I think that for my ages I am not so bad. Last summer I rode alone during 1 day a 50 cc scooter of my wife to Nizhny Novgorod region. After this trip we then enjoyed "a party" till 2 a.m.
In 10 days panning to ride mine there. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

Departure - 4 a.m.
Arrival - 7-30 p.m.
Distance - 542 km. (362 miles)
Average speed - 35 km/h (24 m/h)
Gas - 12 liters.

Before the previous year we had the same situation in Russia. But now it is necessary to have a driving license to ride this pony.
In my particular case I am motivated solely expediency. The town is very small 9 kilometers only with 40 km/h speed limit and it is much more practical to use these scooters for local traveling rather than a car.
Hope you will enjoy a couple of funny Ukrainian clips on this subject.

I will tell ya what Balu I pick fun at the scooters but when I was down in Florida visiting with my Dad we rode down to Ft. Meyes ( a popular beach area ) well coming out of the town I had one of those scooters riding right behind me and I chuckled. Well he followed me out to the highway where I made a left and started up a bridge, the speed limit was 55 so I forgot about the scooter all together, but as I topped the bridge at 60 mph I happened to look in my mirror and there he was right behind me, and I must of made a funny face or something because I watched him get a smile on his face.

Once I got home I went to the local Bike shop up here that also sells those scooters and asked about them, the guy working there told me they have some that are like 600 cc , and the ones he had for sale ( I forget the size ) would get like 80 mpg, no wonder the retire's in Florida use them, I am guessing same thing over there.

As to means of transportation I apply to them the principle of comfortable shoes - 4x4 for hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and any off-road. А car of "C" class - for long distance travels ( for example to the Black see shore, when I cover more than 1,000 kilometers a day), a car of "A" class - for Moscow city daily driving, bike "Ural-Wolf" - a toy for a joy (sounds like a poem) and these two scooters for local travels, shopping and a fun together with my wife in a small town. Thanks to Lord I can afford myself all them simultaneously.

This is hers.

You see how lucky I am to have such a pretty wife, who is 2 years younger than my son, but two years older than my daughter. Everything could have been absolutely perfect but she is too jealous. Sometimes it bothers me a bit. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

There is a joke among our bikers saying - You're are a REAL biker only if you can afford yourself not less than a liter! ( In Russian there is a play of words with double meaning . 1 liter is 5 full glasses). http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

Jim that is the biggest waste of money on the market, I agree they ride great, that is after you drop the 30 grand for it and then drop another 5 with all the stabilizer BS to keep it upright, and even after all that when I was in Florida with Dad we went on a Spider run, when we would come to a bend in the road they would all slow to a crawl before going through it. Biggest POS on the market.

Not yet, does it have a race track? It would have a hard time competing with Barber.

EDIT:

There are curves in FL?

No it doesn't have a race track, but it has pretty much ever bike ever built, dang they had one that the only way to start it was to back another bike up to it, start that one and put it in gear so as it will cause the second one's wheel to turn, that is how it gets started. This is a major stop for bikers in the area, you should check it out, it is fantastic. And all the bikes ( well most ) run, the owner walks around and will pretty much start anything you ask him to, it is a great time.

As for the curves in Fl, my point exactly  but with that said yes when you go down through the orange groves the road has slight curves here and there, and yes these bikes had to slow for each one.

No way would they keep up with y'all on the sport bikes, heck they couldn't keep up with the cruisers in the mountains.

I knew they were real expensive but thought they were a good bike. Can I get some oversized training wheels on a Harley then? :) I think I would like a smaller Sportster, if I ever could. But I usually daydream by the time I hit the end of my street, which is about 50 yards away! Every time I veer a little bit in my truck I think to myself how I would be roadkill if I was on a bike.

Everyone seems to ride a scooter in Rome, and manages to look cool doing it.

Driving in Rome is not for the faint of heart. I was right in the thick of it, and I still couldn't tell you how it's done so well. People cut each other off constantly, weaving in and out with a few inches to spare, and yet I never saw an accident. They seem to have restraint and a calmness that we Americans (well, at least I) don't have behind the wheel. Weaving and cutting-off work much better in a scooter. As does riding between two lanes, lol.

Jim they make a thing that you can put on and remove from your bike pretty quickly that then makes your bike a 4 wheeled vehicle, once it is a 4 wheel vehicle you don't need a helmet. Drives the cops nuts, I have a friend that has one that gets pulled all the time but they have to let him go once they realize it is a 4 wheeler, I myself wouldn't of believed it if I didn't see it.

But I did find these for you.

At a local bike shop the cops put this same show on when they have a event, they are fantastic, that is almost a 900lb bike he is throwing around, but then at the end ( and maybe they showed it here I didn't watch until the end ) the cop lays the bike on it's side and picks the smallest girl in the audience and has her pick it up, it's all in the technique.

What is such a thing because once something has four wheels it brings into play a completely different type of vehicle with different regulations.
