What would you say about snakes, rats, cockroaches, beetles, snails, frogs, spiders, worms, tracks, cats and dogs? They ALL may be very tasty and delicious. Do trust me. I tasted ALL of them. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

Mmmm, seems that your worst (potato salad, brussels sprout (tie)) are in my "very edible" category:laugh:

But to answer your call;

Best = MEAT (with the exception of mutton)

Worst, I refuse to eat eggplant, lobster and mutton

... h'm. Those sanctions must be worse than I'd thought, Balu ....

I don't count any of those 'livestock' items (or pets !!) as food. Here in the UK we take some small pride in our dietary aesthetics ... cue some haggis for proof ?

Best food .. I'd have to choose beefsteak, preferably very chunky helpings.

Worst food .. I can't eat olives without wanting to vomit.

Olives are food's answer to Socialism. Slimy, greasy little blighters ... and the EU is a mass exporter ....

Mmmmmm, haggis !

Don't overlook the availability of Black Pudding (I often enjoy some generous helpings - Noir would NOT approve .. come to that, neither would any Muslim ..) ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding

Black pudding is a type of blood sausage commonly eaten in Britain, Slovenia, Italy, Finland, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Sweden, Estonia, Spain, Portugal and Latvia. It is generally made from pork blood and a relatively high proportion of oatmeal.

In the United Kingdom, black pudding is considered a delicacy in the Black Country and the West Midlands, Stornoway and the North West, especially in Lancashire (in towns such as Bury), where it is traditionally boiled and served with malt vinegar out of paper wrapping. The Stornoway black pudding, made on the Western Isles of Scotland, has been granted Protected Geographical Indicator of Origin status.

Black puddings are also served sliced and fried or grilled as part of a traditional full breakfast in much of the UK and Ireland, a tradition that followed British and Irish emigrants around the world. Black pudding is now part of the local cuisine of the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador

With apologies to Popeye .. Black Pudding is an excellent antidote to misguided spinach eating, because of its naturally high, eminently bio-available, iron content.

The above quote suggests eating it fried or grilled. Personally, I've found it quite tasty when it's eaten raw. It's very filling - you don't have to eat very much of it to feel you've got a full stomach.

Same here. Most of my meat dishes and starches (potatoes, mac&cheese) have lots of garlic. Usually just powder or minced in a large jar.

Best Entrees: lobster, shrimp, grouper, perch, sole, beef tenderloin, turkey, duck

Sides: nearly any veggie that can be roasted, especially love onions, peppers, spinach, and tomatoes. Love any type of potato.

Worst: hot dogs, any 'lunch meat' that isn't roast beef, roast turkey, or ham.

My ex and I (before she was an ex) went to Club Med Turks & Caicos Islands (the second week of September 2001, if that means anything to anyone). Club Med is an all inclusive resort where all the meals are covered. Since it was the islands, the selection of seafood was the most amazing I'd ever seen and I pigged out to the max on grouper, crap, shrimp, scallops and whatever else was on the table. That said, I couldn't believe the number of people lined up for hamburgers and chicken! Their choice. That just left more seafood for me.

Most any seafood is a treat for me. Good ribeye steak is also a favorite. Really don't have too many dislikes. My upbringing was all about kids eating what was served or you didn't eat. I don't find brussels sprouts too palatable. Oddly I like desserts but don't like two big favorites at work. All my coworkers seem to love red velvet cake and cheesecake and I really don't like them.

Best : King Crab, Lobster, Bacon-wrapped Scallops on the BBQ, Bacon, Halibut, Moose burger (1:10 bacon-to-moose grinding ratio), home-made Lasagna 6" thick, Razor Clams, Filet Mignon, Eggs Benedict. Oh, and Hash Browns.

Worst : Spam, Bologna, any kind of processed turkey product, tofu, oatmeal. I am violently opposed to oatmeal of any kind and I believe it should be banned from the planet. That smiling Quaker is the devil.

Yeah, Abbey.. I totally understand what you're saying about "Oh, but you haven't tried MY recipe!" I'm 44 years old and I know that I don't like to eat freshwater fish, no matter how it's prepared. Invariably when I tell someone that, they'll go into a 10 minute description of how I'm going to LOVE their fish. It's still fish, and I don't like it. I love Halibut because it doesn't taste like your normal fish.

Ack! No moose burgers! We try to spot a (living) moose every year in Maine. Just to appreciate their incomparable moos-iness. They are not the easiest animals to find. I just used that for my "pizza" comment, I wouldn't eat their crap either (ok, I would). We have awesome pizza in NY, so never a shortage of the good stuff. But if they're closed, or late at night - hell, I'll eat Domino's or even the frozen microwaveable crap. My obsession started back in my early stoner years. Oh man, they are delicious!

You start with this (these are larger than normal) :

http://www.debatepolicy.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7420&stc=1

And you put them in hot water to pop the shell open, and clean them and you end up with this :

http://www.debatepolicy.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7421&stc=1

The idea is to rinse all of the sand out of them, otherwise you're crunching on sand in your clams... which is kinda distracting. You don't eat them on the half-shell because they have to be cleaned first, but fresh off the beach these are a slice of heaven!

The fun part to going clamming is watching the kids get as filthy as they want without getting yelled at. They love getting covered in mud/sand/water from head to toe, of course. They call them Razor Clams because the ends of the shell that point skyward when they're buried and you're digging for them (by hand) will cut you like a razor - they're very sharp. The trick is to scoop your hand in a direction from the beach to the ocean so your fingers go across the sharp edges instead of along them. The clams always position themselves flat-side-to-the-ocean standing up vertically when they're buried.

I haven't gone clamming in a few years... it's a lot of fun and worth the effort to get those tasty little fellas.

I really don't like slimey, not in taste and not visually. Thus no okra, mussels, squid, oysters, etc. Don't get me started on sushi! Ick!

I like okra only in gumbo. Gumbo is not truly gumbo without okra.

You're right on gumbo, I've eaten okra in that dish. I don't know what it would be like without. LOL!

Calamari, oysters, clams, and mussels are not slimy - slugs are slimy.
You'd love mussels done in white wine the French way.

The seafood dish I had last night had konjac which I'd never had before. It was slippery without being slimy, if that makes sense.

My daughter liked to order snails when they are on the menu.
Until I showed her a picture of a live one, lol.

I had a friend eat a slug. Yep, a big fat greasy grimy slimy slug, right off the ground. All that for $5. :puke: And I don't know if it was worse or not, but he also ate a cicada for the same amount. Times were tough!!

I love snails and order them every time I see they are on the menu. The garlic butter and French bread are the best part.

Best and worst foods?

Best - broccoli

Worst - hominy, potato salad, brussels sprout (tie)

I was just now reading a Foxfire book and it told how to make hominy. Get this, you have to wash the hominy repeatedly to get the poison (lye) off of it. I can't remember exactly when it was that I tried hominy, but I remember the taste. Oh, so horrible.
