I love some of the classic comedies. I have a lot of them on DVD and VHS and was wondering what everyone's favorite is and why.

If you selected other on the poll please explain what show and why.

For me it is a close call between All In The Family and Sanford and Son. All in the Family wins because Archie is just unbeatable. For it's time period I don't know how it was allowed on TV. I don't think there was ever an episode that I didn't laugh so hard tha I cried. My favorite was when Lionel Jefferson was dating Archies favorite niece and Edith was trying to keep it a secret.

Sanford and Son was creat as well. Redd Foxx was an awesome actor/comedian and it was created by the same people as All In The Family.

Huh?

All in the Family was always about the liberal agenda. With a nod to the reasons some had a problem with that agenda.

Why are you demanding that I defend my choices in television viewing of 15-20 years ago?

No, it never seemed to make sense for me to buy it because it's on cable at some point literally every night. Of course, now I don't have cable, and I'd really love to have the show.

On top of stupid, racist.

I thought All in the Family was very similar to Sanford and Son in that the main character was mean to be laughed AT, not WITH. Lamont was Sanford's Meathead, I think.

NM, ever heard Redd Foxx's standup? I have an old tape, it's hilarious.

Sanford and Son was done by the same peoplpe as All in the Family, thats why they are so simular. You should get them, I think they are only like $19.99 a piece.

As fa as Redd Foxx's stand up comedy, hell yes I have almost every album on cd, he is great! One of my favorite comedians.

My three favorite classic TV shows

1. The Honeymooners
2. Star Trek (the original series, not the politically correct, sappy, spacemen in spandex crap that some people call "The Next Generation")
3. Twilight Zone (with Rod Serling)

Foster Brooks is almost as funny as Redd Foxx. He would always act like he was drunk when he wat doing his comedic act' I guarantee you will love it if you like Redd Foxx.

They've done the occasional Get Smart marathon on TV, but the entire series (5 seasons, I think) is now on a very high quality DVD set, with intro comments to each show by Barbara Feldon. I bought it for my hubby as soon as it was released.

I always liked them better than the Munsters. I always thought that the Addams' always knew they were different but didn't care while the Munsters were clueless about their oddness and din't understand the reactions of those around them.
