So finally got to see a retinal specialist. My endocrine doctor said I should because diabetes has such a high rate of blindness due to retinopathy. The appointment took 4 hours. I got the usual dilate the pupils and take a look with the little cameras. Then he sent me to the next building. Seems they have a research study for diagnosing and following retinal changes that uses a new technique. Previously they had used a dye to make blood vessels visible. This technique is a no dye one. They got their baseline and I was given good news. There is no retinopathy although he did find that my retinal vessels are slightly narrowed probably due to hypertension. Course I was practically blind outside. Wore my sunglasses all the way home.
