So, my 5 year old grandson cut his "pinky" on something while playing. Comes to me and says "look, Grammy, I cut my pinkie on something". I look and need a magnifying glass to see the speck of blood. I say "you're a big boy, suck it up!!"

His response in a very high pitched squeak "I'm NOT going to suck my pinkie Grammy"!!:rofl1:

So literal!

AWESOME .... if you like 112 degree days and 85 degree nights and pool at 92 degrees; never letting dogs outside without armed escort (rattlesnakes) and driving down a dirt road for over a mile to get to the house.

However, I get to spend tons of time with the grandkids. My daughter said she can't remember the last time her and hubby had an entire weekend to themselves. The first time it happened they were lost about what to do. Now .... it's "hey Mom, the kids want to know if they can come spend a couple of days with you".

13 year old grandson on first day out of school called me at 7:00 AM ... "can I come out to visit?". Makes all the other inconveniences pale in significance.

You and I might have to have one of those house swap things .... I'll come stay with you in the summer and you can come stay with me in the winter.

When you get a free day, come on up and cool off, our high so far is 102, much cooler than you! Hey, we could drive to Flagstaff, they're likely in high 80's! ;)

The kids are going to Vegas over the 4th with their in-laws and then going to Mexico at end of July. Gary and I are trying to pick a place to take new trailer for a trial run. I'll see if he wants to go up to Flagstaff for a couple of days and look around.

Send me your contact info and lets get together soon.

Now that is cute SL.

My boys, I guess it was around your grandson's age would come doing that whining stuff and I would tell them to let me see it, when they held it out I would smack their hand ( never hard, just playing ) then I would tell them to carry on, big boys don't cry. To this day if one gets hurt in a ball game say, if I walk up they quit with all the drama and get back up, they know daddy doesn't do drama.

Little boys love to be babied by Momma, hell my wife says I love it as well, I guess it is in us to like to have a female make a big deal about our Bo Bo's, but there comes a time when the kids must realize a kiss doesn't fix it. Man that always cracked me up, kids crying like they are being murdered and Momma's magical kiss takes all the pain away.

It's just a couple weeks since I've been in AZ a year. The weather is so very different than IL! It's blazing hot the past week, yet only perhaps 10 days ago was pretty darn cold and rainy! As hot as it is here, if I drive 25 miles south to Cottonwood, the temp jumps about 10-12 degrees. Needless to say, going to Cottonwood is all 'downhill' or 'downmountain', if you will.

As I said, Flagstaff is about 45 miles north, all 'upmountain.' Sedona is just over 4k feet above sea level; Flagstaff over 7k. Pretty consistently 15-20 degrees cooler. A month ago the mountains there were still snow covered. Driving 15 minutes north of Flagstaff, the mountains still have snow!

I have a buddy that's in Arizona. He absolutely loves it, but said there are about 2 months out of the year that he lives in the house or car, too damn hot, but that the rest of the year is awesome.

Well I'd say from the temps now and what I experienced last year, late June-August are all about finding a bit of shade, pool, or air conditioning-in the car the air conditioning isn't what it's cracked up to be. If you're in sunlight, you are HOT! I've been walking 1.5-3 miles, but am done by 6 am. In Sedona the nights are in the high 60's or low 70's, it's high desert. Probably because of the ocean, LA seemed much colder at night than Sedona.
