second night,I just barely could move
she had worn out my mightiest groove.
Delights that sear my mind even today,
a hot baby and more I dare not say!

She was twenty-one and sexy as hell
her curves rang my lusting bell.
Hair that hung to her slim waist,
her lips so pretty I wanted a taste!

Note: Written long ago about a hot gal
I have never forgotten and could never forget
Yes, she was one of those! She moved to Cali, I lost track
of her after that..

Love Request Denied Again

All that I once so dearly loved,
Sweet joys blessedly known;
Crashed when push came to shove,
Poor fair now that you are gone!

Pain rips the cool from the winds,
Great sorrows fill my heart,
Once we were lovers, now it ends
As I pray for another start!

An arm offered for your sweet kiss:
You refused with a locked gate,
All of you is what I dearly miss
and cry because now you hate!

I begged for compassion yet again,
Your heart laughed with glee;
Have no desire to only be a friend,
you scoff at my tortured plea!

Pain rips the cool from the winds,
Great sorrows fill my heart,
Once we were lovers, now it ends
As I pray for another start!

Restored Was His Heart, Soul And Might
(The Woodsman)

Hollow place in the woods most deep,
now unmolested by man or by beast.
Reserved for a wise visitor's return,
a promise he swore one day to keep,
when starry night holds a big feast!

Life called the woodsman far away,
into a war he was so sadly cast.
He simply had rushed to take his turn,
sacred duty in life he had to pay,
while praying it not to be his last.

Shell and shock had laid him so low,
laying in a hospital back East.
That vow was not forgotten by he,
April, time came for him there to go,
to partake in a moonlight feast!

Arriving back there with setting sun,
he trekked into forest all alone.
Returning king was this brave man,
a true woodsman and Nature's son,
above him glory of moonlight shone.

Found again the hollow so very deep,
his throne nestled, cozy and fine.
Moonlight and Nature did so conspire,
as he laid down to peacefully sleep,
to ease his tired and troubled mind!

Waking with the soft, wet morning dew,
this king greeted Nature and the day.
Smile that gave all there such delight,
so his life danced and began again anew,
restored was his heart, soul and might!

A Cry For Great Relief

Can not write about lost hope just now
when cheer meets me with morning sun
Rays of applause force me to take a bow
stiffen my resolve and not dare to run
What of the coming night screams made
or heart's pain from an untimely death
Have given all, nothing left to trade
as solemn grief demands my last breath

Nay! Hope rests on distant fairest hill
celebration just waiting for my life
Testament to sacred faith and hope's will
no cuts from this overused broken knife
Spirit awaits another gift Heaven sent
medicine for the sad and wailing heart
All earthly treasures given but not spent
new life granted for another blessed start

One Hope, cast into the hot molding flames
fire created to burn away eating pain
All love and joys arriving with new names
rebirth of the Soul from the dark stain

"I WRITE TO SURVIVE"

`I write to hold onto the dreams that my foolish mind once believed
Could bring me to the light away from the world of the shunned
That fills me with sorrow yet sucks the breath from my body
The light from my eyes, my soul from my being to bring others
The joy that I cry for.

I write to release the years of hate building within my chest
That makes me feel like there are bricks upon bricks on my heart
To help me know that your abandonment will not bring me to me knees
To help me remember that I can move past your violation
And one day give a little smile just for my hearts content
Instead of the worlds greedy nature to make me conform
I write to get away from the pain
from his drunken leers
from her screams
from their tauntings
from my own self hate
I write to release the pain that builds in my chest
That even now consticts my throat
As the tears flow
And the sobs bubble up in my throat

I write to forget how they make me feel worthless and lost
That I can't even look myself in the mirror without feeling ashamed
I write because I can't even lie and say I'm beautiful
I write because I can't look myself in the eye and say that I love myself
I write because I have no one to talk to
I write because I'm scared I'll hurt myself
I write because I feel lost and alone
I write for release
I write to survive the world and my own demons that fight to destroy me
I need to write to survive or I know that I won't make it out alive`

Thoughts On The Rail

I ponder on, this big world, you and I
Does love ride the hard gusting wind
Moving its beauty about in a sunny sky
A journey magnificent but without an end!

I hope, life will forever hold anew
Eternity and the joys of sweet dreams
So often united in the hearts of two
Wading the brooks and mountain streams!

May I know, the joys my father found
The great treasures of his humble life
Spirit flying fast while earthly bound
Far above the din of sin and earthly strife!

Naked, Joined And Not Afraid

Last night, nothing lay between her heart and mine
Naked and firmly locked into each other's arms
Great was the heat, passion tasted a sweet red wine
I happily wrapped into the moment and her charms;
A sinner, partaking in the sweet fleshly delight
Bodies touching , our souls kissing in the mists
Such great treasure found now, each and every night
Spirit yielding to the Love and acts she insists!

Strong were the expectations of the night's embrace
Sweet the touch and taste of our mutual trance
I the driver of memories time shall never erase
She the queen that promised me forever to dance!

Last night, nothing lay between her heart and mine!

As light was shining bright
a shadow crossed the scene
A curse in the day and night
bile spilled from the spleen;
Sickness invades a absent mind
doubts attack with no reprieve
Thoughts invade,darkest kind,
Hell acts daily we must believe

Shadow has now taken its form
light's splendor it now deforms!

Sea Tumbling With Contentment

Beyond the time of complaining
in the fogs of future regrets
Dreaming of short days remaining
and great loves not known yet

Crossing the land of wonderment
could one so in love find
The comfort of soul's placement
or ease of a rested mind

Yet deeper in that enchantment
What is greater than Love

My poem was featured at my poetry site last week and I never even knew about . I've been busy with personal business and the death of my mother-in-law in the Philippines during that time.

Here is the poem and comments about it being featured . I did not post all the comments when it won second place in a contest before that. -Tyr

Majesty Of The Bird Of Prey

Majesty Of The Bird Of Prey
(Eyes of the Hawk)

In wilderness flies the bird of prey
above the earthly fight and battle
Far from immense foaming ocean spray
far above pastures and fat cattle
Gliding along spying for its meal
with those sharp all seeing eyes
Blessed with sharp claws of steel
marauder of the gentle blue skies
Soaring in wait for its coming kill
be it furry animal, fowl or fish
Nature blesses with awe, good or ill
such meaty meals, what a tasty dish

To its victims what a monster it may be
A wonder to we that can much further see.

Note: The splendor and beauty of Nature awes us but there is the savage
side to be seen too. And that savage side teaches us that sacrifices to
survive require the ending of life of others.
Nowhere is that better seen or understood than in the actions of the
earth's predators. Those that fly interest me more, for as young boy
I dreamed of flying thousands of times.

I Shall Not Embrace Your Cold Heart

I shall not embrace your cold heart
Nor look into those vicious eyes
Love exists not on a scientific chart
But in passion and heart's ties

I shall not eat of the jaded fruit
Offering you set at my place
Nor fall for your so sexy and cute
Smile upon such a pretty face

I shall not lie upon the bed you offer
Nor drink from the cup you stain
O' yes, I am now your biggest scoffer
Love broken was my greatest pain

I shall not embrace your cold heart
Nor look into those vicious eyes
Love exists not on a scientific chart
But in passion and heart's ties

Night Terror May Come And May Go

Night visitor no man may ever see
flees the sunny light of day
Late night comes it to visit thee
demanding oaths you must obey
Life knowing such strange things
a torment that eats our souls
Screams blasting forth it rings
burns the mind like coals
Phantom of the dark, evil night
black shadow in light is cast
Apparition sent for deep fright
dire warning meant to last
Songs of dying in deepest agony
scourges of the torture rack
Evil loves this happy symphony
dread promise to come back
Racing away before light of day
come curses of foul and rot
Demons so often do this to play
and still the heart you got

A Look Back

Fleeting the moments of laughter and joy,
Love promises so much more:
There is no finality in the life garnered
Once we see the dread of its end.

So short were the days in the sun:
Where shining dawns offered deep hope
All we once were has now been done
We live and loved in a misty dream.

Let This, Our Hearts Save

In such dreams no light is shone,
When this, our life, is done,
And these, our days, are gone
We look back for the fun
As shadows cross the blue moon:
Again we may find loves of the past,
Hearts not mended too soon
Shadow ships sailing at full mast!

And memories seeking the light,
Dances upon a new shore,
Starlight in the calm night
Serenity forgiving forevermore!

Of all the good and sad this life gave
Let this, grace and honor, our hearts save!

An Imagined Airy Paradise

Birds fly in the bright scarlet sky,
floating often on spreading wings.
Saddened earth below they happily defy,
on shining clouds gladly resting!

An image burns in an imaginative mind,
earth below seen so many other ways.
Such dreams inspire and serve to remind
heart's joy, love our life conveys!

What of this imagined airy paradise,
scenes that thrill so our hearts
That pleasure in dreams may suffice
despite time lost in waste carts!

Tyr, you never fail to impress me with your writing. It is all quite inspired.

Reading some of your passages reminded me of something my daughter wrote at the beginning of the last school year. Her literature teacher wanted everyone to submit something to a journal that was being put together of student works. The compositions went direct to the publisher. As opposed to being approved by a teacher first.
A few weeks later, the literature teacher got a response from the journal people that she shared with me. The person who read my daughter's submission stated "the student who submitted this work is deeply disturbed and needs guidance and counseling."

I am not afraid
I am not afraid of your hatred
Not afraid of your lies
Your smiles do not mask your hate
Your teeth are white but your soul is black
You can not fool me
You can not deceive the world
You talk generosity but your hand is in my pocket
You talk morality but your hand is up my skirt
You talk intelligence but you do not pass the test
You talk peace but there is blood on your clothes
How can I love my country when you keep destroying it?
Your smoke fouls my air
Your guns kill my animals
Your oil clogs my beaches
Your money buys my leaders
Go ahead and laugh, it suits you well
It's your world, you bought it
Not for long, though
Time will pass soon enough
Eventually I will be in charge
And you will be gone

Nine Inch Nails Driven In My Brain

I stopped waiting on earthen fruit,
guns to fire but I can not shoot.
Nine inch nails driven into my brain,
snails crawling in thick bloody rain.

I stopped asking for sweetened lies,
sickness baked within hollow pies.
Cuts embraced to feel the sweet pain,
stick in deep, let red be the stain.

I stopped begging for more misery,
you that laughed at my mercy plea.
Seven inch blades twisted to bleed,
answers never given when I plead.

I stopped begging so very damn long ago.
You that lie to feed your deceitful show!

No time today to play or sing
must move fast to stay afloat
Life is one huge endless ring
me with large hole in my boat

Never fear for hope holds true

We survive, that's me and you
Our life we choose not to abort

Words written in rapid speed
More sweet time is what I need!

Hope Gives, The Mind Defeats

Morbid grows the mind on such nights!
When dark eats into the resting soul:
Time stabs in stinging sharp cuts:
Mind burns up with coming evil sights!

Morn cheered with brilliant lights:
Sunny day draws to a trudging rest:
Night's promise sinks into the dark;
Mind burns deep with such evil sights!

Shakes start from the coming fights:
As time brings its eternal dark foes
Heart resolves to hold its courage,
Mind burns up with coming evil sights!

Life holds up the days sweet delights
As jewels upon a royal saving crown,
Darkness battles to destroy that glow
Mind burns up with coming evil sights!

Knowledge brings the rescue of rights
As dawn births its dancing scenes,
Rays of hope drop the black curtain
Mind defeats the coming evil sights!

Shadows Resting On Stones

I follow the birds of night seeking a roost,
place to rest my old, weary head on high.
Looking down below for my heart's big boost,
as the lonely eerie darkness drifts on by!

I follow red racing lines of my future fate,
on paths strewn with big jagged boulders.
Seeking deeper knowledge of life not too late,
fill this head resting upon my shoulders!

I follow a ghost of her soft, sweetest caress,
thin mystical veil of gently mercy sent.
Behind the wail of all that I dare confess,
sins, pains and past life so ill spent!

I follow the shadow of a fleeing old man.
From the boiling pot into the frying pan!

Dead Stones

In a graveyard well beyond our view
lay traces of past deeds in stone
If seen the horror reveals its true
death allows no way to ever atone!

Beneath sod and dirt lay deep rot
in dark the remains waste away
Found no way to keep what they got
never again to see the light of day!

Beating hearts embraced the greed
evil set the darkest racing tone
All given up to steal as they need
rot turning hearts to solid stone!

A dead stone below, paid headstone above
Too late, never found ,life is about Love!

The Rushing Storm

Storm found my body gently at rest
it rushed in with an angry blast
Did its worst, then did its best
I had no time for it was too fast!

As the clouds smothered my views
the thunder rang upon my ears
Sad when we finally get our dues
yet such has to bring its tears!

Bold lightning stabbed the sorrows
each one cutting firm holding ties
Looking for far sweeter tomorrows
bed shaking where my body lies!

Nobody saw but this tale is true
bad sneaks upon us in such acts
When we may sleep without a clue
storm hits us with painful facts!

Live Life, Love Deeply

Life is sweet mists in the trees
rides on a floating rainbow
Smooth sailing on calm blue seas
sunshine to make Love grow!

A dance that spreads pure joy
music soft, slow with wine
Duets with a girl and a boy
flowers blossoming so fine!

Promises of the romantic nights
days filled with epic song
Tours of many wonderful sights
love deep and forever long!

Paradise exists for each heart
a crown for true pleasure
Believe in it, give it a start
life is the greatest treasure!

Usurp the Usurpers!

Is it enough? The fat in the FIRE?
Let the blind now lead,
the inept now force,
heedless of our revolting ire!

What about the intense rage of WE?
The builders of the house,
the defenders of new Rome,
travelers that do truly see!

Can our silence blast out a ROAR?
Force blind people to see,
wash away the filth created,
open up a victorious rescue door!

Nay, tis never enough. Life DEMANDS.
We fly with eagle wings,
across trampled terrain,
defying the evil in blind commands!

Never fear, let them finally see
brave beast resting within you and ME!

Robert J. Lindley, 07-12-2015

Baby, Those Were The Days I Still Want

Those were the days, this the life I made
I drank too damn much and stayed away
Life so fast, wild and filled with pretty girls
Sexy bodies, pretty faces and long curls!

I smashed your memory into hard pieces
Sold my broken heart for short leases
Drinking my pain until it took me down
Raised holy hell all over this old town!

Baby, those were the days I still want
Still miss you but know that you don't
Every damn night burn your memory down
Mornings wake to find me still a clown!

You were my life and my greatest history
Your heart and love are still a mystery
Darling,we were the moon and the stars
Now I drink and close out the late bars!

Baby,you were the blue sky,the cat's meow
Want you back but simply don't know how
I died just to put that wrong life far away
And in these memories have my heart's say!

Gone forever are those much wanted days
My cries hurt so but this pain never pays
I put your sweet heart and mine out of play
Sad memories serve to hold my heart at bay!

Those were the days, this the life I made
I drank too damn much and stayed away
Life so fast, wild and filled with pretty girls
Sexy bodies, pretty faces and long curls!

The Gift, Then The Complaint

Gladly if only, I had nothing to say,
I could just murmur and walk far away
Instead I write to spend my new day
doing so with no acclaim and no pay!

This life can be so mysterious indeed
first you may refuse to stop or plead
Yet time brings its own eternal whip
a cut each little time you dare slip!

No great solace lasts more than a week
future may grant but tis' only a peek
A sight given to beg the mind to see
To climb the tallest mountain to plea!

Of course the world cries out to stop
toss away the fine broom and dirty mop
With much deeper sinister cry and hue
dire threats blast you right on cue!

Gladly if only, I had nothing to say,
I could just murmur and walk far away
Instead I write to spend my new day
doing so with no acclaim and no pay!

All The World Races Away , While I Pause

I will write yet again this sweet night,
cows need milking , the barn cleaning.
Sunny morn but this place is a sore sight,
critters need feeding, fence is leaning!

I will hold my thoughts until sunset,
a chore that allows me to still give.
Sure life is a gamble, a very sad bet
yet we must learn to love and let live!

Do not sorrow for my poor saddened cause,
there is gold in the clouds, a kiss awaits.
All the world races away , while I pause
to tempt her and curse the darker fates!

Stand Next To This Given Fire

In that olden time, the world was so new,
The trees glowed, roses were only blue,
Within the heart of man Hope was born:
Eureka!
Her heart spoke to my long lost soul,
Her eyes gave this command to me,
Stop! Your hate takes an evil toll,
your darkness is bitter froth in the sea!

Lay your head on my comforting breast,
your spirit needs a deep rest
A fire started by God's own hand,
a storm loaded with greatest joy
Heal now, be your very best,
find that loving dream as a little boy!

Bring along the new found inspiration,
a promise cures now your desperation,
Stand next to this given fire
Rest your bones, hold on before you tire!

As the flames warm your soul, touch mine
you found love and eyes that do still shine!

Thunder Gives Its Preceding Applause

The Rain gifts blessings multi-fold,
aided by its sister Wind, earth reaps.
Bounties plentiful, harvests gold ,
as into awaiting soil it seeps.

Fields cry for the coming spray,
showers sent to man and beast.
If withheld we begin to truly pray,
so that we live and may have a feast.

Echoes in Heaven announce the Rain,
thunder gives its preceding applause.
A gift, same as in our births pain,
we must conform to Nature's laws.

Skies above gift this blessing down.
Upon earth's thirsty, waiting gown.

Robert J. Lindley, 07-18-2015

Note-
Nature's gift, this bounty we receive,
Gods love, even as Satan deceives
Look up to give returning praise,
for from death only He was ever raised....

Sunshine Upon A Dark Day

Great lamentations sadden this dark room
And cries held back cut the silent tears
Such young death displays a tragic doom
As survivors fight back their deep fears!

Yet outside the sun shines deeply bright
Day holds promises for those still living
More heartache will rip out this night
She is now gone, gone is her sweet giving!

Listen, angels sing this great loss now
As light filters into this lonely place
She lays there with no sweat on her brow
with sweetest smile on her beautiful face!

Night has fallen, we now feel very alone
She- the light on our souls, is now gone!

Seeking the day with its bright shine
this glow sings a little dancing tune
The heart says this old world is mine
as were the good times this past June!

And as this day races forth to unfold
treats lay waiting before my eager eyes
Blessings for the brave, loving and bold
soothing day under sweetest sunny skies!

Tonight will gift so very much the same
hours holding the love and life so dear
Needing only life and love not any fame
joy and happiness erases all dark fear!

My Imagined Vixen

My vixen is blue with gold bouncing in her hair
She swims in my mind like a lost mermaid
A storm brewing rapidly upon a calm ocean
Nights she lets loose with romantic favors
Touching my every desire in intimate ways
Eating my heart while holding me back each moment
She flies with birds while taunting the glowing moon
Commands stars to twinkle in rhyme with my moans
Strokes my ego while soothing my spirit
A vixen to the core and leaves me wanting ever more
Washing my feet while I marvel at her dainty feet
Singing my favorite songs with music from thin air
Whispers words that ease my soul and stokes my fires
No pains can stay when she caresses my aching mind
Ravishing beauty no other man has ever seen
Temptress that never fails to please and inspire

Mere words fail me when she holds my soul
An icing on cake a mile deep and wide
Sweeter than honey on a buttered biscuit
Smile that fades the stars and makes the moon cry

My vixen , my vixen we see eye to eye
She that hold my days in her hands
My nights seep into her bosom and cry for more
My vixen , my vixen, now and forever more
My vixen, her love I will always drink
And stroke her bouncing gold hair

Hope Rests On Distant Fairest Hill

Can not write about lost hope just now
when cheer meets me with morning sun
Rays of applause force me to take a bow
stiffen my resolve and not dare to run
What of the coming night screams made
or heart's pain from an untimely death
Have given all, nothing left to trade
as solemn grief demands my last breath

Nay! Hope rests on distant fairest hill
celebration just waiting for my life
Testament to sacred faith and hope's will
no cuts from this overused broken knife
Spirit awaits another gift Heaven sent
medicine for the sad and wailing heart
All earthly treasures given but not spent
new life granted for this blessed start

One Hope, cast into the hot molding flames
fire created to burn away eating pain
All love and joys arriving with new names
rebirth of the Soul from the dark stain

Epitaph On Embraced Denial

Rocks falling from so many dark night skies
Rotten fruit baked into newly prized pies
Evil racing in disguised as fine new light
For we not blind by this enlightened sight!

Storms now called lovely soothing breeze
Glory and praise heaped upon broken trees
The new thought given out as purest gems
Broken vows pretending to be faithful hymns!

Stars shining on man on sad earthly ground
Fail to expose decrees so wickedly unsound
Life now races on a long deeply false path
Lies told on why we now reap God's holy wrath!

O' man! Why not seek what you absolutely deny
That without God, our souls shall never fly!

The Dance, The Lady And Longing Thoughts

As the moon beams upon her happy face
Stars light her brilliant blue eyes
She the sexiest lady dancing there
Flames burning into many lusting minds
A glow emerging in one long lost, sad heart!

This night feeding glory and pleasure now
Her dress flares up as she spins about
Raven hair shining out upon the crowd
Goddesses envy her soft grace and charms
The strength in her poise celebrates life!

Each dance gives more admiration and glee
Softly answering yes to each dance request
Such beauty wrapped in a humble glow
She a princess in mind , spirit and soul
And we, we the admirers- seeking her hand!

Now, Just Let It Be

Far behind, dear life stood very still.
Cry went out- Save me please!
From ashes to heart raced that chill,
shaking he stood, weak at the knees!

No medicine could grant needed relief,
where spirit fell on its own sword
Only faith, steadfast in holy belief
could defeat the darkest invading horde!

Across the new found meadow was HOPE.
Miracle sent forth from up on high .
Horizon opened up, given greater scope
Soul breathed easier and began to fly!

Far ahead, sweet life could then see.
Beautiful scenes promised to reward.
HOPE spoke out, now just let it be
Soft and easy what was once very hard!

Karma, Not a Sweet Candy

She laughed deeply when she told me goodbye.
Down in my soul, my heart, I wanted to cry.
Suddenly vanished were our wedding plans
Me a busted flush, her four aces in her hands!

Confusion ripped savagely into a torn mind,
I wanted to give pain by replying in kind.
Do not let the door hit you as you leave.
I'll put your trash out for you to retrieve!

She smiled with that devious wicked look.
Spit, "count on it, write it in your book".
With her sexy body she slowly retreated.
I stood there deject and totally defeated!

I saw that car I bought just race on away.
There was nothing to do, now nothing to say.
Sidewalk soon had all of her junkie trash.
While at the bank, she got all of my cash!

All did finally turned out for the best.
She the cash, I got the jewels in her nest.
A hefty haul, I know having bought them all.
My heart hurting, she took the biggest fall!

When remembered she tried often to call.
I laughed, phone unanswered on the wall!
Karma, kicked in early that most sad day.
Her mistake, caused her to so deeply pay!

She laughed deeply when she told me goodbye.
Down in my soul my heart wanted to cry.
Suddenly vanished were our wedding plans
Me a busted flush, her four aces in her hands!

Goddess Of Sweetest Desire

Eternally strong, forever soft and free,
Her life spread as wings of a dove.
Fragrant fruit on Nature's fairest tree.
She that so displayed her true love.
Earth could not hold her dancing glee,
Even within its throngs of spirits fair--
music gifted from Heavenly song,
angels thrilled to her image see,
became brighter that moment and more aware;
While happiness came racing on in,
She the fantasy of mortal men.

Hoping that Fate to her life be so kind,
her admirers sent their praise and thanks.
Sight given to those formerly so blind,
miracles sent from majestic heavenly banks!

To her Nature bowed its lofty head,
with pluck sang a streaming, gentle song
And increased her deep love instead--
this she knew, gift so very great and long,
found a path where angels and Gods tread!

Mists of time gentle to her beauty were,
all yielded to the hands of Fate,
such were the great blessings given her--
vanished any vestige of mortal hate,
She the sympathy of the Fates did stir!

Memories, Of Majestic And Wild Ride

Forever and defying black storms at play,
no longer young and full of zeal.
Seeking first the lost joy in each day,
the old man sometimes got his thrill.

Sunrise toasted heart and stirred Love,
a beam of Hope deep within his mind.
Softened calls from the morning dove,
served to set him aglow and then remind.

He could no longer hold onto the dead,
she that fired his spirit and Soul.
Yet always, he remembers words she said,
how Time raced with its goal and toll.

Thoughts on life to be actively loved,
gave energy for his passionate flight.
Each sunny day hit him hard and shoved,
imagined beauties visiting him each night.

Yet always, this memory haunted his mind,
how darling wife said , Yes forever I do!
And how he cried deeply replying in kind.
They together each morn their love renew!

Forever and defying black storms at play,
no longer young and full of zeal.
Seeking first the lost joy in each day,
the old man sometimes got his thrill.

The Color Of Her Eyes

I sent her my all, my very best
Rainbow flowers wrapped in true-
expressions of love and tenderness,
all the goodness she was due!

I sent her, gentle touch each day
An echo of my eternal burning fire-
so hot, so hot it melts the sky,
birthing each day great Love anew!

I hold her, with hands that need
Kind that knows no mortal bounds-
soft petals on this wild flower,
saving both hearts that so bleed!

I hold her, in joy we are blessed
Life sings us a paradise realm-
where each moment fills our heart,
on a ship with Eternity at the helm!

The color of her eyes told me all!

My Heart, It Was Quite Sound

I felt my heart, yes it was quite sound
So love could invade me once again
Not so innocent, I have been around
All at stake , nobody knows the end!

As she walked by, a star blew out
A chance to get her into my path
Then a man gave her a loud shout
His voice so full of raging wrath!

She turned and raced into my arms,
Her breath and smell sent me aloft
I knew , she loved my magic charms
That fine body and breasts so soft!

A moment and the man lunged at me
too bad for him, I hit back hard
This beauty still holding on to me
This gambler had found a wild card!

Next she asked, will you save me
That brute always follows and fights
Cries that he will never let me be
Watches me in the late lonely nights!

Into my truck we raced so far away
Once again, my mind thought what luck
This has to be my imagined perfect day
This beauty kissing me in my truck!

What is that damn awful blaring sound
Awakened then, saw my sweet dream end
Me all alone, nobody else was around
Vanished away, my beautiful , sexy friend!

I felt my heart, yes it was pounding
There was no stopping me this time
Gone were the grave doubts hounding
My poetic writings, loves and rhyme!

That moment I knew my next best plan
Grab a fifth and quickly drink it down
Sleep deeply to find her love yet again
Yes, I see her coming in that nightgown!

Even worse, it was deep longing for a beautiful girl that would love me as deeply as I loved her. Hence the dream that painted our meeting and romantic tryst. There was one girl that I let get away and that poem was written with her in mind.-Tyr

Gooooooooood poetry inspires thoughts in others. They may be good, bad , happy or sad.
The message in each poem should bring out something in the reader.

Moon Shadows, The Gift Found

Hair so dark and beautiful, image so pure
sexy goddess, enchantment was her allure
Nights of bright, full moon she came to me
between the shadows in the moonlit trees!

Time stood still during love filled nights
each visit, more ravishing were the sights
No thought of tomorrow while in her arms
such the power of her beauty and charms!

Long summer nights gone, she vanished too
Memories served to hold my romantic review
Then a dark hair beauty came to our town
I could swear it was my goddess come down!

We dated, found out she was from far away
could be, my goddess had come down to stay
Full moon nights, sweet the celestial view!
Some angels come down to earth, who knew?

Dreams flood out from times so long ago
Loving memories of her sexy celestial show
Now I watch and cry out to the full moon
Angel will you visit me again, any time soon?

The Fight, The Prize And Fate

I fought you viciously for my dear life
You that puts dread into long, dark nights
Deep mental cuts were like a sharp knife
Blood gushing forth, horrific sights!

Fought you alone in the midnight hour
Cursed you into deep hell each day
You that cuts down youth's eager flower
Kill all bravely standing in your way!

In the black caverns you cast forth
A chill resides to eat on my bones
Colder than icy wind from the North
Time eating curses uttered in sad tones!

Victory over your void I will not gain
For time yields to no earthly power
Yet my fight will remind you yet again
I fought you, fought until the last hour!

So Very Deep This Beast Lays

Under the darkness of earth, a cavern lays
Great evil rests within, in an eternal rage
Mortal man cries for help and this sadly prays
That this demon never gets to go on a rampage!

Earth trembles as it claws into solid stone
Cries of anger coming from its fiery head
Knowing it can briefing come when we are alone
We cry out, save us for we are soon to be dead!

Once every month granted one hour of escape
Evil beasts roams the world devouring its few
In dark places dressed in top hat and black cape
It awaits to slay and devour both me and you!

Brief freedom given, return it is forced to do
Back into God's deep dark prison cell to hide
Great Hope living, if the beast never finds you
Few ever can survive its vicious, slashing pride!

Careful to be silent and watch your every step
Monster waits to come forth to grab its prey
If you are the victim, only this will ever help
Look up, fall on knees, pray God forces it away!

Just A Natural Thing

Emerging into the coolness of the frost on the ground,
Nature calls deeply to my soul with its sweetest sound
Fall has sunk in with its widespread leaf killing bite
The wild woods so naked present a less appealing sight.

Sunset breeze stings much more in its calm and cool way,
Nature demands more from furry critters in hardship pay
Owls know the coming change will bring them more meals
Drastic change spreads across meadows, woods and hills.

This coming bleak and savagely measured epic onslaught,
a lethal trap to the many critters unprepared and caught
No mercy given in Nature's most wrathful and cold season
Nature demands weak and sick die, survival is the reason.

Spring awaits killing off of the useless, and its unneeded.
Its garden must flourish with beauty after its been weeded!

Advice For A Love Lost

Each pain, the heart so dearly felt,
Nothing can soothe denial sought;
Cards hidden,aces so cruelly dealt,
love,true love,can never be bought:
Clear streams flow from snow melt.

Each hurt,brings arrows shot deep,
Nothing eases the sting given;
Wet tears, rain from the sad weep,
Misery,seeds of the unforgiven:
Price to pay no matter how steep!

Each memory,treasure of the mind,
Nothing paid can be forgotten;
Lost love,sad,cruel and unkind,
darkest decay so bitterly rotten:
Live a lie, heartache you may find.

Sad Taste Of The Bitter Truth

I tasted victory, rode an angry purple sky
I that so loved glory, never asked why
Waves splashing about upon a raging sea
there was no rescue, not ever for me!

Crying out for, true justice in my old age
dead were the memories of a bygone rage
Think of the sad futility of fighting on
when life means nothing and love has gone!

I found sadness and empty echoes rang out
that misery was Fate's first forward scout
Dark night engulfed me, my destiny came
no glory for one that fought in such shame!

I tasted victory, rode an angry purple sky
I that so loved glory, never asked why
Waves splashing about upon a raging sea
there was no rescue, not ever for me!

The Winter Blues

Winter blew in with a scant little whimper
Fall skulked away with hardly a peep
Deep cold, blowing winds fit some's temper
Yet others they sadden enough to weep!

Snow brings it's beauty and shining charms
frigid air sets furry critters about
Blizzards blasting forth set great alarms
where frozen forested cries ring out!

Nature knows best and gives as she pleases
hardest season sets the coming stage
Death and pain, of which Spring then eases
time for each, says the wizened sage!

Return Of The Bright Red Sun
(Red- number one )

The Red Sun had hidden away for some years
no blood red to inspire with glowing sheen
Back again, those fiery red crocodile tears
Love had died, she was only a lonely teen

Dark days, she cried - please give me Light
her sobs fell upon deaf ears- apathy reigned
With no heart, no purpose- no use to fight
Bleeding heart, torn dress and life stained

Hiding in a dark and badly painted room
shadows raced above her small trampled bed
So nasty, a curse repeated about her doom
wishing death, she refused to ever be fed

As sad dark curtains slowly dropped down
blasting forth a wave of Red Sun light
Set aglow, the red rose adorning her gown
Her heart rose to follow this divine sight

Bread Laced With Sorrow

This bread laced with great sorrow
death comes today or tomorrow.
This life was once a very great gift
now even that memory can not uplift!

Sweet longings,her soft,loving touch
mere ashes,burnt notes,now not much.
But deep down hope whispers it's love
rise up,embrace the echoes above!

Shadows, they start to talk about hate
the sins in the cakes this soul ate.
Tears try to sail from this tired face
dreams once treasured, mind does erase!

This bread laced with great sorrow
death comes today or tomorrow.
This life was once a very great gift
now even that memory can not uplift!

Silent Walking

Silently I walked
each step a determined grin
goodbye-
to farm and its great toil
next stop big city and glaring lights.

No farm could hold me back
there was spring in each step
Searching for all I did lack
Away, my heart and soul was swept.

Dust flew as my pace quickened
past receded into a mist
no more Sun baking my mind
no more farm that my soul sickened

Looking back on that fateful day
ghosts dance in to that dream
There was nothing in my way
Wide path cleared, so it did seem
Yet I was then set to dearly pay

Trading farm work for factory grind
each day a horrid chore
Dull blades cutting into my mind
Saddened, I had expected so damn much more
Life gives but can also be so unkind!
Reality, reaLITY, O' what a bitter bite!

I left a bright flowing river
just to find cold and painfully shiver
A fool that dreamed of vast riches
soon was digging ditches
Yet surviving brought me to a shore!

I live, love and sing once more!
Thank God, I live once more!

Dark red colors spring into view
Autumn feast wraps eager trees
Winter issues early pleas
Cold breezes form long overdue!

Gold springs in the season dance
Nature awaits more vibrant hues
As Winter sends racing clues
All a certainty, nothing by chance!

Green races far into a distant past
Life braces for a drastic change
Colors splash , such varied range
Some wish, season to forever last!

Life births so much scenic pleasure

The Dying Of The Light

The dying of the light,
offers no saving hope
Dark brings more fright
hangman has his rope.
Mind eats its own bread,
sorrow plays a game
Who cares if you are dead
life is evil and often lame.
Future waits for no man,
death lays traps with glue
No good to have a great plan
if the devil is truly after you!

The dying of the light,
offers no saving hope
Dark brings more fright
hangman has his rope.
Tomorrow hides from today,
pain slinks in unannounced
Too many, too little pay
imps waiting just to pounce.
Cry for help and more light
the echoes serve to please
The devils of each midnight
eat crying souls with such ease!

When Heart Was Healed

When you came,
I knew fate was kind,
Nothing was ever the same
stolen heart and captured mind.

When you smiled,
I knew your love was great,
Missing hate, I was too beguiled
poisoned words you fed, I ate.

When you ran away,
I knew fate was kind,
Not missed was your lying way
True love, I could never find.

When heart healed,
I knew fate was kind,
Finally true love was revealed
heart danced sanity into my mind.

Satan Bellows Out, God Answers

Hear me, Satan bellowed out in a mighty shout
I Rule the Universe and all must bow to me
I that stalk the earth spitting volcanic fire out
stir deep oceans and swirl up the raging seas.

My hand that paints this earth with great fears
can destroy millions with a single damning curse
Sailing the Universe, billions of ships Evil steers
Mankind fears my wrath knowing it to be the worse.

Every being alive sees and so greatly fears me
Master of disease, pestilence and all bloody wars
Man has been made a slave and a slave shall he be
I Shoot - death,sickness,torture,pain and scars.

Behold my majestic splendor, all my awesome might
Death rests in my words, burning flames in my mind
I decide what shall be unholy good or evil night
Even God fears me and all of my dark demonic kind!

Suddenly a voice boomed out and light beamed down
God spoke, yes you are arrogant in casting fears
Your wickedness sorrows me and sadly I now frown
You fail to learn Love and for that I shed my tears!

Mankind fallen and with death you had their Fate
my Son's mercy and grace has now redeemed them
No longer chained by the darkness of your hate
Salvation and paradise by his side now awaits them.

Now bow to the Heavens and the stars now shining
bow to man and the glory by faith he has awaiting
You that bellow and sicken all with your whining
Banished are you and yours for all the dark hating.

Begone from my sight, back into your hellish pit.
I'll endure no more of your hateful, childish fit!

Satan retreating, shot back in a loud screeching hiss.
I shall shoot again and by all Hell I will not miss!

Medusa Or Sexy Siren, Memory Debates

I felt it was time to just let the hell go,
walking away while you screamed and cursed.
There was no fight then made just for show
an instant decision, one I never rehearsed.
Whiskey had me ready to battle, fight a war
my nerves were shot but courage filled me.
I remember that day- it is still a bad scar,
evidence of the day you forced me to hurt me!

I walked out into a steamy hot August night,
knowing that move was to be set in hard stone.
You looked in awe at that unimaginable sight,
sat there and cried like a sad child all alone!

I look back at your face from memory I saved,
there was anger, fright and hate dancing there.
My leaving was an act far too damn long delayed.
Like a Medusa, you gave me that hideous stare!

Yet at times, that face clears and is replaced.
By your beauty, dressed up and all in sexy lace!

Time And Death Serve The Same Master

Time slowly eats away old people and solid rocks
when heard, comes with hammer and hard knocks
Shadow spirit coming within a dark misty cloud
sparing nobody be they young, old or too proud!

Streams flows from its onward racing unseen head
desperate cries and pleas, food it's gladly fed
Death and Time, ghosts riding the same sad rail
each its own free agent for Heaven and dark Hell

Eternity says that Time over Death is the master
Hope awaits each future, does no good going faster
Man fears both,so often crying sad, desperate pleas
Saddened waters cast upon vast unrelenting seas!

Time slowly eats away old people and solid rocks
when heard comes with hammer and hard knocks
Shadow spirit coming within a dark misty cloud
sparing nobody be they young, old or too proud!

Sunrise, Heaven And Nature Conspire!

At sunrise, when morn breaks into sweet day
Darkness, eases into another far lost realm
Light returns to splendor in its bright way
Sun-ship glowing, celestial giant at the helm!

We that rise up to see this wondrous event
soak in its beauty, holding its glory fast
Our future embraced and our past thus spent
each day's memories and hopes sail at last!

Heaven and Nature conspire to give that gift
hours await to explore life's great dreams
Darkness fled, giving again blessed day shift
full of promises riding magnificent streams!

At sunrise, when morn breaks into sweet day
Earth gives man time to love, dance and play!

Awaiting a future change in Spring's first clue
while in frigid forests chills blast in so deep!

Across vast plains winds cut frosty sky on down
upon icy snow covered and white faced ground.
Out race children in a snow covered nearby town
to frolic and play in the whiteness all around.

Winter's nights, hold a larger, brighter moon
more light to display beautiful snowy scenes.
Many cry this beauty vanishes far, far too soon
wishing to hold it there by any and every means!

Winter's heart, skies filled with the cold blue
Soon furry critters will begin another sleep.
Awaiting a future change in Spring's first clue
while in frigid forests chills blast in so deep!

Fierce cold eats into the valleys and the hills
where many dread its beauty and cutting chills!

Robert J. Lindley, 08-16-2015

NOTE- This time of the year my mind always turns
to winter and its fierce cold. A thing that I so
often dread. Even as a child I would have traded
the snow and its beauty/play , for warm weather any
day. Summer is my time ,always has been. I love
hot, weather and girls too. - -Tyr

A Vast And Exploding Night Sky

I dreamt of a vast and exploding night sky
lights by the billions soaring on by
Silence was fast dancing,I know not why
waiting for message as night did fly!

Each breeze flickered the big glowing sight
and thoughts matched the echoes of glee
Love touches waltzed with the beaming light
each caressing the yearning heart in me.

I dreamt of an angel, winging right on down
whispering she sought true deep love
As she fluttered there in her brilliant gown
winged beauty from the Heavens above.

I dreamt of a vast and exploding night sky
lights by the billions soaring on by
Silence was fast dancing,I know not why
waiting for message as night did fly!

No sound, the utter silence danced its tune
So strangely missing, was the smiling moon!

Those Days, I Want To Ride Again

Those days, I want to ride again
to let her enter my heart anew
No longer lover, no longer friend
our love we each sadly blew!

She came into my life in a dream
bluest eyes on that beautiful head
Greatest treasure or so it seem
now hearts crushed, love so dead.

I watch her cry, sadly walk away
my heart choked off my words
Love's dying made us dearly pay
grounded like blinded birds.

Months trudged by, misery raced
whiskey my only comfort fails
The ending finally must be faced
coffin ready for the last nails.

She too, lived so sick and broken
in dark corner, wasting away there
So many months we have not spoken
live or die she has not a care.

Yet-

Those days, I want to ride again
to let her enter my heart anew
Be my lover, be my sweet friend
our renewed love, wrapping we two!

Dog Gone , Bone Search

Seeking, this yard, looking for a bone
not a cool drink, just not for me
A bone, a bone, master still on the phone
but, there, there is my favorite tree!

Sweet release, now back to my hard task
cat races away, why I have no clue
If only there was somebody here to ask
and where hides a big bone they knew!

Over there, fresh dirt shows a treasure
buried beneath must be a large bone
When I dig it up I can then just measure
while master stays busy on the phone.

Mine at last, the great prize I so graved
so tasty, this delicious treat
Should I keep it and have it engraved
or yield to hunger and just eat?

Great quest it was, certainly no lark
a bone, a bone found was this food
Time to scratch and let out a loud bark
this delicious bone sets that mood!

Master races out with same bowl of crap
bone now gone, I ate it so quick
Time to ignore him, pretending a nap
I may be only a dog but I am still slick!

Time, It So Cleverly Slips Away

Time slipped, slipped into the sunset mist
looking back, I saw only half done list
There was that trip to a green island shore
never arrived there, missed so much more!

Time raced, quickly raced so very far away
Looking back, heart sinks into dismay
There was her hand, that touch forever gone
never gotten, was her sweet love alone!

Time fled, fled into that bitterly dark sorrow
looking back, heartache eats tomorrow
There was love, gathered at such a dear cost
never gotten, greatest treasure now lost!

Time, time why ever did you dare race me?
The faster I chased, the faster you did flee!

Old And Holding Aces

I am old, youth lost does so deeply hurt
no more whiskey drinking brawls,
now slow and tired feeling older than dirt
no longer chase the pretty gals at all.

I am old, bad knees and snow on my head
no more , wild nights out dancing,
watch late news, now fall asleep instead
gone forever are my days out prancing.

I am old, can see the doorway awaiting
slow stepping my way over there,
Love-life over, no more sweet mating
I now can only sadly look and stare.

I am old, just damn glad to have now made it!
Now do I, hold onto my two aces or do I split?

Storm And Thunder, We Didn't Listen

We met, raging waterfalls glisten
our hearts ate into our souls
Storm and thunder, we didn't listen
love burned as red hot coals!

Its was Spring and clear sunny skies
your whispers melted into my mind
Time stopped then suddenly it flies
my heavens, what a sweet find!

A single night, such a sad separation
your body I craved every hour
That face, heart's great inspiration
your soul, a delicate flower!

Every moment became another feast
we together, my heart a'singing
Your smile, rising dawn from the East
your voice, sweet echoes a'ringing

Summer came, we found greater loves
waltzing in the cool rains
Soon we became birds, nesting doves
our lives aching with no pains!

We met, the waterfalls glisten
our hearts ate into our souls
Storm and thunder, we didn't listen
love burned as red hot coals!

Thunder Storm
Kathleen M. Martin

`As thunder rumbled, wondered I:
How come this grumble from the sky?

And lightning flashed and tore asunder,
This very sky that I stand under!

Hot and humid was the day,
In that sticky summer way;
And hot air thought it would be wise,
To take its stifling clouds and rise.

And so the clouds of cumulus,
Gave themselves and upward thrust.
At break-neck speed, they did collide,

With cold air on the other side.
Hello! Said hot air to the cold,
(Which made the clouds upset, I'm told.)

For at their tops, in their defense,
They carried anvils, quite immense.
But hot air flashed cold air a smile,
Which could be seen for many miles;
And cold air cried in great delight,
Which shook the sky with force and might.
Clouds, unimpressed and unafraid,
Began to rain on their parade.

But people just below on earth,
Alarmed at hot and cold's great mirth,
Dropped their chores and ran for cover
To give privacy to these two lovers.
For love, although we think it warm,
Can be as violent as a storm.

She That Sought Stars, Caught Only Me

She that sought the stars, instead caught only me
with no money no fancy cars, I was a stoic tree
no deep lover's arrow pierced my stolid heart
stars had made our love firm in its eternal chart!

Bright moon beamed its approval with a deep glow
its love rays reflected back from the whitest snow
there was an image resident in her beautiful eyes
of sweetness and a longing touch reaching the skies.

All fell into united dream, paradise was our bond
becoming beautiful lily pads in our Eden's pond
she that made this soul dance and joyfully sing
life held both our spirits and my soul made king!

Universe less vacate, as this love filled its space.
Eternity our reward, as future happiness we now face!

Dead Men Do Tell Tales

I saw, the rot of sad, deep selfish desires,
burning endlessly in clever fires
Piles of cash a tall mountain high
stolen by those that cleverly steal and lie
six lying days every week ,
while they race into church pretending
to be ever so mild and meek

The preacher crying all to give so much more
while he lives in a mansion with a golden door
drunks living with no other life
have sacrificed family and wife
naked women on the the street,
selling their pride and body like meat
hustlers getting rich selling poisonous dope
as they hang themselves with an evil rope

I looked for solace and found there was none
just endless cowards crying on the run
A world teaching wrong is so damn right
blind monkeys never seeing the light
dancing in fruitless trees,
tree-rats eating with relish their rotting cheese

Looking for Spring to bring life anew
I too am blind and without a damn clue
a fool holding onto a false hope
on a tight leash and even shorter rope

Where is the miracle we each think can come
we see it shining there for some
A treasure glaring in the glimmering Sun
gifted not stolen by guile and a gun
So I finally turned to family for relief
ease my Soul, winter in my long lost belief
that Life must give us all a saving line
other than more food when we sit to dine

Monkey Often Doing Just As I Please

Ahh yes, I swing in one of those fruitless trees,
a monkey often doing just as I please
yet dare to think to have so much more
salvation on a far away dazzling shore
My arrogance is in my daring to wish to be better
a fool writing fantasy in an inquiry letter
Is death the only, the one saving grace
a vacation from this sadness infecting the human race

I wonder, can man ever journey forth without greed
without pride of the darkness in his seed
with the guiding light pointing to that place
where joy and love beams in every shining face
All the vanity I once held firmly, so damn dear
was no more than vanishing suds in my lousy beer
Standing now to look over my own selfish deeds
I see a child still lost in the tall, tall weeds
sometimes crying for help to rush on to rescue
is sweet salvation only for the chosen few

Spring came when I had completely given up on me
a beaten man , crying out in a desperate plea
Once I had lost my arrogant, foolish pride
I had no shelter in which to stupidly hide
As darkness raced to force me into its trap
that restraining leash did finally snap
I took one step into the waiting light
away from darkness of that life enslaving night

The Dying Of The Light

The dying of the light,
offers no saving hope
Dark brings more fright
hangman has his rope.
Mind eats its own bread,
sorrow plays a game
Who cares if you are dead
life is evil and often lame.
Future waits for no man,
death lays traps with glue
No good to have a great plan
if the devil is truly after you!

The dying of the light,
offers no saving hope
Dark brings more fright
hangman has his rope.
Tomorrow hides from today,
pain slinks in unannounced
Too many, too little pay
imps waiting just to pounce.
Cry for help and more light
the echoes serve to please
The devils of each midnight
eat crying souls with such ease!

Hope Held, Forever Loving Like This

Left behind, glory and tragedy, fateful twins
Left behind, love and hate, desperate foes
Left behind, courage and fear, never friends
Left behind, youth and beauty, just way it goes!

Looking ahead, wealth and fame, seek great highs
Looking ahead, faith and love, aim even higher
Looking ahead, comfort and hope, time so flies
Looking ahead, earth and paradise, not a denier!

Memories found, long and deep, O' sweet joy
Memories found, love and nights, such hot love
Memories found, favorite shade tree, as a boy
Memories found, her hand in mine, like a glove!

Hope held, days in love, nights in sweeter bliss
Hope held, finding out Heaven, to be so like this!

Risking The Perils Of The Long Road

Sitting so happily silent as a sleeping toad
Wild forest stirring my thirst for adventure
Sun wakes me, soon walking down this long road
Racing stream alongside a great thirst quencher.

Ahead are fields of gold covering acres of wheat
I hear fantastic thrills and ladies a'calling
Mystery awaits the bold, the dreams I shall meet
Not to fear the wickedly bad and the falling
Happiness, song and love- food that I shall eat
Onward! Now time to stop the useless stalling.

My mind dreaming of the first lady I will kiss
There is pleasure in the sweetest anticipation
And love dancing my life must never dare miss
Songs flying forth to claim her great adulation.

Each curve sends me into its beautiful new realm
Where Sun sets on my heart's dearest destination
Treasures and dreams in the bounty, so overwhelm
Spirit soon speaks in joyous and dear affirmation
Ahead a golden palace shines in its deep creation
Granted the miracle far beyond humble expectation.

Never again sitting as silent as a sleepy 'ole toad
Treasures ahead, risking the perils of the long road!

Loving A Beautiful Vanishing Spirit

Coming in a flash, vanishing into the night
A mirage or spirit that so tempts me.
Each midnight longing for delicious delight
O' the misery when she races to flee.

Tempting her to stay longer with a song
singing of radiant and soft love.
Slowly increasing, nursing her to stay long
song brings angels in from above.

First steamy night in the month of June
a trap was so very cleverly set.
Beneath the glow of a love beaming moon
we blessedly and miraculously met!

As her light changed into that soft flesh
my heart exploded with deepest joy.
We danced, our souls then magically mesh
moment of rapture we both did enjoy.

For months my ardor did massively grow
our relationship, sweet song in tune.
With unbelievable loving memories in tow
from disaster, surely we were immune.

Alas, cruel fate, that tormentor so dark
cut in to sow jealousy and despair.
Reality became a monster ravenously stark
her leaving loomed large in the air!

Night filled with heartache and epic pain
she cried that she was to go away.
Her sad words set me ablaze and insane
desperately begging her to stay.

This our deep love, tis' not meant to be
she cried fleeing forever into night
I was a ship, you the splashing blue sea
forever, I now must dock out of sight

Words that haunt my every sad waking hour
memories of eyes that ate my soul
She the diamond that gave us loving power
I was but the humble lump of coal!

Sweet Words, Touches, Nights Of Pure Bliss

She, that flower resting next to my heart
Her laugh, an echo into my feverish mind
Cupid had accurately cast that loving dart
memory so soothes me in this mental rewind!

Beautiful lady advanced in mental charms
Petals in her radiant flower, seized me
My heart racing, my mind sending alarms
Yet love told me to grab on and not flee.

Recalling stars shining on our first night
As Heaven beamed down its glowing approval
We both, cried for this love at first sight
Longing for eternity, giving death's removal.

Sweet words, touches, nights of pure bliss
Paradise had crashed into our little world
Thank God, this pretty angel I did not miss
As her light was sent me, by a heavenly hurl.

My teacher, taught me, first how to dance
Made my heart opened up with gentle tears
Romance blossomed, nothing was left to chance
This love was the treasure that it appears.

She, that flower resting next to my heart
Her laugh, an echo into my feverish mind
Cupid had accurately cast that loving dart
memory so soothes me in this mental rewind!

Our Private Moments, Dreams In Fairy Fields

All of you, your smile, captured all of me
Was no mistake, my heart was not denying
Your love-kiss had power of a splashing sea
You captured me, this heart tis' not a'lying!

Fairest of all, with red rose in your hair
Cursing the world every time you walked away
Missing you hurt and gave me a mighty scare
My heart ached, as walking away you did sashay.

Our private moments, dreams in fairy fields
Nights there on your softest satin sheets
Such depth, pleasured love giving its yields
Ecstasy raging in, as passion flows and heats.

What we once had, fleeting but so very rare
Rainbow treasure, gold heaped in mythical pots
Life gave, heartlessly took away, tis' not fair
Fate's savage firing hit me with all its shots.

All of you, your smile, captured all of me
Was no mistake, my heart was not denying
Your love-kiss had power of a splashing sea
You captured me, this heart tis' not a'lying!

PROSE FROM POETRY MAGAZINE
Author’s Note: On Writing with Bashō, Buson, and Issa
BY MATTHEW ROHRER

In the past I did a lot of collaborative writing with Joshua Beckman. We wrote hundreds of poems together, published a book, went on a tour across the country, and released an audio CD of our live improvised performances. I’ve never had more fun writing than during that time, and it affected the way I’ve written ever since. If a poem isn’t exciting and surprising, and isn’t actually fun to write, I have to stop — I don’t trust it, and why should the reader?

One day last year, on the subway back to Brooklyn, I felt stymied and sluggish in my writing, and wanted to collaborate with someone, but was all alone. Or so I thought, until I remembered I had Robert Hass’s beautiful haiku anthology in my bag. I had Bashō and Buson and Issa with me, and so I turned to them. They were challenging partners. I tried to write lines that sound a lot like them, while using lines of theirs that sound as modern as possible. For me these poems were thrilling to write; the act of responding to the other partner in the collaboration is like a live performance, even when it’s just on the page. I think that in the end Bashō, Buson, and Issa did not mind.

What Fantasy, Just To Think To Touch Her Curves

Flowing from her curves, hot buckets of steam
She the sexpot, in every man's lustful dream
With her smile, a man's imagination could fly
Worst words she could ever say, would be good-bye!

What fantasy, just to think to touch her curves
Her soft touch could rattle any man's nerves
That voice, rivaled angels above gladly singing
When she moaned, historic echoes kept a'ringing!

There was such treasure in the sight of her legs
So much that sooner or later every man begs
The vision of delight, the sight of her breasts
Refusing such charms, nobody had passed such tests!

Flowing from her curves, deepest desire ever known
She the devil's bride, tempts by just standing alone!

A Night Walk, Nature Then Talks

Forgotten, my life,my dear sweet sorrows
images fading fast as deeper I invade.
Nature sings, cares not for our tomorrows
nor our vanities we so foolishly made!

Forrest path was wide and very well worn
I had walked hundreds of time before.
This night my mind and my heart both torn
my wife had just walked out the door!

My flashlight was not needed much at all
full moon spraying light on the ground.
I reflected back to our love and its fall
how love troubles follow me around!

Yet farther I went, calmer my soul became
mother Nature sensed my agonizing pain
She was assuring that she'd be the same
giving me a renewed spirit like rain!

I saw night creatures scurry all about
watching me with those glowing eyes.
My heart almost happily sang to leap out
beauty came and my mind felt the skies!

Starlight merged,shining moon cried aloud
trees then began to very softly speak
Starlit night-sky without a hiding cloud
warm tears were now wetting my cheeks!

Why O' why did my dear wife wish me to die
had not I bought her this sweet land.
Nature showed me lonely in the night sky
sometimes leaving is taking that stand!

Then an owl called out its lonesome hoot
there was healing in that great call.
Had I not my life and good health to boot
life again could be a dancing ball!

Nature moved me to settle this great hurt
to enjoy so deep the God gifted scenes.
Allow the heart to again dance and spurt
Grab onto hope by any and all means!

Forgotten, my life,my dear sweet sorrows
images fading fast as deeper I invade.
Nature sings, cares not for our tomorrows
nor our vanities we so foolishly made!

Returning now, down this old well worn path
stars and moon spraying ever brighter.
Gone were pains and my dark and evil wrath
heart and soul soothed and much lighter!

Those Times, When Memories Are Better Than Gold

Those times, when memories are better than gold
there is worth in finding such a lost thought
Remembering youthful energy, affirms I am now old
if only distant time could be stored and bought!

What of a bright future, that may not ever appear
past loves can hold ever closer future hopes
Looking back, so often can nullify greatest fear
no avalanche on memories brightened slopes!

Let the mind find its begging and desired road
such soft magic in our memorable day dreams
Can change the ugly prince into a beautiful toad
living in and around bubbling cool streams!

Alas! Curse the forgetting shadow of despair
where snow is always a blizzard so deep
Think again, see the color of her eyes and hair
remember greatest treasure before sleep!

Those times, when memories are better than gold
there is worth in finding such a lost thought
Remembering youthful energy, affirms I am now old
if only distant time could be stored and bought!

Faith In A Dream A'calling

I thirst,
give me water from the tree,
of divine knowledge and light.

I desire,
wisdom to live and be free,
light to make keen my sight.

I pray,
pure heart to faithfully give,
thoughts that hold so true.

I beg,
true love to hold and live,
heart and soul set to renew.

I feel,
happiness floating in time,
family that holds me steady.

I know,
heaven to be so very sublime
and this spirit sits on ready!

No doubt,
we going into another realm,
where light gifts eternal joy.

I await,
ship with Master at the helm,
spirit nothing can ever destroy!

Landing In My True Love, My Angel Soars Down

Looking at her dainty hands and smiling face
there in the light her heart shone
Such sweet, pure love one can never replace
first earth-bound angel I have known.

A red rose in her hand and glow in her eye
she was the magic in my every dream
So very perfect, so damn pretty I could cry
if together, wading our love's stream.

Truth was, so scared was this brave knight
fear of losing what I did not yet hold
Almost lost her being too scared of her light
just like a small child, seven years old.

Next our eyes locked and that smile she threw
there were love words unspoken sent
Life had been so boring but now all was so new
if only a first date she would consent.

As I imagined a life we could someday enjoy
she slowly rose walking on over to me
Saying, you look so lost, like a sad lonely boy
there my heart says, stands a lone tree.

Looking at her dainty hands and smiling face
there in the light her heart shone
Such sweet, pure love one can never replace
first earth-bound angel I have known.

The rest is our sweet history and life in love
she holds my heart in her right hand
My angel had soared down from heights above
right into my true love she did land.

Soft Whispers, Blowing In The Wind

Sweet whispers, blowing in with the breeze
wizened words of HE who must be praised.
Sheer serenity, setting troubled soul at ease
gently reminding me of how I was raised.

As those words sing in rhythmic rhyming tune
I feel an invisible hand hold me steady.
A soft touch of divinity on this night in June
assurances, my heart and soul are ready.

Sweet whispers, they sing to me so very loud
songs that praise the One that is Risen.
Yes, his love is that which we should be proud
HE, that released our souls from dark prison.

As life gifts me, these whispers to hold tight.
Love and joy now blesses me with all its might!

Inside My Head, My Muse Too Often Rages

Muse, please stop that raking inside my old head
and those stomping feet keep me awake too late.
I love other nights and your words I am often fed
even the scary ones about my coming tragic fate.

Know that this is not a raging and silly complaint
there is far more to me than madness and glue.
Yet too often your words, good words, they ain't
Set me to curse some of the wicked things you do!

How about that night you twisted my deepest love
added in words about my secret lustful thought.
Then the time you cried out, kill that damn dove!
Yes, tis' true my heart and soul you have bought.

And why can not I write one without your blather
are not my own brain birthed words fine and great.
No thanks, kiss you send is rejected, for I'd rather
you took long vacations and did not keep me up late!

Before you fly FAR away mad as a bat out of Hell
please help me with that dark poem, I am stuck.
Did I mention that I truly think you are so swell
No my friend, I'll not lay down in front of a truck!

Yes, you did toss into this write some sharp words
a strong positive you sometimes so generously add.
No, my aching head tis not full of old and lazy birds
I command that you now be sweeter and not so bad!

Hear me again, stop chattering and you just listen.
I want big stars, deeper love and words that glisten!

Muse, please stop that raking inside my old head
and those stomping feet keep me awake too late.
I love other nights and your words I am often fed
even the scary ones about my coming tragic fate.

Heaven Glowing In Harmony Non-Stop

Heaven glows in, softest blue harmonizing non-stop
as it rains, they gently fall in golden teardrops.
Bold colors decorating the palaces that so shine
serenity prevails and as its loving hearts entwine.

Heaven sings about, great joy in knowing the Lord
forever to explore all, nobody ever gets bored.
Angels sing and roam about the magnificent skies
all feeling happiness there and nobody ever lies.

Heaven invites, all in faith with Father and Son
to reside in happiness there, love must be done.
Nights are lit entirely by a giant moon's glow
sweet music and dance exist in each Heavenly show.

Heaven holds dearly, words of Trinity and Love
absolute bliss reigns, insured by our God above.
No deep malice or dark ill will dares to invade
all is a celestial picnic and resting in the shade.

Heaven fulfills dreams, each a joy that is profound
circle of contentment exists, forever deep and round
Each thought a miracle, blessings arrive every hour
all rests in safety no need for a tall castle tower.

Dark And Twisted, Another Bloody Body Awaits

There she lies, bloody dead at foot of my bed
How the hell had our love morphed into this
Throat slashed, body decaying without a head
Smell of rotting flesh and grossly stale piss.

Cold reality now just a dark and ragged blur
Every day ghastly, morbid scene eats my mind
Absolutely no memory of savagery heaped on her
House sealed up tight so nobody can ever find.

Red in rage, memory from bloody ages long ago
Now burdened with a lovely but rotting mess
Facing each day, a scene from a horror show
Fearing discovery of my greatest, dark distress.

A dream that night, slashing a monster's throat
Walking around in sweet red blood and gore
Satan pleased with this finely sacrificed goat
Now dark and twisted, soul demands even more.

Lurking in a long dark alley in this small town
Obeying murderous, mad urges torturing me
Waiting to seize and bring another girl down
This darkness not resting, my soul's evil sea!

There she lies, bloody dead at foot of my bed
How the hell had our love morphed into this
Throat slashed, body decaying without a head
Smell of rotting flesh and grossly stale piss.

Brave Men Wade Into Shadows On Death's Ground

Power of one secret word can shatter all,
send men into war and deadly harms way.
Dead and dying on battlefields they fall
for dead glory and pittance of pay.
Brave men wade shadows on death's ground
duty bound, praying for divine reprieves.
Bloodshed reigns, ghastly deaths are found
Dark Lord lies, that eternally deceives!

Curse not legions of those fallen brave,
honor rests in dying for a true cause.
Heroes die in pain, as madmen simply rave
wasted lives best give deeper pause!
Blood gushes from spears with iron tips
lives depart in battles forgotten.
Charon sings out about his many trips
ferrying bodies gashed, dead and rotten!

Honor embraced those that fought dying well,
others lay in dark forgotten graves.
Charon took their lost souls deep into Hell
where misery lives, nothing ever saves.
No records exists of battlefield dying words
testaments of mouths gurgling red blood.
Rotting flesh, meals for hell's carrion birds
maggots feasting upon blood soaked mud!

Fear one secret word that can shatter all
duty, honor fail when wrapped in lies.
True warriors live to answer a just call
seeking life later in Vahalla's skies.
Serving truth in defending freedom's fate
they may find death to not be so hard.
Each knows with death they do have a date
and joker resting on at least one card!

Power of one secret word can shatter all,
send men into war and deadly harms way.
Dead and dying on battlefields they fall
for dead glory and pittance of pay.
Brave men wade shadows on death's ground
duty bound, praying for divine reprieves.
Bloodshed reigns, ghastly deaths are found
Dark Lord lies, that eternally deceives!

We Held The Fire And Ate The Blaze

We held the fire and ate the blaze,
And love sang in its fantastic musical tones,
Such was deep pleasure we sought to raise,
Living on our love and meager bare bones.

You cried when I begged for your sweet hand,
Swearing our love would forever last,
I was so worried making such a bold stand,
Praying you would not remember my bad past.

Exultation came when you cried out- right now,
I truly knew your heart had embraced mine,
And had accepted my risky pledge and vow,
Giving me all of you, my darling so very fine!

Life gives and blesses as it tumbles onward.
With eyes wide open we must look forward!

The Golden Winged Angel Arrives

I saw a horse, its rider cloaked in flames
galloping downhill into a stream.
Creature was cursing, shouting out names
evil lived, in that nightmare dream.

Following raced demons of various stripes
clawing into defending soldiers true.
Shouting darkened curses, vile evil types
swearing death was mankind's due!

Drinking blood of their victims slain
eating, biting into human flesh.
Feasting on gore and the cries of pain
as the weak and fallen they thresh.

I saw a winged demon fly into the mêlée
each swoop crushing victims down.
Coal black and so very massive was he
with finger bones on his crown!

Battle raged on, desperate was the fight
death grew, as did agonizing cries.
Carnage and misery ruled that dark night
souls casted in hell as a crow flies.

All seemed lost, miracle could only save
those men battling dark forces.
No bodies buried in a celebrated grave
flesh eating, this menu's courses!

I saw bright flash, thunder echoing sound
demons instantly started to fall.
Their black bodies sank into the ground
upon a Golden angel's first call.

Light had arrived to oppose darkest foes
prayers had summoned this power.
Demons lay about in their death throes
faith gave victory in the last hour!

With victory cry, Golden angel flew away
survivors soon fell to bended knees.
Victory race in, moment men fell to pray
God hears and acts on faithful pleas!

Waking, found dream had indeed been true
I saw specks of blood upon my bed.
Yet, there found was an even better clue
gold-dust falling from hair on my head!

Old Man Sitting On A Bench In The Fog

Deep in bitter remorse, red rose in his shaking hand.
Contemplating why he had murdered her that dark night,
how even cut and dying, she had made her valiant stand.

The Deadest Hope In The World

The deadest hope in the world to hold
To be truly youthful when one is old
To race about with eager quickened pace
Innocent smile upon a softened face,
Willing hands to love yet again,
The envy of many jealous, fellow men
A finer vessel sleek, pure and true
Charming lady dancing along with you!

Adorned with steadfast heroic words,
Flying free of earth like the birds,
Wandering into majesty of the clouds
Far away from teeming earthbound crowds
A God sailing alone in the night sky,
Enjoying a blessing, not asking why!

Autumn Scenes As Nature Presents

The wild deer grazes meadows still in greens
And great red hawk soars in sunny blue skies
While the peacock struts and so proudly preens
Black crows resting, bellow out their cries.

Beavers are busy reading for winter's wrath
And squirrels find and then store more nuts
Black bear silently walks its well trod path
Still yard-bound the beautiful peacock struts.

Ravenous weasel scurries about seeking food
Secure in its defense the skunk moves about
Forest humming in this peaceful, serene mood
Valley below, farmers work bringing crops out.

In tallest pine on highest ridge eagle sees
All of man's activities so far down below
Now soaring in clouds above forested trees
Majestic high flying image puts on a show.

The wild deer grazes meadows still in greens
And great red hawk soars in sunny blue skies
While the peacock struts and so proudly preens
Black crows resting, bellow out their cries.

Thinking Only Of His Hungry Children's Pleas

Treading down the path to massive stand of trees,
dedicated father with worries in his head.
Thinking only of his hungry children's pleas,
he rose early from his warm and cozy bed.

He raced onward a sharp axe in his right hand,
hard work and sweat would not stop him.
Ready to gather up part of this abundant land,
he whistled, softly singing a bible hymn.

His only rest, was stopping to eat around noon,
his mind again turned to his hungry kids.
Harvest this bounty and bring home food soon,
saddened how their life had hit the skids.

House fire early last year had taken all they had,
still recovering, he prayed for relief.
He had loved ones, his life was not so bad,
almost gone was his self-pity and grief.

Sunset, now he could go collect his day's pay,
race to a store to buy his family food.
Thanking a merciful God,stopping only to pray,
sweetest blessing came changing his mood.

At home at last, food cooking on the stove,
this father mused about his lot in life.
Living in a new home in a beautiful oak grove,
he thanked God for family and dear wife.

April, Sweet Sounds Of Life

April, Sweet Sounds Of Life
( A Bird Singing To Me)

Sweetest, softest sounds I ever heard
were sweet notes of a mockingbird.
Sitting up high in an old, dead oak tree
far above busy hive of honey bees.

April is here with its wet, hard rains
hitting us like many wrecking trains.
Warm winds start replacing chilly cold
as we long for those happy days of old.

Joy sounds in the notes of mockingbirds
like sweet whispers of a lover's words.
Please, listen today if you think you can
will cheer the soul of any lonely man.

Robert J. Lindley -04-17-2014

Note- This poem edited today and more details added
primarily in the note.
This poem was written based on a memory from
decades ago. A visit to my favorite woods. To my favorite spot there
and my resting under an old elm tree. Moments later a mockingbird
flew and landed on the old dead oak tree in front of where I rested
and serenaded me. Just as IF it had been sent !! In fact, it stayed there
until I got up to leave and followed me right up to the road where my
car was park. I noted that strange bird behavior..

O Send Me A Rose On A Gold Tray, A Rose

O send me a rose on a gold tray, a rose,
And wait for summer's midnight hour
From the epic gleams of light you I chose,
And the color in bright meadow's flower.

Hold love's soft embrace firmly in hand,
Where your breathe whispers in glee
Dancing in time having not hear the band,
Forever memories, memories of you and me.

A red rose gracing your long dark hair,
Sweetest echoes rang out in my mind
From first touch, knew you truly care,
Forever united our hearts we find.

Splashes of color, gleaming on that rose,
Your grace matched that brilliant flower
How we both knew that moment God knows,
We swam in the river flowing love's power.

O send me a rose on a gold tray, a rose,
And wait for summer's midnight hour
From the epic gleams of light you I chose,
And the color in bright meadow's flower.

A Rainbow Sings

Prismatic rainbow graces sky many ways
with brilliant hues of multicolored rays
picturesque goniochromism sings to decorate
a ketch with Tyrian purple sails out late

Sepia hue tinges this kaleidoscopic scene
monolexemic shades threaten to richly preen
majestic phenomena seen in sky embraces
mists, vanishing clouds and aurorae traces

A Rayleigh Scattering sets rainbow apart
miracle that sends opalescence to impart
this sky mingling multitude of colors now
as red, orange, purple and yellow take bow

Interwoven within this prismatic awe inspiring view
Hopes and dreams of inspired poets like me and you!

Stand In The Shadow Of A Tall Mountain

I went, to stand in the shadow of a tall mountain
not content to sail the deep blue seas.
Delicious sweet that bubbling brook, my fountain
amidst the flowers and massive tall trees.
Morning Sun brought glory within shiny bright rays
splattering across the wilderness cover.
To live, embrace the wonder of such majestic days
fly into the clouds there and just hover.

Solitude bringing into life clear and soft sounds
echoes that quietly invade my searching mind.
Daily Nature walking, doing my eager long rounds
every moment expecting another great find.

Watching the grazing of the skittish, wary deer
mind's glow steadying my new racing heart.
Imagining magnificent beauty wrapping me all year
the paradise held aloft in my soul's chart.

Each Spring this wilderness destination is my goal
trekking into this deep forested retreat.
Wrestling with dark pains eating away at my soul
knowing this place staves off my defeat.

I race, to stand in the shadow of a tall mountain
not content to sail the deep blue seas.
Delicious sweet that bubbling brook, my fountain
amidst the flowers and massive tall trees.
Morning Sun brought glory within shiny bright rays
splattering across the wilderness cover.
To love, embrace the wonder of such majestic days
fly into the clouds there and just hover.

Bitter Tears Will Never Stain Your Face

You broke this loving heart, knowing not how
bitter tears will never stain your face.
As you seek love's pleasure only to take a bow
I realize my own, my own foolish disgrace!

Within memories of long and hot steaming nights
pierce shards of jagged and broken glass.
You that promised faithful love , sweetest sights
turned vicious, wicked and so damn crass!

Our last night, you promised deep love forever
instead I found your sharpest gut shots.
Hit me, sent me into dark and sad world I never
knew was full of your hates and evil rots!

My disgrace was still giving you another chance
a night for you to again slash me deep.
I gave my all, this heart dwelt in true romance
while yours lived in treachery you keep!

You broke this loving heart, knowing not how
bitter tears will never stain your face.
As you seek love's pleasure only to take a bow
I realize my own, my own foolish disgrace!

Fate Graces Me Now, A Rainbow Filling Up My Sky

Softly slumbering in the shadows of my sad past
until mercifully forced opened eye at last.
Revising all the sweet memories filling my heart
fearful that these too may someday depart!

As I roam forth in the midst of never ending time
my imagined glories, are they worth a dime?
Is it too late? Basking in glow of setting sun
Will I find, imagined victories were falsely won?

The long nights with lovers I imagined very fine
were dreams enlarged to fit a pleasing frame.
Hot love, meals on which I did so eagerly dine
nothing more that foolish romantic games!

Nay, dare not think such a sad, terrible thought
pierce my side, just to see if I am dead.
Such are not sweet fantasies my desires bought
or foolish, mad ramblings resting in my head.

Looking back, time so clearly shows those gems
images my Life declares lovingly true.
Like gold laced borders on royal garments hems
each one of a majestic colorful hue.

Fate graces me now, a rainbow filling up my sky
I dared not to dream of such in my old age.
He never succeeds that dares not to ever try
to live is to gamble, says the bearded sage!

Halloween And Bloody Body Parts On Roast

Soul saving, mad ravings shine without stars
dead thoughts spin upon a dark wheel.
Bluest blind eyes stored in large pickle jars
deep cuts, gladly met with a squeal.
Dark rooms full of gore and bloody dead things
treasures a monster loves to collect.
Hands rotting, fingers still holding gold rings
nasty and dusty from beast's neglect.

New additions, coming soon on Halloween night
boys and girls, their cut off bloody ears.
Monster does far more than just terrible fright
to instill in the kids deep ghastly fears!

This night, brings out goblins, ghouls and ghosts
human body parts, on fires these monsters roast!

Dreaming of Elysian Fields

Those dreams of Elysian Fields I so miss
gentle days by the Okeanos flow
Soothing nights with you in such bliss
our souls flying with hearts in tow

Long days spent on the Fortunate Isle
walking the shady parks of Pindar fame
You dancing, dressed in golden style
loving echoes of you calling out my name

Cronus dare not take your sweet hand
for fear of my defending assault
We sing and dance with angelic band
in pleasure our true love has bought

Elysian angels dancing at your feet
the chorus of admirers a great throng
All is perfect, our lives a treat
joyous eternally in our own love song

By the Gods, your beauty breaks ground
your eyes, pools of pure liquid blue
My treasure, your pure heart I found
My blessing, a joyous living with you.

Hate, A Raging God Unto Its Darkened Crown

Hate like a tightly strung guitar, waits
for invisible touches that will set.
Burning torches against strong wooden gate
bring ashes from blazing hot sunset.

Can a deep hater ever see into dark soul
reflections that shatters his eyes.
Blind in his diggings, like some mole
immune from pitiful victim's cries!

Alas! Hate shadows heart's weakened pleas
black circle invading its sad plain.
Birthing mighty storms upon once calm seas
often its host goes completely insane!

Hate, a raging god unto its darkened crown.
Deep blackness that burns innocence down!

In Response To My First Poem

-Inner Spirit-

A true and fighting spirit within us all surely must lay
beneath this weak armor made of water and clay.
Has it been destroyed in your life and soul,
by seeking comfort, pleasure and another goal?

Waken it if it still remains to be used for greater good
stop playing the excuse of, if only I ever could !
Renew that gifted spirit to stiffen the weakened spine,
take strong stands and draw many a hard line.

Truly sad that we get only one weak human life to live,
copy virtue , kindness and learn to sacrifice and give.
Be noble in courageous thought as well as in all your deeds
courage often springs from the smallest of little seeds!

My Response

He remained true to a dedicated and uplifting vow
Although, a weak vessel made of red, cracking clay.
Years had taken a slashing toll, in great pain now
Yet his huge heart still sang out in its own way!

That terrible destruction time always seems to wreck
Dark, sad seeds planted in so many weakening souls.
Such looming obstacles hindered his long, lonely trek
Prayed he each day with faith to reach all his goals!

As many did in truth point out his stinging defeats
He begged pardon, crying his heart did remain true.
Only after helping others in their successful feats
Could his heart and soul celebrate with all of you!

Shining inner spirit, resting most secure in his mind
Watching as his last candle flickered and burned out.
Forever praying that deep love and faith all may find
Lights flashing, he flew away at the first angel's shout!

I Need Ink Racing Into Castles With Dreams

I need to write myself long letter of cheer
pat on my old head to revive my flow.
Will not do, few drinks of whiskey or beer
my cracking heart is sad, black as coal.

I need that juice to crank up this brain
fire up these tired old aging cells.
Like a dry desert needs a deluge of rain
relief so needed from my dry hells.

I need poetic words to tickle myself pink
glowing words, splashing in my head.
Come racing on, merge into my achin' ink
else this mind will blow out instead!

I need a charmer like my sexy, pretty muse
vixen that will stroke, O' my not that.
Just a glamorous words-lady my pen can use
to prove I am not "all cattle and no hat".

I need ink racing into castles with dreams
not useless rhymes carrying no weight.
Give me muses in vast and fast dancing teams
and not that lazy one I sometimes hate!

I need help, no sad sympathy for my plight
passionate ink-sounds hitting this page.
Give it soon, this fool got none this night
even if it is free verse, all the rage!

I need more paper, my trash can is now full
pencil broke after my hundredth plea.
Sucks feeling so like a saddened poetic tool
my poetry writing soul wants to see!

I need this poem to just shut up and end
a reality check into my deep pity.
Slap me once or twice, be a good friend
long is the night, dark is the city!

Lost And Never Found

Such sudden blackness, as if an overnight pall
Delivered by dark powers that dwell in hell.
An odorous smell, coming down a long, evil hall
fear and loathing and misery, I could tell.

Descended and engulf me into its spiritual fold
An invisible mist, sticky and rotting ripe!
Unspoken curses complete with the power to scold
Splashing blood rich colors in every stripe!

A futility born, no solace from deep desolation
Vaporous wisps, stinging on into my heart.
World now gone, alone in my cutting isolation
This is where my evil insanity had to start.

No rescue came, the darkness rapidly ate away.
No morn ever broke out, into the light of day!

Voluptuous Paintings And Nature's Brush

Nature has imbued my soul with searching airs
great fogs seeking clarity in deep thought.
Like a child so wanting to see circuses and fairs
time alone in Nature is preciously bought.

Wishing darkness of this sad world to disappear
traversing happily over bright wooded hills.
Seeking out wild animals just to be very near
all touches my heart bringing such thrills.

Autumn, its shedding magnificent colors brings
searching eyes a panorama of glowing hues.
So much truth in Nature, a reunion that sings
of bright rainbows, hope and hidden clues.

Feelings of dewy mornings and flowers at noon
sky cries out, Mother Nature look at me!
Hark! Such glory heard in songbirds that croon
Nature shouts, no charge men, it is free!

Trees bending to speak of beauty, life and soul
daring bright colors that cry, enchantment.
There mother deer nurses her speckled new foal
harmony, all existing in perfect placement.

Water racing along in rushing, bubbling streams
sunny blue sky reflections tagging alone.
Beauty so real, not images seen in false dreams
Hear! Thudding sound from falling pine cone.

Flowing meadows wrapped in soft, flowery mazes
all cluttered up with dancing honey bees.
Seasons inspiring hearts with different phases
as colorful leaves leap from painted trees.

Nature has imbued my soul with searching airs
great fogs seeking clarity in deep thought.
Like a child wanting to see circuses and fairs
time alone in Nature is preciously bought.

Terrible Heartache A Soul Wants No More

Why chase love, that is so filled with pain
best to deny the cloudy skies to pour,
in great fear of flooding torrential rain
terrible heartache a soul wants no more!

Why embrace love, when destiny cries NO
better in shadows than eating lies,
than endure romance that is a false show
forever broken, that bind that ties!

Why remember love, often a laughing joke
far better to embrace deep solitude,
become a much wiser old solitary bloke
peaceful in a comfortable attitude!

Why deny love, in solitary misery as a fool
embracing words that cry to no avail,
no call to reject life and be a losing tool
weeping quietly in your epic fail!

Why chase love, that is so filled with pain
best to deny the cloudy skies to pour,
in great fear of flooding torrential rain
terrible heartache a soul wants no more!

Crunching And Munching, Growling In Gnarly Tones

Great monsters gnawing their victims bloody bones
with sharp claws and yellow fanged teeth.
Crunching and munching, growling in gnarly tones
bodies consumed, no grave no funeral wreath.
Hairy beasts ever ready in dark and lonely places
some few able to fly about on scaly wings.
Taking evil delight in their victims frightened faces
and many other vile and red flowing things.
Beware least you wonder out on a dark evil night
as a bloody spot may be you last found site.
Best to stay in the illumination of brightest light
and follow sweeter tunes of all that is right.
So powerful no magic charm can stop their killing
evil and darkness comprise such wicked souls.
Take your chances if seeking dangers for feeling
in thrilling you may die reaching your goals!

Judging Her

Dare I, judge her as she has me
and with hate and malice wrapped.
Within a locked box with no key
embracing deep darkness tapped!

Nay, not even her love is free
she that shines sad light on me.
Finally my eyes opened to see
she tried to axe my love tree!

In my heart a place still rest
for princess once in distress.
Rescued and given my very best
now living at another address!

Life ahead, will it be a treat?
A saving balm for my love's defeat!

Bittersweet, Former Exultations

We met, in yesterdays, we long held dear
Once found our hearts leaped;
Great times, golden moments so clear,
sweet harvests were reaped.

An April day, blue sky sang out loud
Walking we, sang in tune;
Our love became deep and so proud,
Approaching the month of June.

Now look back, upon our sad separation
And we find, dreams can die;
Bittersweet, former exultations,
asking was our love a lie?

Upon our love's loss, angels did cry
Past life, in its sanitation;
Happy times, grew by leaps and bounds,
Was it all just imagination?

"We met(on) an April day (and) now look back,
upon our love's loss" .
Craters fill the grounds we played
Hearts torn and far away we toss
But what if, in love, we had stayed?

Note- Presented as was written.
Have no clue were I was taking it or
even if it was finished.Seems the poem is
the answer to the stanza written after
my name and date written. Just too long ago

Mercy So Elusive And Victory So Hard To Find

Words hide deep within my aching head
rising forth from this lazy bed.
To face the world with courage and wit
prod the demons in that darkest pit.

Task them to do their worst, do their best
slay them first while cursing all the rest.
No idle sleep to weaken my resolve
that's not how the very strong evolve.

The volley was fired so many weeks ago
returning fire livens the deadly show.
Take no prisoners was the commanding call
finish them off where they fall.

Words swirl deep within my fevered mind
mercy so elusive and hard to find.
Thoughts that burning stone bridges up
flee from this jagged depressing cup.

As that red sun sinks slowly in the West
another night brings its raging foes.
May courage and hope do its very best
where dark shadows and evil wind blows.

The Relentless Struggle

Man so desperately fighting his inner self
beaten senseless until nothing is left.
Such inward slashing leaves no visible scar
yet wounds as deep as are found in any war!

A struggle to defeat real and imaginary foes
miserably increasing already tragic woes.
A fight I find myself in on troubled nights
slashing and gashing the many bloody bites!

Struggle ever so bloody and bloody fierce
heart and soul are both very deeply pierced.
When the horrible battle is about to be won
time sends its vanquishing rays, morning sun!

Solace Found, A Great Gift

Found great solace in your kindness to me.
Your words, ripe fruits on a giving tree.
Found joyful spirit in your smile that day.
Beauty was too much, I had no words to say.

Found a friend to share my soul, my life.
Now you are my beautiful and lovely wife.
Found faith, heart and intensity of love.
Our joining, great blessing from God above.

Found a reason to be proud and stand tall.
You are my shelter and I your strong wall.
Found fate to finally be my good friend.
We together, until our united world ends.

From Hot Fire Into A Frying Pan

First day, the beauty walked in style
shaking curves, big glowing smile.
Second day, she gave out a new twist
walked over to me, gave a list.
Third day, my longing mind was aglow
she put on another sexy show.
Fourth day came, greater was her fame
she finally told me her name.
Fifth day, she gave me a sweet kiss.
O' my, she loved me like this.
Sixth day, we partied into her home
her prison not again did I roam.
Seventh day, I found out my sad fate
only by then it was too late!

Magic Road, Where Will It Lead

Magic road, I wonder where its curves lead
Seeping into the mists of future time?
Sacrifices that dares make the heart bleed
Love so deep some may call it a crime!
Are you my hard path to my darling so true?
Weeping willows at every turn must foretell
Greater chances to encounter danger and you
Shall I break into that hard outer shell?
Alas! This fork leads me into a darker state
Tall oaks wrap its castle shining from afar
Surrounding its walls, guards with eyes of hate
Warriors all, built with hair as black as tar!
Walking away, road sings take this next turn
There awaits sweet hope and miracles galore
And sad days dearly needed to make you learn
Tarry not long or there you stay forever more
Looking back I seem to have lost my own past
Seeker leaving cool days of soft Spring behind
Now worried that hope shall never live to last
I cry and weep for any help I may ever find!
Abrupt turn, there sets the sun gracing life
Gentle winds blow and here voices enter me
Promising this fine spot shall I find my wife
Her true love destined to heal and set me free!

Body Beautiful But Soul So Dead

You did drop a mountain on me
there was no pain greater.
Lying heart, a damn black sea
your wicked soul a hater.

Despair raced in your footsteps
agony painted your shoes.
Misery in that heart to depths
sending me into deep blues.

Those eyes, now pools of red
evil sets in your voice.
Body beautiful but soul so dead
I left, had no choice!

Now I wake to a shining glow
racing out to live life.
That rising sun again I know
sun's light kills strife.

Hate dropped a mountain on me
but now life is better.
I met a sweeter lady you see
love helped me get her!

Hell Came In When You Said Goodbye

I took pride in this heart of mine,
a plush evergreen tree in root.
A strawberry island on which to dine,
silver star on a cowboy's boot.

I took hell when this heart split,
separation rang out hollow.
When blood flowed in bit by bit,
needed recovery had to follow.

I took courage when life renewed,
my pride only then returned.
Life was then softer and subdued,
our flame no longer burned.

I took flight to find another sky,
one giving pretty rainbows out.
Hell came in when you said goodbye,
now leaves with a mighty shout!

I took pride in this heart of mine,
a plush evergreen tree in root.
A strawberry island on which to dine,
silver star on a cowboy's boot.

Return Of The Bright Red Sun
(Dark Days Left Behind)

The Red Sun had hidden away for some years
no blood red to inspire with glowing sheen.
Back again, those fiery red crocodile tears.
Love had died, she was only a lonely teen.

Dark days, she cried - please give me Light
her sobs fell upon deaf ears- apathy reigned.
With no heart, no purpose- no use to fight.
Bleeding heart, torn dress and life stained!

Hiding in a dark and badly painted room
shadows raced above her small trampled bed.
So nasty, a curse repeated about her doom
wishing death, she refused to ever be fed.

As sad dark curtains slowly dropped down
blasting forth a wave of Red Sun light.
Set aglow, the red rose adorning her gown
Her heart rose to follow this divine sight.

Her sweet soul, raced into the soft clouds
with a renewed happiness gracing its path.
No longer alone and blue in earthly crowds
left far behind was pain and abusive wrath.

She looked back and in merciful pity asked
forgiveness for her evil abusers be given.
That darkness in their hearts be unmasked
And they heaven blessed new lives be given.

Upon entering Heaven's wide opening gate
chorus of angels sang love in her praise.
Admiring her faithful refusal to ever hate
evil abusers she had been given to raise.

Given a new body, one whole and unbroken
she begged yet again, forgiveness for all.
In loving true faith such words were spoken
Merciful God smiled upon hearing her call!

I Write Of Ghosts On Papers Flat

I write of ghosts on papers flat
visions of battles in my head.
Large as is an elephant to a gnat
tis' poet's deep desire to be read!

Writing of courage, warriors hold
true loves that so many desire.
Great poet born must be very bold
to keep his own feet in the fire!

How about that decorated sword
with jewels gracing its hilt?
Poets write bleeding and gored
to solve heartache, relieve guilt!

Now my ink has soaked this page
words cast,I bid sweet adieu'
Lessons learned from wizened sage
we must write for readers too!

New Age Poetry For The Silly Masses

0' WOW! I can write like this too
emotions, deep emotions spilling
on my keys!
Hot butter oozing in my brain
Midnight the sun shows to effect
Bus ride today was brutal,
old tramp begged for a dollar,
I tossed in a quarter and smiled!
There was a dark stain on my shoe
O' LOOK! Heart cracks in tune.
And daisy cried ALL NIGHT.....

Words, words squiggles that be so crazy
My ramblings impress the fools.
My night is boring and I am word lazy.

Signed, rambling heart on my sleaze.

The Monster Returns To Feed

Light filtered in through grey shadows deep
lonely rests heavy in this dank room.
Far away, dark calls me from soddened sleep
I feel strange echoes of dark gloom.

What promise does this new day dare to bring
perhaps more of the yesterday's ache.
I feel that tug, of my nose by the sad ring
yet so many live lives that are fake!

What succubus has bled my spirit's joy away
perhaps that shadow that haunts me.
I that swore- no power over me can hold sway
now live in this eternally dark sea!

So hellish are nights this wickedness appears
as blackened timbers shake the walls.
No escaping, it thrives heartedly on my fears
as it moans out those evil siren calls!

I feel that sucking noise as blood is bled
a slight sting and then the pain.
She floats over me leeching from my head
as this feasting drives me insane!

A mocking laugh as she promises to return
to drink blood and give more hurts.
Knowing my addiction will not let me spurn
her sexy, hot naked body as she flirts!

Light filtered in through grey shadows deep
lonely rests heavy in this dank room.
Far away, dark calls me from soddened sleep
I feel strange echoes of dark gloom.

A Dream Summons, The Ancients Call

Take up thy spear at sunrise
And climb the riven crags,
Where none have been before thee
But mist and mountain stag;
And sing the song of parting
From lute and heaving breast,
For moons of blood shall gleam and wane
Ere thou shalt reach they rest.
Sing to the soaring breezes,
The seaward racing streams,
That when the battle-storm is lulled
They bless thee in thy dreams.
The mountain-gods shall hear thee,
The gods of frost and fire,
And pierce thy heart with gladness
As pure as thy desire!

I Grow The Best Seeds Given In My Dreams

I grow the best seeds given in my dreams,
I hold the flavor of that feat;
Although a freeze may hit my streams,
I shall not admit brutal defeat ...
Yet life can and will serve all the more
Against dark blades stabbing in the night,
With my crop growing on a foreign shore
Hope prays to end this desperate fight.

Watering my crop with needed warm tears,
My hands never sit vacant and idly by,
True sense of purpose allays my deep fears
Even if saddened, my life can still fly.
Onward! My passage is deliberate and slow,
I defiant, planted with stoic, firm feet;
Face this world, with my heart in tow,
Harvest my crop for my wanting soul to eat.

I will never allow brutal defeat of my heart,
A thought repugnant to my wishful mind;
Each day's dawn gives another chance to restart,
Live the dreams of that sweeter paradise kind.

How Poetry Began

Gentle spirit came to visit noble man
sent poetic verse throughout the land
Declared she, I am the original Muse
your heart , soul and mind seek to use

Write and sing, love so deeply with me
we together shall plant a poetry tree
As our hearts join to this world sail
love and hope shall forever prevail

The Universe I have long ago tread
every galaxy my words have been read
You , mankind are the last I will meet
the poetic ground now underneath my feet

Open your hearts and see with new eyes
this new way will defeat all the lies
Beam of true light shall open your mind
you will be the first in all poetic kind

With this visit the original Muse departed
poetry spread in each heart it was started
Now we seek ever to find this greatest Muse
to prove how brilliantly she did choose!

Was she not known for, kindness and grace
Loving deep and a sad fate:
Should we fail to bless her in our remorse

In the whole world,
There is nothing more beautiful
Than the clear snow blossoms
Loosened by the wind,
Falling through the golden sunlight
Translucent
Misty-margined veils,-
Or borne on the breeze
Like the breath of invisible hunters
Roaming the woodlands
With spears of the mountain frost
Vanquishing anew the airy scene.

Ferns Wreathed Her Rebel Hair

A maiden joyous as the wind I saw;
Ferns wreathed her rebel hair;
She blew upon a clustered thistle-crown,
And swift there swam away, on that bright air,
The lives of men, their learning, love and law
In shreds dancing down.

A maiden dancing in the wind I saw;
Enchanting princess without her golden crown.

Red Sunsets On The Blue Hills

What of red sunsets on the blue hills
true love found in the light.
Just as night fright give cold chills
crimson views show heaven's might.

Such wondrous blaze stirs a dream
fire cast from Valhalla's skies.
Reminding of dying warrior's gleam
truth in death, no twisted lies.

As those red sunbeams grace earth
true courage gifts its hope.

Note: On sonnets, I hold that the message far outranks the
far too restrictive form of set meter. Thus I refuse to write in such.
I did adhere to the requirement of ten syllables per verse.

http://www.writing-world.com/poetry/schimel1.shtml
Of course, these "rules" for writing a sonnet are meant to be broken.
And even when adhering to the rules, there will be variation; lines
need not be perfectly iambic, so long as the predominant pattern is
consistent enough to be recognized as such. Many modern sonnets no
longer rhyme, or have variant rhyme schemes, but are still identifiably
a sonnet because it adheres to enough of the rules.

(1.) Valhalla---In Norse mythology, Valhalla
(from Old NorseValhöll "hall of the slain"[1])
is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard,
ruled over bythe god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those
who die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death,
led by valkyries, while the other half go to the
goddess Freyja's field Fólkvangr. In Valhalla,
the dead join the masses of those who have died
in combat known as Einherjar, as well as various
legendary Germanic heroes and kings, as they prepare
to aid Odin during the events of Ragnarök. Before
the hall stands the golden tree Glasir, and the
hall's ceiling is thatched with golden shields.
Various creatures live around Valhalla, such as
the stag Eikþyrnir and the goat Heiðrún, both
described as standing atop Valhalla and consuming
the foliage of the tree Læraðr.
Valhalla is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled
in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources,
the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri
Sturluson, Heimskringla, also written in the 13th century
by Snorri Sturluson, and in stanzas of an anonymous
10th century poem commemorating the death of Eric Bloodaxe
known as Eiríksmál as compiled in Fagrskinna. Valhalla
has inspired various works of art, publication titles,
popular culture references, and has become a term
synonymous with a martial (or otherwise) hall of the chosen
dead.

Dreams of Battle of Thymbra, Lydian–Persian War

In the midst of a battle I awoke thrown
walking over the crimson red dead.
Found and drew the shaft from solid stone
standing on soil blood soaked in red!

My heart afraid but never was it alone
in cold silence stood there dreaming.
My physical body was then so long gone
among the dead, dying and screaming!

Behind lay vultures squawking in feeding
ripping meat from living white bones.
Eating fallen men still alive and bleeding
yelps of pain and muffled crying moans!

Fog of war demanded the fight be engaged
crossing a river of deep flowing red.
With my sword slashing my spirit enraged
no time for sorrow for the new dead!

With each parry my time was just to borrow
a few more cuts just to stay alive.
Hell with pity, I had no time for sorrow
my soul wanted to live and thrive!

Battle won my heart sang out still beating
giving great thanks for still walking.
Glanced back at vultures ravenously eating
death upon the dead, no more talking!

Dawn's light, my sleeping battles long over
still I remembered the red soaked soil.
How soon the fallen to be covered in clover
with no more love, life or work to toil!

Robert J. Lindley, 10-20-2015

Note- Battle of Thymbra Lydian–Persian War Approximately 100,000[1]
The Battle of Thymbra was the decisive battle in the war between Croesus of the
Lydian Kingdom and Cyrus the Great of the Achaemenid Empire. Cyrus, having pursued
Croesus into Lydia following the drawn Battle of Pteria, met the remains of Croesus'
partly disbanded army in battle on the plain north of Sardis on December, 547 BC.
Even though Croesus' army was reinforced with many new men, Cyrus utterly defeated
it, despite being outnumbered more or less 2:1. This proved decisive, and after the
14 day Siege of Sardis,
the city and possibly its king fell, and Lydia was conquered by the Persians.

Cyrus's plan was to catch the Lydian king unprepared for battle, but at
Thymbra Croesus had more than twice as many men as Cyrus. The Lydians marched out
to meet Cyrus and quickly armed all the reserves there, before their allies were to
arrive, which they never did. According to Xenophon, Cyrus had 196,000 men in total,
[1][page needed] [2] which was composed of 31,000 to ~70,000 Persians. This consisted
of 20,000 infantry which may have included archers and slingers, 10,000 elite
infantry/ cavalry, which may have been the Persian Immortals, plus 20,000 peltasts
and 20,000 pikemen. All except the archers and slingers are known to have carried
small to large shields. The others were: 42,000 Arabians; Armenians; and Medians,
which amounted to 126,000 infantry. There were also 300 camel cavalry, 300 chariots,
and 5-6 siege towers, which were known to hold 20 men each. It all amounted to
1,000+ men, partly because there was one citizen, and one soldier on each chariot.
Xenophon tells us that Croesus had an army of 420,000 men,[3][page needed] which was
composed of 60,000 Babylonians, Lydians, and Phrygians, also Cappadocians, plus
nations of the Hellespont. This amounted to 300,000 men which included 60,000 cavalry.
There were also 120,000 Egyptians, plus 300 chariots, which may have been at least
500 men. The numbers of the battle given by Xenophon, even if untrue, are considered
within the realm of possibility, but less than half may have engaged in the actual
battle.

Into A Dark Raging Storm, Tempest And Hail

Into a dark raging storm, tempest and hail
alas, sadly all was to be to no avail.
Twelve pounders broke loose crashing about
some over the wind praying in a shout.

Prisoners chained below all in great fear
great many had shed a tortured tear.
Captured when their frigate this enemy sank
praying for their life and safe bank.

Thunder rolled and invisible hammers pound
every loud creak an ominous sound.
That morn crew had blessed the arrowy sun
and good lord for all he had done.

Now hit by waves capable of breaking stone
each man felt terror and all alone.
Moment came when ship was tossed up high
and each one saw his life pass by.

Next splashing water and cursing the sea
survivors and no ship could they see.
Down it had went with prisoners in chains
sea graveyard dead,no longer in pain.

Found one life boat still there and afloat
six sailors climbed aboard the boat.
Storm had calmed enough for them to see
they may yet hold kids on their knee.

No longer daring to swear and deeply curse
thanks gave having survived the worse.
No time to mourn the stormy sea taken dead
each prayed to a merciful God instead!

Note-
(1.) "frigate"-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frigate
Wikipedia
A frigate /'fr?g?t/ is any of several types of warship, the term having been used for ships of various sizes and roles over the last few centuries. In the 17th century, this term was used for any warship built for speed and maneuverability, the description often used being "frigate-built"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve-pound_cannon

(2. )"Twelve pounder" :
The twelve-pound cannon is a cannon that fires twelve-pound projectiles
from its barrel, as well as grapeshot, chainshot, shrapnel, and later
shells and canister shot.[1] It was first used during the Tudor
period[2] and was commonly used during the Napoleonic Wars, 1799-1815.
At this time 12 lbers were largest caliber of long-barreled field
pieces, and were used both at long range against fortifications and
troop concentrations using round shot and against attacking infantry
and cavalry using canister shot. As such the 12 lber was a favorite
weapon of the Grande Armée. Later, redesigned 12 lbs were named after
Napoleon III and found heavy use during the American Civil War.
12-pounders were also carried on naval vessels of various sizes.
Unlike their land based cousins, such weapons were considered light
by naval standards. They formed the main armament of smaller frigates,
and were used on the upper decks of larger vessels, where their
relatively lighter weight would not be a problem. They were commonly
found on the quarterdeck of British Ships of the line like HMS Victory
though their main weapons were the larger 24 and 32 pound cannon,
capable of shattering the hulls of enemy warships and killing the gun
crews with a deadly shower of splinters.[3]

Trees Skyward All In Pride Astreamin'

Nature holds the key..... "go deo"
Forested scenes ....... so sweet they may be
Trees skyward all in pride astreamin'
Great blue clouds areachin'
Roots in earth ... borrowing and adreamin'
World looks on in darkness as it is scheming
..... Dastardly over-reaching, greed apreachin'
Destruction in the raping of Nature's hoard
Mankind in his eternal blight and folly
............. Never in the morrow
Thinking of the great sorrow,
Loss of Nature's magnificence in our dreaming
Remains sad and lost in man's epic scheming!

Tribute poem to my good friend and great poet, Arthur Vaso. I could think of no better way to pay tribute
to my friend Arthur than my writing a poem using this form and citing the fantastic poem he composed
when presenting it!

This form is from - Best Arthur Vaso Poems,
titled Mega Death.

Form: Infinite Dot Thirteen Verse

Is a rare form of poetry, where by the poem is made
up of thirteen lines and within the poem has
interspersed dots for emphasis on the spoken word.
However the total number of dots must add up to 33,
and the additions to arrive at this number must
have significance. Examples would be 16/17 or
10/10/13 or mystical such as 12/12/9 and you can
subdivide the 12 say as 7/5 to equal 12. In this
example I Used the combination 6/3//7/5/12

Below: Arthur's excellent poem that inspired this tribute.

Mega Death

All my friends have..... gone
Underground ....... they rest at my bare feet
Leaves blowing sequestered on this barren earth
Grey skies melodies of wistful sad notes
Lovers too... have died on me
.....underground they lie
The heart is a terrible cavern of loss
Alone, I amble to and fro
Knowing full well
I too have died
Infinite is
Death
My judgment soon to arrive ............underground

The Soul Of Man Invincible

I have longed for the sea, for wandering by those islands
Where ever blue sunlight gleams;
I have longed for a mountain home, for sleep and silence
And star-winds through my dreams;
But deep in other tumult than thunder of rolling tides,
Far below those uplands where holy rest abides,
He has shown me the way of victory, the pilgrim road that leads
Through murmuring crowds, through cities throb,
Through human thoughts and deeds,
Through smoke and dust and agony to red and sodden ways
Where the reapers of living harvest toil on these dauntless days,
With the sea of sorrow about them, and death-winds moaning past
The soul of man invincible, triumphant to the last.

In Farewell

For thee
I build no sepulcher; thy memory,
The intimations of thy soul's ascension
Shall freedom have to roam a wider world
Than hearts have dreamed of.
They who think thee dead
But use a foolish word that is no more
Than blown leaf of winter. To be dead.
Is but a thoughtless thought, the word of them
That follow not glory that is gone,
But linger with the stones one gaily trod,
The embers of the chilly hearth one tended
Whom radiance foldeth now.

That starry tomb
Hath many windows, into timeless hours
And seasons of imperishable harvest;
Thy wandering is music, and thy rest
Even as the woodland stillness.

Ye Great Goddesses And Water Nymphs Of Old

Tis not of your sweet beauty I do now write
ye great goddesses and water nymphs of old.
Rather your images in poetic, fanciful flight
of chaste virtue and your beauty I am sold.

Poets have graced thee in power of flight
be it in the air or in clear water ye flee.
By grace of day you hold off chill of night
Mystical flying images bring poetry from me.

Wherein bluest ocean waves my mind embrace
there rests tales and odes written to you.
I plead ignorance of all virtues of grace
Yet in humble poetic verse give ye your due.

Your fame now rests in hearts oceans deep
with joy found in your tales poetically told.
Dream of your all, mind now restful in sleep
And long for your touch,be it ever so bold.

Sweet nymphs, may your grace forever shine
these mortal hearts long to again to see.
Your water dancing in morn's light so fine
as we desire just a gentle touch from thee.

Tis not of your sweet beauty I do now write
ye great goddesses and water nymphs of old.
Rather your images in poetic, fanciful flight
of chaste virtue and your beauty I am sold.

The Unknown Beloved

One there is who speaketh to me
Whose language I may not know,
And yet the sweet words of her gravity
Haunt me wherever I go;
And the wounding words she uttereth, in tears
Of infinite pity and grace,
Are unto me companions through the years
I may not see her face.
She is the wandering spirit that eludes
My waking sense,
The joy, the mystery, the soul that broods
In all that passeth hence;
Near as my heart is she, deep in the night
As unto her I yearn,
Yet further than the furthest worlds of light
That in lost regions burn.

Take This Stinking Keyboard And Shove It
(Tribute to Johnny Paycheck)

Take this stinking keyboard and shove it
I ain't awritin' here damn no more.
Gone is my inspiration, O' how I loved it
damn it flew out the back door!

My muse, she done left me in a hard pinch
with another unfinished score.
Wicked her anger and she don't give an inch
no matter how hard I implore.

Last night her fleeing with my heartaches
she dared called me "poetic bore".
I write and rewrite, no matter how many takes
my poems still hit the damn floor!

So take this damn old pen and just shove it
I ain't penning here no more.
Gone is the ardor, O' how I dearly loved it
down so very deep in my core.

My muse, she done ran away all ascreamin'
raced away to a foreign shore.
This is a damn nightmare, I ain't adreamin'
never been this damn bad before!

Take this stinking keyboard and shove it
I ain't awritin' here no damn more.
Gone is my inspiration, O' how I loved it
damn it flew out the back door!

to the musical genius , singer/songwriter David Allan Coe ..

(1.)- Johnny Paycheck
Donald Eugene Lytle (May 31, 1938 – February 19, 2003),
better known by his stage name Johnny Paycheck,[1] was
an American country music singer, multi-instrumentalist
and Grand Ole Opry member most famous for recording the
David Allan Coe song "Take This Job and Shove It". He
achieved his greatest success in the 1970s as a major
force in country music's "Outlaw Movement" popularized
by artists such as David Allan Coe, Waylon Jennings,
Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, and Merle Haggard.
In the 1980s, his music career slowed for drug, alcohol
and legal problems. He served a prison sentence in the
early 1990s and his declining health effectively ended
his career in early 2000.

My Dance With The Devil

I dreamed of darkness in a room round
there were in it boxes dark black.
Opening each nothing in it was found
except a worn and torn empty sack.

After the heavy lids I then closed
strange figure sat in the corner.
And there it smiled big as it posed
hat removed, it was a two horner!

Now give the devil his credit and due
for in his hand a snake appeared.
Why on earth it laughed I had no clue
I was shaken and much a'feared!

As it crawled over to my shaking feet
devil rose to dance a jolly jig.
Music played to a dark, horrific beat
and my wide eyes got saucer big.

In fear, I stomped the snake into mush
devil only laughed hard at me.
With a wicked grin and whispered hush
told me what the cost would be.

Say I was shocked, hell I was floored
his price was a dance with me.
A fine, lively jig because he was bored
only then did clawed feet I see!

Music played another lively little beat
my arm he grabbed and we danced.
While my eyes never left his clawed feet
in his delight, my how he pranced!

Finished he took himself a mighty big bow
into sacks in the boxes he leaped.
Now my mind wondered what and the how
was devil's torment next be reaped!

The boxes vanished leaving sacks of gold
there was gold coins in each sack.
Now I believe every devil story I am told
and pray -
Like hell, my dancing partner comes back!

After The Golden Sunset Gleam

Here beneath the stars,
Far from the whispering eaves,
Tell me thy tidings.
Be they dark as northern light
I will not fail or falter.

I have built for thee
A dwelling of green pine boughs,
O silent guest.
A light to guide thy coming
Have I set : here to take my rest.

After the golden sunset, gleam
Cool silvery tones of waning light;
The Winter-lonely fallows dream
Into the ghostliness of night.

Far off, yet looming strangely near,
With starry heaven aureoled,
Dark mountain ranges westward rear
Their guardian towers as of old.

Miracula

So far away the secrets lie
Within ourselves, so deep they go
In catacombs of memory,
Ten thousand years below.

And life is an hour's sun
Upon a lonely island peak
Whose mighty base leviathan
Scarce roundeth in a week.

Yet every tiny flower and shell,
And every flash of human thought,
Are worlds as wide as heaven and hell,
As wonderfully wrought.

Aye, No Glory

Aye, its there my tale. A tale I once knew well
A tale with life devoid of glory. Aye, no glory
Those deep secrets I never tell, what a story-
Hell, once I knew it all, even the dank smell.

Tale told once too often. The shades all stayed
Only the stinkin' rhythm, it never held glory-
And those dark secrets I never tell. Aye no glory
Yet mysteries emerged, so dark. Well played.

Aye, a tale to hold. Aye, with no glory. A cry
And steps into a dark hour. Blood, no glory-
If my she, if she knew the whole black story
The why of its darkness, and never, never why!

Aye, wherein lies my tale. A tale I told well
Missteps in dangerous times. Aye, no glory
Buried now, the ravages of time and- no story
Aye, feel it all. Flames. No glory in Hell!

Aye, its there my tale. A tale I once knew well
A tale with life devoid of glory. Aye, no glory
Those deep secrets I never tell, what a story-
Hell, once I knew it all, even the dank smell.

Native American Prayer, In A Poet's Dozen Recantation
-------------------------------------------------------------------by Robert Lindley

fallen fruit exists
earthen harvest and ground meet
jars in the pantry

Earth does wrap its big heart in heavenly beauty of Nature
Sadly mankind conquers, divides and deals in nomenclature!

Shall we ever discover our natural spirit destroys
We masters of nothing, earth is not one of our simple toys!

Bountiful earth, sate my hunger for your fruits
You- that my brothers enslave, pillage and rape
I pray we return more to our natural roots
And the coming desecrating, final destruction escape
In a new dawn's unification man with Nature agape!

Old Shoe Box And Broken Candle

My great boldness keeps hammering on down
like blacksmith's hits on anvil it rings.
So loudly, it barks echoes around this town
forwarding slashes giving wicked stings.

My great arrogance so often I can not abide
proudly riding patiently with me daily.
In that awful smugness even I can not hide
covering with soft words spoken gaily.

Silly boldness, are not others far more bold
cried out this man thinking so wise.
Are not others greater in knowledge of old
tis' true cried out this man so wise.

What pray I, do I have so very special now
that truth has found its clear start.
Only my great willingness to find out how
trade old shoe box, broken candle for a heart!

The Storm And The First Pains

After the storm, finding Nature again sound
in grief, trees bent and ravaged spoke.
In looking for more blessed gifts around
angered at Nature's life this storm broke.

Sadly, what man had not dared to cut down
elms, willows and mighty black oaks
Were now savaged like discarded night gown
and cracked wheel with broken spokes.

Yet in that storm's aftermath Nature lives
new growth must have a place to start.
Fallen trees, newly opened places gives
low shrubs sunlight to again restart.

First gazing wreckage, such is hard to see
looks like turtle with shell crack.
Life's realities say that nothing is free
storm-blast proves that is on track.

Across meadows less destructive scenes
flowers broken but only a weak few.
Worst places hard hit, blown to smithereens
Yet Natures always comes through.

Fire may burn this wreck on the ground
If so then Nature will have found.
Precious ash bringing new life around
And thus prove Nature's ways sound.

After the storm, finding Nature again sound
in grief, trees bent and ravaged spoke.
In looking for more blessed gifts around
angered at Nature's life this storm broke.

Angel Resting There

There you lay, angel resting quietly,
Should you heart flutter,
And seek out a handsome lover nightly
Such is as sweet bread with butter
As you breathe to hold this- our world
Softly morning dew falls,
Upon sea waves mighty storms are hurled
As morning doves coo their calls;
And fate travels with each rising sun,
Where rose petals decorate your hair
Call my name, I will come on the run
In doing- in doing, risk my all to be there.

A God Unto One

Alas! Very much weaker force was I then
myself, a lesser god unto one
I that needed not a solitary friend
soon found life not much fun
With my brutal command over the lesser me
I ravaged across scarred ground
Each morn found much more to reject to see
stacking stones by the pound
Oceans from pant of blank-eyed stares
reeking of stale intensity
Night's darkness only lit by dim flairs
and misery bound in its immensity
Pallor of my realm, a gutter in disarray
bundles of deep thoughts torn
Yet found within my folly was abject dismay
at creature of my mind thus born
Leaping and dancing on old narrow strings
I fell into a blazing silent sun
Woke upon hearing my spirit as it sings
in this new realm, my life undone

Fate thus appeased by this new measure
love found me walking so proud
For life had suddenly found its treasure
and bright sky its newest cloud

With imitations that extol
To during glory transient things,
And this is why the poet sings.

The Dark Mist Invades

And that mist wrapped the highest hill
Where soft grass feed the deer
Tis' Spring morn, still has is waking chill
Where cool breeze strays clear.

A gentle stream slowing trickles on down
Where its many curves wind about
Far away, rests people in a sleepy town
Where often danger flies on out.

And deep within the mighty oak grove below
Where critters dance and play
Nature's way so often takes its heavy toll
Where life or death exist each day.

What of the beauty of grass shining dew
Where often a black bear trods
And man's stupidity, now there are so few
Where death within sleep nods.

What of the coming stains of bitter pills
Where Nature's beauty cast aside
All sacrificed for so many foolish thrills
Where vainly his soul can hide.

Dark mist invades his bloodied putrid heart
Where ignorance eats and invades
This the evil embraces in its ravaging start
Where dishonor dances in parades.

And that mist wrapped the highest hill
Where soft grass feed the deer
Tis' Spring morn, still has is waking chill
Where cool breeze strays clear.

And The Sea Split

Stillness- long dark, a mark on every door
Night last moan a cry for the day.
Lamentations scream- curses by the score
Dark angel had its vengeful way.

Evil rests in place, sadness graces each face
arrogant hearts oppressed and ruled.
None could dare love enough for saving grace
even their dark host was fooled.

Pharoah's hot blood flowed, chilled to the bone
slaves , beasts and toys used.
Where spirit and soft flesh set to shatter stone
mere ants were beat and abused.

Dark host was very soon to met the split sea
chasing ants that raced away
Soon crushed with no safe place to flee
his hatred reaped its just pay.

The Annoying Night Journeys
( Beer Piss Breaks)

Back to bed after a nightly take
strange silence of coming morn
This dream nobody could ever fake
illusive mystery so soon born

Sun is racing , about to rise
still that feeling exists
Window shows light breaking skies
soon darkness dance in mists

Alas! Nature yet again its calls
flood waters simply must go!
Splatters all about as it falls
but merely wets my big toe!

The Unseen Within
(Our Midnight)

Silent unto our sense, yet musical
With eternal harmony, they move
About our darkened vision, the beautiful ones,
Angels of destiny.

Pale with the dawn, sun-golden with the noontide,
They mingle with our moments;
There is no sadness that they do not share,
No night they are not near.

Even as flowers that scent the roving winds
With fragrant incantations, - flowers unseen,
That loose the largess of their beauteous dreams,
Even so are they.

Bequeathing endlessly for our delight
The gifts we spurn, the secret revelations
Would make us in our needless misery
True kindred of the Soul,-

Inheritors of them that passed our way
Love-radiant, unbaffled, sorrow-wise,
The conquerors of old, whose victory
Transcendeth time.

Amid the shadows of remorse they move,
Singing their quiet song,
The beautiful angels of all loveliness
We might have been.

Sad Tears, Poor Fare For The Cost

I fear words that refuse to come
distant echoes in my ears.
Blackened vibrations, a low hum
chilled icing on my fears!

Deep into- Ancient pain not lost
widows wailing out tears.
Great victories- At what cost
and the end draws too near.

Mourning veils- hide the hurts
for mighty king's pride.
Battle cuts, blood in spurts
warrior's destructive ride.

I fear words that refuse to come
Deep into- Ancient pain not lost
Mourning veils- hide the hurts
Sad tears, poor fare for the cost!

Arisen - Great Glory With Each New Dawn

When tragedy crushes day and dark night,
remnants of evil darkness thunders forth.
Then man's evil proceeds with all its might
as coldest wind blasting from the far North.

Hence my crying to - hold loving ship straight
and beseeching the One for mercy then.
Yet for such- one must abandon their hate,
learn to honor and love all other men.

With such faith- stormy waters are banished
invisible voice calming raging seas.
The evil and darkness both are vanquished
answered are sincere, faithfully prayed pleas.

Arisen - great glory with each new dawn.
Beautiful flowers on each renewed lawn.

The Deep Vow

You, the angel resting in my grasp
seeker of a warm heart.
As sublime as baby's first gasp
in its precious life's start.
Fear not beloved, fate will be kind
for it showed me your door.
No greater love shall I ever find
than that we both now explore.
Hold firm, thy sweet heart is secure
for I wrap it deep within mine.
United in our love- life is pure
sweet grapes growing on our vine.

A Soul Complete

I am now old and dying more each short day,
There is love of life, so little time to stay.
Should not past treasures ease my anguished wait,
Or the plenitude of love filled blessings on my plate.
Life has been a wild horse so swiftly rode,
Wherein obeying human lust was the reigning mode.
Too late, man desperately seeks another way,
And too often Fate and old Age say- Time to pay!

I am now so old, no bouncing on bare feet,
There is so much to hold and still much to eat.
Dare I, deeply anguish over my too soon coming Fate,
Or sit back with knowledge its never too late,
To rebirth yet again, my long lost inspirational hope,
And write anew the love letter in romance's envelope!

Nay! Fear, you shall not my mind and Soul now defeat!
For even in life's sad end we are a Soul complete!

Seeking Nature's Serenity
(An Irish Sonnet)

Over the lush meadows graceful birds fly
Songs echoing on back from forested trees
Bright colors flashing from the bluest sky
Like flying fish skimming the dancing seas
Flowers gift fragrance to the busy bees
Each petal shining out enticing glow
Magnificent beauty taken with ease
Smiling skies looking far down below
Just look, Nature tells all we need to know
Inside our hearts rest this dearest sweet hope
Beauty graces everything- Nature's show
Such rare sights as a racing antelope

Seek Nature's serenity just to cope
Living under this solar telescope

Idea came from Peter Duggan's - Irish sonnet titled- Sweet Nature

Obviously influenced by the English sonnet there is also still a Celtic
influence in making a link from stanza to stanza.. It still follows the three quaterns
and a couplet pattern, but each stanza is linked to the next giving a rhyme pattern of;
a. b. a. b. . b. c. b. c. . c. d. c. d. .d.d.

Deep Roses That Wrapped Our Love, Tis' Not Forgot

Forgotten, the days of thunder that we once knew,
Long ago, red roses bloomed in our gardened spot,
And everything beautiful reminded me of you;
Deep roses that wrapped our love, tis' not forgot,
Nor the soft gracing winds that on our lives blew;
When morning and night's glory were our sweet lot.

Yet even in that paradise Fate held deeply bound,
A poison weed in our fine garden did grow,
Awaiting its sad day by you to be found;
Alas! How could its bitterness and hate you ever know,
When in its music was held such a beautiful sound;
And false pride discreetly hid in its every show.

Remembered, despite bitterness that destroyed our all,
The soothing sound of your voice singing,
Praises for the many blessings decorating our hall;
Forever that melody remains with its honeyed ringing,
Softly with love trembling within each song's call;
As if somehow you knew destruction it was bringing.

Forgotten, the days of thunder that we once knew,
Long ago, red roses bloomed in our gardened spot,
And everything beautiful reminded me of you;
Deep roses that wrapped our love, tis' not forgot!

Send Not Great Warriors To My Lasting Feast

I fear not the cracks in these ancient walls
for all the better to sharpen my claws,
and unleash that grimace eating my soul
that painful relish, making me whole;
Send not great warriors to my lasting feast,
as night-winds engulf the wicked East
Death sings itself into another long dance
and all bloodied I wake from another trance!

Aye! I fear not that familiar putrid smell
washing up from wide opened gates of Hell
within this blackened and ungodly evil place,
seething mist stinging bitterly my wicked face;
And the she-beast roaring its power to remain
for its mother was the beast that did reign
In our castle and its hidden torture stalls
heeding every whim of the monster nightly calls!

Nay, tis' not fear that drives my need for Hell
but pride of power and birth, my need to tell,
for I the coming dark lord will soon replace,
she that grows old and weak, now a disgrace;
Time tells me to kill with my first great roar
that monster which shall be my greatest score
Such cracks serve to give me a much sharper edge
she dies tonight, thrown over the abyss's ledge!

Send not great warriors to my lasting feast,
as night-winds engulf the wicked East
Death sings itself into another long dance
and all bloodied I wake from another trance!

The Eternal Promise

O' soft and promising gifts of delight,
pour upon my weary and tired soul
Wrap this clear moon in rapture tonight
set me onto another lofty goal;
Send again that cool flowing breeze,
where the shallows stir so very soft
There I may rest at my sweet ease,
and let my spirit fly aloft.

Thus may my spirit find its calling,
walking steady toward its new home
Even should I find myself falling
I shall pray all the more as I roam;
Send me again that refreshing wind,
that graces the eternal gusts of love
There may I find my promised end,
And dwell in that heaven far above.

O' soft and promising gifts of delight,
pour upon my weary and tired soul
Wrap this clear moon in rapture tonight
set me onto another lofty goal.
Send again that cool flowing breeze,
where the shallows stir so very soft
There I may rest at my sweet ease,
and let my spirit fly aloft.

yet again onto the path after the falling.
For we all fall, many times. Yet steady back
onto the correct path we may reach our goal.

Gagon, And That Fateful Day

In ancient days- he walked with Titans of old
Sent back from Valhalla's majestic Halls.
Strong in brave heart, his spirit so bold
Awaiting his glorious destiny and heroic calls.

Gagon, dragon-slayer of heroic deed and fame
Tales written in stone of his battles glories.
Now forgotten, all but his heroic name
Yet seers remain to speak proudly his stories.

In that dark realm- where good had been slain
He walked the land slaying every foul beast.
Darkness soon found his battles a great pain
Summoned the Destroyer from the wicked East.

On a bright summer day, in the valley of Po
Gagon chose a rocky hill to make his stand.
From castle above, eagerly watching his show
Prisoners of the darkness in that sad land.

Boldly racing on, Destroyer called out his name
With the weapons famous for that greatest feat.
A challenge to death battle, to end this game
Promising Gagon's defeated soul he would eat.

And as other mighty men of great renown
in infinite wisdom had they chosen so well.
Gagon had chosen the best, the higher ground
To send the mighty Destroyer back to hell.

In a great mighty clash they fought head on
At first, neither could do any serious harm.
Yet in a flash Destroyer was cut to the bone
And lost any use of its legendary right arm.

Fate in its wisdom dealt a very great blow
one Gagon knew would give victory very soon.
Destroyer's great weakness was soon to show
Gagon inspired, capitalized on that great boon.

With a flash his blade, severed the other arm
And Destroyer screamed out in wicked pain.
Gone was its protection and evil granted charm
Soon to be , blotted from earth this dark stain.

As Gagon cut off its hideous three horned head
Angels fell down quickly from Heaven above.
Singing, "Praise Gagon - the beast is now dead"
And this land shall again see God's great love!

Gagon's Greatest Battle, A Victory Gained
(Epic) (Narrative)

In ancient days- he walked with Titans of old
Sent back from Valhalla's aged majestic Halls.
Strong in his brave heart, his spirit so very bold
Waiting glorious destiny's heroic calls.

Gagon, beast-slayer of heroic deed and fame
Tales written in stone of his battles glories.
Now long forgotten, all but his heroic name
Yet seers remain to speak proudly of his stories.

Within darkest realm- where goodness had to be slain
He walked outer land slaying every foul beast.
Darkness soon found his battles searing in great pain
Summoned the Destroyer from the wicked Far East.

On a bright summer day, in the valley of Po
Gagon chose a rocky hill to make his last stand.
From castle above, eagerly watching his show
Prisoners of bitter darkness in that sad land.

In a great mighty clash fiercely they fought head on
At first, neither could do any serious harm.
Yet in a flash Destroyer was cut to the bone
And lost the use of its legendary right arm.

Fate's infinite wisdom dealt a very great blow
one Gagon knew would give victory very soon.
Destroyer's greatest weakness was so soon to show
Gagon inspired, capitalized on that great boon.

With swiftest flash his blade, severed the other arm
And mighty Destroyer screamed out in wicked pain.
Removed was its protection and its evil charm
Soon to be , blotted from earth this darkest of stain.

As Gagon cut off its hideous three horned head
Angels fell down quickly from Heaven far above.
Singing, "Praise Gagon - the wicked beast is now dead"
Yet again this land shall again see Odin's great love!

In ancient days- he walked with Titans of old
Sent back from Valhalla's aged majestic Halls.
Strong in his brave heart, his spirit so very bold
Waiting glorious destiny's heroic calls.

Love Recast, Forever Vanishes

With you gone, the orange sun sets just to die
don't ask me silly questions why
Is it not enough that I bled for your touch?
never asking for joy too much!
That I once sat silently watching you sleeping
each and every heartbeat reassuring me that you live!
Your love secrets I gathered into my safe keeping,
giving you all I ever had to give!

With you gone the earth sits barren and crying,
a cry so very dark and shrill
Dark clouds descend- Announcing our love dying,
as fate hurries to hand me the bill
Surely you know I'll never dare to pay,
for sadness, heartache and misery so very deep
You sent- nothing left to say,
then walked away knowing my spirit would weep!

A new day has now arrived to gently recast
to another, the love you promised to forever last.

QUOTE ME RUMI
(A Little Poem)
A little poem a dark soul brought forth
One hour of loneliness and misery;
Yet round it swung the keen stars of the North,
And deep within it moaned a troubled sea.

The joyous trust of those eternal fires,
And all the calm those billows yearn unto,
Were in that poem, in that soul's desires,
And in the Heart that flashed the vision through.

The wound is the place where the Light enters you.
Awakening, sweet flowers of summer-tide long overdue.

Sharing in Nature’s Beauty

Golden soft was the light that swiftly flew,
as whistling rain pelted majestic oaks
and the soaked birds began to cry for you
as Nature silently wrapped up its cloaks
thirsty for coming dawn, so bold and new.

Late through the night the wind went by in haste
till drained of strength it gave a final sigh.
The clouds dispersed and slowly sailed away.
Upon the land the moonlight fell from high
as rolling waves sought shelter in the bay.

The silver maples fluttered in the wind,
where the fast sleeping rabbits hid away
all beautiful, we wished to never end
with brightened colors, every joyful day
as Nature's beauty flowed out to transcend.

The sun crept up in drapes of crimson red
And creatures looked, enchanted by the view.
It was serene, and fragrance filled the air;
across the sky the playful seagulls flew....
A morning gift bestowed for free to share.

Star Gazing and Future Night Dreamings

I the gazer, that so admire glimmering stars on summer nights
Transfixed, and burning deeply from their beckoning call;
Sky filled with such divine and twinkling galactic sights,
A most beautiful blessing gifted to inspire humans one and all
Stand I briefly, on an earthly and lonesome glistening plane;
With mighty oceans that hold great mysteries and golden treasures;
Yet the sky's brilliant shining wonders keep me sane,
And are by far one of my admired and greatest pleasures.

Forests that rest beneath that glittering starlight glow,
Are beauties that need its far illuminating lights,
Glimmering stars on summer nights, show more than we may know;
As we in wonder, see infinity in sparkling, starry heights;
Out there far into eternity's vast reaching infinite shores,
We may yet find our destiny upon another earthly realm,
For our great dreams and future hopes are not sold in stores;
Nor achieved by sailing ships with no captain at the helm.

And man, that found great use for galactic posts to navigate.
May yet in his heart, far away, conquer his weakness of hate!

Gods Of Man's Vanity Demanding Intolerance

False realities fed to the masses
Another ghost ships sails the seas
Knowing not, yet their lie passes
Escaping truth's majestic pleas
Gods of vanity demands intolerance
Only its hate is to be displayed
Damn morals, into deeper ignorance
Silent servitude must then be paid
Love, always a great promised reward
Yet black evil roots firmly laid
In black garden in a devil's yard
Nobody sees the beast they ride
God of darkness their faith hides

A Break I Must Now Take

A break I must now take,
the road sad and long
Never one to love forsake,
or cry in a sad song.

Weary and need a break,

That Hidden Love Waiting In Those Skies

She fell into my view(her charms in tow)-
I was in shock, fire within those eyes.
And sunk! How could I get her to show
That hidden love waiting in those skies.

My solitude now just a lost, dry creek
Such grace dancing in her every step.
And then! My lonely heart heard her speak
Suddenly moved, my lost soul openly wept.

Life found, this live vision to now feel-
we that found each other on that ship.
Knew for sure! Our romance was the real deal
and gaily laughed the entire ocean trip.

Land-bound, finding every lover's secluded spot
the glow intense in her soft loving eyes.
And summer heated up as our romance got hot
In love! We swore to never say sad good-byes!

She fell into my view(her charms in tow)-
I was in shock, fire within those eyes.
And sunk! How could I get her to show
That hidden love waiting in those skies.

She Was A Rare Flower Desperately Sought

Soft, magnificent and colorful little flower,
So small and gentle in your beautiful bower,
Days of warm sunshine grace your pretty head
And some do prefer bright red roses instead
Yet, there is majesty in your sweet, simple glow
And waiting applause for your every show.

A grace that wraps all of your soft heart,
And a divine touch upon your every part,
Should we examine with a questioning eye
That beauty , sweet as a sunny blue sky:
Inspiring gleams of your blossoms of gold
Those splashes of epic colors so very bold!

A love deep and tender calls out your name
And my heart begs hard to ever be in your game!

Resolutions

(When Memories Shine, I Want Each Back Now)

Friends so dear, I once had so very many,
now I find I have not such a'plenty.
Sadness eats into me, with every great loss
I could not be as some, caring not a toss.

Swiftly years fly by and away they go too,
heart breaks, my spirit sails in the blue.
There is a lonely that finds its new place
and I with tears, see each departed face.

And each year, I make me another solemn vow
not hurt so bad but I never can find how.
For when I know they have forever raced on
soul wants them back and its crack is shown.

Each resolution brings on a sincere new vow
but when memories shine, I want each back now.
Friends, sadly I no longer have so very many
that I can now afford yet again to lose any.

Friends so dear, I want each back again,
pain rips deep, as I miss each lost friend.
Hurts to miss them, for all of these years
I bite my lip and try to hold back my tears.

Friends so dear, I once had so very many,
now I find I have not such a'plenty.
Sadness eats into me, with every great loss
I could not be as some, caring not a toss.

That Fire Burning My Needs

I fought your memory deep into lonely nights
gentle touches that were all delights.
Do not hold my love against my last desire
for my feet are still in your fire.

Where life now rambles in my desperate mind
rests clouds of romance waiting to find.
More time and slow walks by midnight seas
and love that we find with such ease.

Return to me! That fire burning my needs
in your glow resides our eternal seeds.
And forever now awaits its greatest thrill
again, beneath our tree upon shady hill.

I fought your memory deep into lonely nights
gentle touches that were all delights.
Do not hold my love against my last desire
for my feet are still in your fire.

A Poet Speaks From A Pure Heart

Like a thunderbolt hit, it came to me:-
" Writing heart's sentiments asking no praise."
Live and write with a pure mind that is free
silently watch the anger it shall raise!

A pungent odor invades this dark room
false flattery reeking of epic gloom
Give me truth that speaks of fantastic life
although such may bring miserable strife!

Give me words singing of earthy delight
even wicked curses that cause a fight
Never yield to vanity's jealous curse
to not admit quality is far worse!

Like a shot, louder sound awakened me:-
" Dare the sweeter truth for all to then see."
Stand proud daring silly critics to taunt
leave empty castles to foolishly haunt!

A Deep And Saddened Look Back

On a very sad sunny day in summer's glory
that tragic ending came to our love story.
Midnight, a night filled with bright, full moon
misery blasted me that hot day in June!

Your phone call put me into epic shock
your hammer had just cracked my rock.
A dark cloud descended over my life
WORST PAIN EVER- loss of my dear wife!

So sad.You cared not as you walked away
leaving me with loving words yet to say.
And destroyed was all our future plans
as you sought lust with your lusting fans!

As I look back and now see that event
soul tells me it was truly heaven sent.
Life has a plan to send us another way
ignoring sad pleas and what we may say!

Decades have now shown me wisdom galore
revealing life then became so much more.
Yet heart and soul may still remember you
sad years passed, still you have no clue!

There was that sweet family we never had
and our love lost forever, tis' so very sad.
Children, never born to grace our halls
AND YOU NEVER HEARING YEARS OF MY CALLS!

Robert J. Lindley, 12-15-2015

P oetry she sang sweetly, he could hear it
P romised their names in stone to be engraved
I n her songs the words healed and enhanced
N ew feelings just begging to be released
E very year they each other deeply romanced
S avoring love, every touch and kiss increased

Luck In My Steps, Dollars In My Shoe

When very young I dreamt of a pot of gold,
and the sweet things that money could buy.
Now time tells me, you are just too old,
with wings ripped, never again shall you fly!

Yet dreams return every night as I sleep,
they dance and parade as if coming soon.
I hope so, for six feet is mighty deep,
and no man has ever jumped over the moon!

Now that moon chides me for being too slow,
stranger never looking for its soft gleams.
Yet where was it as I suffered hard blows,
my every step was against raging streams!

With luck in my steps, dollars in my shoe
my heart singing into that clear blue sky.
I eagerly raced into town looking for you,
and found a letter saying adios and goodbye!

When very young, I dreamt of a pot of gold,
and the sweet things that money could buy.
Now time tells me, you are just too old,
with wings ripped, never again shall you fly!

A Drunk's Nightmare

True, she was not so fair
but he could not tell
He asked her on a dare
when he returned from hell.
She being a witch so bad
but she rang his bell
Took him for all he had
he did not ever tell.
Soon they had a little imp
no bigger than a small cat
Stunk like rotten shrimp
scaly head, fists like bats.
He went very far away
where nobody could tell
Up and ran off one day
rumor was, hiding back in hell.
True, she was not so fair
but he could not tell
He asked her on a dare
when he returned from hell.

Wrote this when my friend told me
about this thing he woke up with
hungover, in a motel room after a
huge Friday night drinking party.
He was so drunk he could not remember
who dared him to ask her to leave with him.
It was me...lol
