I Will Write Words That Eat Out Of My Darkened Soul

I'll not write my poetry with dull sanctioned pen
pay the price with my spirit like other men,
tribute to uniform codes and enslaved dreams
a drone in other people's evil scheming schemes.

I'll not conform to the deadening dry and the dull
a rotted seed wedded to a buried and dying hull,
never one to eat off another man's dinner plate
desiring another path and a kinder poetry mate.

I will walk a road traveled by the rebellious few
a shadowy trail full of spirit and wrapped in blue,
where great apples eat of the tree they hang to die
a jealous mystery, the heart of which refuses to cry.

I will write words that eat out of my darkened soul
wrapped in sweet kindness and glory from the whole,
hearts's love and inspiration dredged from the deep
singing lamentation from the beast that can not weep.

Cut me fast, bleed me down to my aching old bones
curse me out, slay me with righteous angered tones,
burn my spirit with flames of jealous, maddened rage
stomped me to death and enslave my muse , my old sage.

I'll not write my poetry with dry, dull sanctioned pen
pay the price with my high spirit like other men,
tribute to uniform codes and great enslaved dreams
a drone in other people's evil scheming schemes.

Robert J. Lindley

Note: Do not blame me , my muse has hounded me to write this piece for over
four months now. I yielded only to spiritual torment and enlightened demands.
If I am to be forced to conform by the power of the ruling class I will wage war
until the sky erodes, the mountains fall and the darkest devil dares to emerge to
try to slay us all.
Qui mortuus capto opus salutem tribuet .
Victoria vadit ad Victor !

Death, You Do Not Win

The world has been unkind to me
yet there's no where, no where to flee.
I'll sit and take it if I must
for all return to earthly dust.

To cry will do no worldly good.
Defy with spirit, as I should.
A loss that cannot be replaced
yet life must once again be faced.

So here I sit and wonder how
to stop the gloom which eats me now.
Can it be slain with greater love
or only healed by God above?

Once, anger always worked for me
but now, this time decides to flee.
Yet I seek not its quick return
true folly that my Soul shall spurn!

Contest judging with Brenda Chiri -poems below

Here are the beginnings of the poems my friend

Edge Of Insight
Form: Rhyme

Why are some so quick to judge

Before they know all you've been thru?

They'd rather give a nasty nudge

Than take a stab at grasping you

And following assumptions, trudge

Upon the shining things you do.

There are so few who understand

That ALL of us are tending strife

And all that we had wished or planned

Is at the mercy of our "REAL" life

(I hope from that high place they stand

They don't fall down on their own knife).

Judgmental Free
Form: Rhyme

Judgmental people and haters
rise on the internet like mashed masked potatoes,
complaining and cajoling point of words and rhetoric
while lying low in their own hidden shtick.

The voices, text trembles, lost in malignant words
with anger, hate, scorn, disapproving chords,
become acceptable display of thought on speech set free
exempt for theirs and similar company.

Politically incorrect thought exuding malaise
of who can speak or write in poeticly accepted phrase,
freedom and equality lag far behind and suffer
when folks fail to use their mind and not their tongue as buffer.

Don'y judge me harshly
the words I may express less smartly,
are in my heart and on my mind
with rapture and obsession to be kind.

Something more than your haiku

Or sig yer hoes on me
You mess with the wrong one
Can't your Silence see

You can make the others
Lick up all yo shoes
But head on off to boys town
For another that you choose

Shake bam rattle

Bye ya made up tyrant

Return Of The Bright Red Sun

Dark Days
(Robert J. Lindley)

The Red Sun had hidden away for some years
no blood red to inspire with glowing sheen
Back again, those fiery red crocodile tears
Love had died, she was only a lonely teen

Dark days, she cried - please give me Light
her sobs fell upon deaf ears- apathy reigned
With no heart, no purpose- no use to fight
Bleeding heart, torn dress and life stained

Hiding in a dark and badly painted room
shadows raced above her small trampled bed
So nasty, a curse repeated about her doom
wishing death, she refused to ever be fed

As sad dark curtains slowly dropped down
blasting forth a wave of Red Sun light
Set aglow, the red rose adorning her gown
Her heart rose to follow this divine sight

For Collaboration Celebration...

p.s.
I simply could not pass up a chance to do this..

Above is my submission sent to the contest sponsor-Poet Destroyer.
I chose the first theme topic offered of the five presented- 1. Dark Days, any length acceptable
Wrote sixteen verses and sent the presentation to P.D. via pm at the poetry sight.
Now will wait to see if its chosen to be a collaboration pick by her and a judging team..

I did this knowing that she writes mostly free verse and not in rhyme. And that because her free verse is so damn good!
Should my entry not be chosen by her , I will do a small rewrite to finish it up and post it both here and there. --Tyr

Dark Echoes Filled A Hurting Soul

Yes,I cursed at your altar,I broke from the strain
Death caused me to falter, blues ate into my brain
No measure of pity, could ever heal this broken soul
Dark in the city, slashing me,taking a deadly toll.

You laughed,at my wounds, spit at my returning love
Like big waves hitting dunes, erosion ate from above
Night brought,loneliness aplenty,more hurting sounds
Never found, any kindness, yet cries were your hounds.

Yes,I know the sorrow, the cutting of the fresh meat
Nay,I never borrow, the stain of pity when you greet
No heart, holds your soul,as your hate eats to feel
Recovery,is my goal,as still I rejected your evil deal.

This Old Castle

This old castle, groans under the bright sky
stones weep for blood soaked in long ago
With walls made of granite and invaders to deny
forced entry or even any heavy catapult throw!

This old castle, dark nights music creeps out
sad songs tell of blood and decaying bones
Some say ghosts scream and flurry all about
whispering curses in agonizingly low tones!

This old castle, fortress to protect its life
boiling oil once poured on attackers below
Death and sad pain washed in misery and strife
war being the worst kind of dark, bloody show!

My half(first half) of a collaboration poem from a new contest(just written tonight).
Contest title- Pick A Partner, pick a poet to collaborate with on a poem.
Theme is -Castles. Both names must be included and dated.

I wrote this and have not even picked a partner but have at least a dozen that
will most likely write as my partner there.
My problem is all are great and picking one will be a hard decision! -Tyr

The Winter Blues

Winter blew in with a scant little whimper
Fall skulked away with hardly a peep
Deep cold, blowing winds fit some's temper
Yet others they sadden enough to weep!

Snow brings its beauty and shining charms
Frigid air sets furry critters about
Blizzards blasting forth set great alarms
Where frozen forested cries ring out!

Nature knows best and gives as she pleases
Hardest season sets the coming stage
Death and pain, of which Spring then eases
Time for each, says the wizened sage!

Cold chills, hang glisten silent through the night
Decembers solstice sets the stage northbound
Jack Frost pretends to be Earth's white knight
Dark days of winter winds; ice-kiss the ground

Autumn renews chilling barren vows,
Wonderland enables the sun on numb
Icicles form, a voice shared -leaving nature roused
Winter's blue melodies washed down with rum

A cold peril storm, enjoying the winter sky
Frostbitten dawn, desolate sunset of worthlessness
A leafless desire to intensify nature's supply
Loss from exposed skin, of hopelessness
***
Snow, Sleet, and hell; patients needing detox
Atlas Spring gives way to the Viral Equinox

Thank you again, Robert! I think I have an answer to your suffering expressed once in PM. Only those, whose imagination is much richer than those of film producers and comics authors are able to understand and adore poetry.

Silence And Serenity Are Both Golden

When your brain cries out for that very sweet release,
from mind pains given by a darkness thus embolden.
Let bright shine from the color of Jason's fleece,
remind you that serenity and silence are both golden!

Turn off the noise , race right on to your comfy bed,
set the stage for a quiet, restful time for dreaming.
First consider a nightcap to soothe the pounding head,
acknowledging the power of good whiskey so redeeming!

Be not dismayed if silence races not to join so fast,
most good things teach us how to plan and just wait.
Greatest blessings are those sought that truly last,
best to cook the food right before loading the plate!

Life, music may be great but often silence is golden,
say your prayers but do not wait until its too late.
Remember to a higher power you are rightly beholden,
ask for silence to soothe your soul and quietly wait!

When your brain cries out for that very sweet release,
from mind pains given by a darkness thus embolden.
Let bright shine from the color of Jason's fleece,
remind you that silence and serenity are both golden!

I chose silence(golden)...for serenity delights in it.

Written for a contest. New form just found today.-Tyr

This is a (Tri-Con) poem:

Created by Connie Marcum Wong,
consisting of at least
4 three line stanzas. Each line
has no set meter or
syllable count. The last word
in each stanza must rhyme
with the following Stanza and
then you need to change your
rhyming word again in the third
stanza and so on.
------------------------------

She Danced With Style And Grace

She walked with style and flair
twinkle gleaming for here eyes,
everything glowed in her face.

Yet no arrogance rested there
no rush swept her sweet life,
holding a hint of an exotic race.

So easily the belle of the party
dancing, twirling her raven hair
she laughed and inspired us all.

Flickering lights danced for her
she glided with such smooth grace,
acknowledged queen of the ball.

Of the many seeking her hand
only one held her loving heart,
a farmer's son and honest man.

I too, knew my chances quite slim
yet ventured with great pleasure,
my hard thought love winning plan.

I am flattered she whispered to me
but my heart rests soundly with him,
my brother's gallant young friend.

For love tells me his heart is true
holding me with his love and pride,
together we'll love until time's end.

Robert J. Lindley. 08-15-2015
