How you would comment this, gentlemen?

"The State Department acknowledged that the crew of the destroyer USS Donald Cook has been gravely demoralized ever since their vessel was flown over in the Black Sea by a Russian Sukhoi-24 (Su-24) fighter jet which carried neither bombs nor missiles but only an electronic warfare device. ... "

To believe or not this is a matter of Religion. But the fact is that after this "assault" about 30 servicemen asked for resignation.

Even if that were true there is another explanation. That is the dissatisfaction many service members have with being commanded by the fool, coward and traitor named obama!
Get used to our freedom of speech and our freedom to say what we think about our political leaders.
If you think that ship was blind you may be blind yourself IMHO.
I suspect that ship could have shot that rusky plane down any time it desired but was under "no fire unless fired upon orders"!
The coward obama is known for his insane --Rules of Engagement-- orders..
There is no magical device thats blocks all our electronic "military eyes".....

Unfortunately Americans lost the feeling of reality - "Russia IS NOT a banana republic to speak the language you are accustomed to with." And you may only suspect. Let us suspect together:

Russian aircraft buzz US Navy destroyer: How big a deal?

The incident took place over the weekend in the international waters of the Black Sea – ‘a long way from US Navy bases and at the front doorstep’ of the Russian military, a naval analyst says.

By Anna Mulrine, Staff writer <time id="date-published" itemprop="datePublished" class="eza-publish_date outer_block all_caps" datetime="2014-04-15T18:34:00-04:00" title="Published: April 15, 2014 6:34 pm EDTLast updated: April 16, 2014 2:06 pm EDT" style="text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 11px; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: 0.04em; padding-right: 4px; border-left-width: 1px; border-left-style: solid; border-left-color: rgb(136, 136, 136); padding-left: 10px;">APRIL 15, 2014</time>

WASHINGTON — When Russian attack aircraft buzzed the USS Donald Cook in the international waters of the Black Sea, even as tensions in the region ratchet up, Pentagon officials decried the move as “provocative.”

How big a deal are these “provocative” actions on the part of the Russian military – or were these just a couple of rogue Russian pilots out for a joy ride?

US military officials quickly dismissed the latter option. “I have difficulty believing that two Russian pilots, on their own, would choose to take such an action,” Col. Steve Warren said during a Pentagon briefing Monday.

“We’ve seen the Russians conduct themselves unprofessionally and in violation of international norms in Ukraine for several months,” he added.

During the cold war, these sorts of flybys “happened all the time,” says Christopher Harmer, a retired Navy officer who served as deputy director of future operations for the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

In fact, these kinds of incidents happen more often than ever makes it into the press, says Mr. Harmer, now a senior naval analyst with the Institute for the Study of War in Washington.

“We used to call it the ‘standard harassment package,’ ” and it was meant to send a message.

“It was their way of saying, ‘We the Russian military are still capable of monitoring the US Navy and still capable of putting ourselves in a position to harm you if it comes to that,’ ” he says.

Pentagon officials were quick to point out that the USS Cook “is more than capable of defending itself” against the Russian aircraft.

The incident, which took place Saturday, however, is “an overt reminder that this is their backyard,” Harmer adds, and that the Navy destroyer’s location in the Black Sea is “a long way from US Navy bases and at the front doorstep” of the Russian military.
The Russian aircraft flew within 1,000 yards of the ship and made roughly a dozen passes, but it did not fly over the destroyer, according to Pentagon officials.

“That is about as tame a flyby as you can get,” Harmer says. On the more aggressive end of the spectrum is a flyover of a ship such as an aircraft carrier, which happened on more than one occasion during Harmer’s time serving at sea.

The Naval Surface Forces (NSF (http://eng.mil.ru/en/structure/forces/navy/structure/surface_forces.htm)) of the Ministry of Defense (MoD (http://eng.mil.ru/)) are reporting today that three nuclear-powered Akula-class submarines belonging to the 24th Submarine Division of the Northern Fleet (NF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Fleet)) successfully “war-gamed” the American aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (http://www.roosevelt.navy.mil/) [photo 2nd left] causing it to “flee in terror” towards the waters off the Hampshire coast in the United Kingdom.
Within hours of the NSF reporting this critical incident, it’s interesting to note, British press sources confirmed that this US Navy behemoth of “100,000 tons of firepower (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3006792/100-000-tons-U-S-firepower-big-dock-Portsmouth-Aircraft-carrier-USS-Theodore-Roosevelt-anchors-Hampshire-coast-arriving-UK-five-day-visit.html)” did indeed dock off Stokes Bay in Gosport stunning the thousands of spectators who jammed roads and lined the banks of the River Solent to see it, but which they, also, described as a port call, though none had been scheduled.
According to this NSF report, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, and its combat escort ships, had been detected on a course towards the operating zone of the Northern Fleet which President Putin had put on full combat alert last week (http://fox6now.com/2015/03/16/amid-nato-exercises-russia-puts-northern-fleet-on-full-alert/) in response to a “State of War” threat (http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1846.htm) detected from the United Kingdom…a threat, the MoD adds to this report, was, likewise, in response to the Federations “Shock of March” battle plan revealed on 4 February (http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1835.htm).
With NATO forces, literally, lining the entire western border with troops (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-03-21/nato-launches-wide-scale-war-games-near-russian-border-creates-line-troops), including the unprecedented US Army’s “Dragon Ride” armored convoy (http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2015/03/22/402924/US-military-parade-across-eastern-europe) currently winding its way across six European nations, and Norway’s equally unprecedented “Joint Viking” combat war moves against the northern border (http://rt.com/news/239209-nato-norway-viking-drills/), this report continues, President Putin himself gave the order to “target and disable” the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
As Russia had warned its citizens last week to prepare for nuclear war (http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1850.htm), and Moscow’s bomb shelters began to fill (http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1848.htm) in response to the dire first-strike nuclear attack being planned by the US (http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1849.htm), and nearly all of the Federations military forces being on full combat alert (http://rt.com/news/241745-russia-offensive-defense-drills/) across all 9 time zones (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJNuxi5wq6Y), this report further notes, the approach of the USS Theodore Roosevelt towards the Baltic Sea made it a “legitimate” target.
To how this US aircraft carrier was “disabled” by the Northern Fleet’s attack submarines, this report says, was due to the Federations successful implementation of “magrav technology (https://www.thenewenergyindustry.com/magrav-technology-cd-version-01/)” weapons which had previously been used against American warships, and had “disabled” them too.
In fact, NSF experts in this report state, it was only a few weeks ago that the USS Theodore Roosevelt was “sunk” by a French submarine (http://theaviationist.com/2015/03/05/us-aircraft-carrier-sunk-by-subs/) using “magrav technology” off the coast of Florida during a war game wherein the Americans were testing their countermeasures against this revolutionary new weapon prior to their ships deployment to confront Northern Fleet forces.
The necessity of the US Navy to develop countermeasures against “magrav technology”, this report says, was clearly shown to them last year after Federation air forces completely disabled the feared AEGIS destroyer USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea (http://www.veteranstoday.com/2014/11/13/aegis-fail-in-black-sea-ruskies-burn-down-uss-donald-duck/). So demoralizing was this attack against the USS Donald Cook, when it limped into a Romanian port for repairs, all 27 of its officers put in for reassignment and/or retirement (http://www.veteranstoday.com/2014/11/13/aegis-fail-in-black-sea-ruskies-burn-down-uss-donald-duck/).
“Magrav technology”, its import to note, was conceived by the Iranian-born nuclear engineer Mehran Keshe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehran_Tavakoli_Keshe) [photo 3rd left], but whose works are banned from public use in the United States under an Executive Order signed by President Obama on 23 April 2012 (https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/04/23/executive-order-blocking-property-and-suspending-entry-united-states-cer).
President Obama’s signing of his Executive Order against “magrav technology”, it should be remembered, was due to the Iranian’s using it to down, and then capture one of the United States most secretive and sophisticated drones (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-16095823) in December, 2011, and then Iran sharing this new weapon with Syria too.
Immediately upon President Obama banning “magrav technology” in 2012, it should also be noted, Mehran Keshe replied to the American leader in an open letter by stating: ...

I will remain you in your beliefs, my dear friend. I noticed since late 60-s, that everything not corresponding to their imaginations the Americans use to call "propaganda". The only think I can assure you with is that those, who are responsible for it do not eat their bread for nothing. The only link in the article is to this one, http://www.nti.org/gsn/article/pentagon-protests-russian-jets-buzzing-antimissile-warship-black-sea/, and there is no mention of electronic devices, sailors resigning or "The State Department acknowledged that the crew of the destroyer USS Donald Cook has been gravely demoralized".

Logically, if the Russias did have such a device, why aren't they flying all over the Ukraine with it? All over Chechnya and anywhere else people oppose them? If this story were true, then the Russians are screwing up by not maximizing their use of this new miracle weapon.

First Russia DOES NOT fight in Ukraine. Russia HAS no intention to occupy it with all it's debts an ruined economy.
Second, this is NEWLY developed facility to be employed under certain conditions. And as far as our country doesn't conduct combat operations, there are no fields to use it in.

That's an easy comment. Bullshit.

If you think a guided missile destroyer can't shoot that crap out of the sky, you just ain't thinking. And I don't know ANY squids that'll back down to a dumbass plane.

How funny!

The Russian pilot was very careful not to fire up his targeting systems because he knew that he and that plane would have been vaporized within seconds.

Demoralized because of a flyby? LOL

Come on, Balu, you can do better than that.

If you Russians are wanting to demoralize the U.S. Navy sailors, you're going to have to sink their ship. Otherwise, I'm afraid you have no way to demoralize them.

Your guns are cute. It's nice that you've caught up to U.S. technology in use since 1973. Have you seen the new lasers that we're installing on our warships and warplanes?

Wow. Are you 16 years old? Or 15? That carrier has enough firepower to reduce your entire country to rubble. Y'all are about as technologically advanced as we were in the 1970s.

However, folks, this guy is a perfect example for voting the Dems out of office. They'd rather suck a$$ than put a bully in his place. If there's any reason that military people are frustrated it's because they won't turn us loose.

In all fairness Russian capabilities have improved in the last 20 years or so thanks to commercially available western technologies. The Akula II subs built in the late 1990's, were the first quiet subs Russia or the USSR had ever built. Supposedly quieter than the US Los Angelo's class attack subs.

1. It's a funny think, when you can visually see the fighter and is hot able to track this target. All the electronic is shut down and the only thing you have are black monitors of radars. Very encouraging. Tell me frankly, did you serve in the Army?
2. I know what you are trying to speak about. I am familiar with the results of their tests.
And now do enjoy a clip and think the subject over yourself. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

We really respect our President, the majority of Russians, so he has such high ratings in our country. Не is very strong (in all respects) and clever. I hope you saw him on his press conferences and noticed how much information he keeps in his head, enabling him to answer all the questions of hand. His answers are always clear and distinct. But humanly, I feel sorry for him. He really plows like a galley slave. If he is strong enough and haven't make serious mistakes, I will vote for him for his second period, should he be nominated as a candidate for election.

Gee ... let me be all diplomatic ... you're full of shit. The blatant lies you post are the proof.

Putin is playing a fool and getting away with it because our fool wears lacy pink panties. He didn't pull this crap on Bush, and he's going to tuck in his balls when we get a real President back.

In the meantime and for all your posturing, go ahead and fire on a US Naval vessel. Ain't nobody on that boat going to wait for Presidential approval to blow your commie asses out of the sky. We have the Right to defend ourselves against an immediate (non) threat -- because y'all can't threaten anything but little old ladies -- Your pilots couldn't take on OUR pilots if someone drugged our pilots. You'd think y'all'd learn a lesson with that 50 to 1 kill ratio in Vietnam.

And your ratings are a sham. Fear doesn't equal popularity.

Terrified US Aircraft Carrier Flees From Russian Subs To UK Safety

Within hours of the NSF reporting this critical incident, it’s interesting to note, British press sources confirmed that this US Navy behemoth of “100,000 tons of firepower (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3006792/100-000-tons-U-S-firepower-big-dock-Portsmouth-Aircraft-carrier-USS-Theodore-Roosevelt-anchors-Hampshire-coast-arriving-UK-five-day-visit.html)” did indeed dock off Stokes Bay in Gosport stunning the thousands of spectators who jammed roads and lined the banks of the River Solent to see it, but which they, also, described as a port call, though none had been scheduled.

greasy pizza is what they always served our first night at sea. then a mad dash for the rail by the new guys and up it comes

Agreed. In fact, despite the assertions and links, none corroborated the OP's statements except that a Navy ship was overflown by a Russian Su-24. Being overflown is a common occurrence. My carrier was overflown by two Soviet Ilyushin Il-38s. It's an illegal maneuver, but if harm is done, it's an act of war.

namvet. Totally agree, and remember a few of those AGI's as well. Oddly enough. We also saw many of them shadowing most of our ships down around Cuba, when we were operating out of Gitmo during Refresher Training. Saw them in the Med, South Atlantic, Red Sea, and Indian Ocean too.
Had several close calls where they intentionally crossed our bow by miles. Almost looking for trouble.
The BEAR'S overflying our ships, and off our Coast Lines may be ODD for civilians. But most of us who served at sea sort of got used to their weekly visits...NOBODY WANTED TO TALK ABOUT.

I spent a lot of time on the signal bridge when I wasn't on watch in radio. Had good friends up there since I was a former Signalman converted to Radioman. We'd use the BIG EYES with our resident Spook onboard, who came to take pictures, and report to D.C. via message.

Funny thing was. When we looked at those out on deck. They all looked like they wished they were somewhere else. Those ugly looking boats always looked like they needed paint....but all the Antenna's that were supposed to be FISHING GEAR? didn't fool anybody.
I remember hearing the CO, and XO making jokes...and didn't know officers knew all the SWEAR WORDS like the rest of us.

Never made the Persian Gulf tour, just Okinawa/Korea/Japan with the Marine Corps and the Med with the Navy. Saw a lot of Soviet boats in the Med. Came within days of going across the "Line of Death" on a DD with three battlegroups in to back us up but that op was canceled when the Iranians began mining the shipping lanes in the Gulf.

This video was made from the prep for that Op.

Just think kitty litter box and you made the tour.

We always picked up a guided missile destroyer and a sub when we entered the Strait. Not to mention we had 4 20 mm, microwave, radar activated chain guns that once activated, could shoot anything but turn on the ship itself at close to a thousand rounds per minute.

Just like the overflight, they'd come shake their fists because they knew we wouldn't fire. Or hoped we wouldn't. We damned sure won't with this weak-ass President.
