The initial aim of my presence here was to refresh my active vocabulary, as by the moment of my entering here I had been out of my active practice, say, for 15-20 years.
I really need your OBJECTIVE judgment, with no flattering, as to the progress (if any) in my grammar and the vocabulary I used, whether it was more rich, or not?
Faithfully Yours,
Balu.

Reasonably good. You use better English and have better vocabulary than these American nationals:

You looks like a sniper.
When I were on the forth course of my Institute and "polished" my English in the International Exhibitions in Moscow, visiting other booths I was surprised being asked if I were from Alabama. But... it was many, many years back.

I DO NOT want to drop my face into the dirt when shoving some countries to my Grandson.
I want HIM to see the target to be shot, as he used to be proud of his retired Grandpa with all my awards and personal encrusted pistol, which he really admires.

Sometimes your sentence structure is off a bit, but it is not unintelligible.

Me? Angry?...
Never! To become angry, this is ENOUGH reason to loose your professional career.
Have you ever seen Lt.Colonel Putin be angry? Sure that NEVER. But he knew ME in 1995, when nobody of you even suspect of his existence.
You may consider it as an explanations why some of the Members of the board are in my black list.
I am accustomed to deal with any persons, but not sheltered schmucks.

Let us do all the things another way.
You see I am from the previews century.
I have my note with 8.1 windows.
Can anybody tell me how to record, say a sentence, which you are able to hear on the board to judge my speaking, or send me address to my privet PB to contact me by Skype, to let me have YOUR estimations HOW I can speak yet now, after such a long interval/break?

In all honesty I forget the grammar jargon. Use though? "Might" implies choice, i.e., "I might do that, maybe I won't."

"Ought" means 'should do.' The choice of what to do is implied by 'ought.' i.e., "I ought to change the oil in my car every 2k miles."

You can also use both: "I ought to change the oil every 2k miles, but I might push the change to 3k miles to save money." (The speaker may actually choose to change it somewhere between 2-3k miles, acknowledging he knows when he 'ought.'

Hospitality?! - FORGET!
There is no a hint of this. But for me all this is natural as I KNOW you, me American PARTNERS. (I am using the OFFICIAL diplomatic terminology.)
There is a pair of persons in this bord I really like to speak with. Hope that one of them, a charming Lady, understood whom I meant.
You are living YOUR Life and me, I am not a Jesus Christ to teach you the lessons "HOW".
Maybe other Russian felt himself uncomfortable in your flightб but not ME. I AM BALU - the subject which must be clear to you, English speaking. None of you asked me about my avatar and no need now. The train departed and the rails became cold and rusty.
In general I am grateful for EACH of you for your being as you are.
So,
Remaining yours,
Balu.
I have the honor! As we used to say among us, Russian Officers.
P.S.
Wish you ever have a Monument to your solders somewhere in the World, as that in Berlin, in Treptower Park.
We forgave Germans. In spite of all they WERE Solders. So, the more valuable OUR Victory is.

Balu, I'm just going to call you "Blue" for now on, just sounds better, and what I keep thinking anyway with that blue bear avatar ya got. Every time I see you post, I think "Blue", and then think of this guy from the movie Old School. He's the old guy (no offense). LOL "You're my boy, Blue!!"

First - I think everyone understood immediately the significance of your avatar at first sight. A Russian Bear. Especially with that Soviet star on his cap, standing in front of a bunch of Vodka. I think all of us saw the humor in it. I didn't think it was worth commenting on since it was obvious, but it was humorous to me.

Second - Your English is not always clear, but you do a great job for the most part. As someone else pointed out, your English is better than some Americans that we've seen. No one has corrected your English because it's usually considered rude, but since you are genuinely interested in improving your English you'll find that almost everyone will help you - you only needed to ask.

Kathianne is a great resource for you, because she teaches English as a teacher.

You can email a .wav file to me and I'll help you as time permits.
