Well, coming as this does from a Brit ..

1. Trump
2. Santorum [Either/or Trump, or Santorum, at 1st place]
3. Rubio
4. Cruz
5. Walker.

I've avoided selecting Fiorina deliberately. She's not without merit overall. However, America badly needs someone strong on foreign policy and security issues .. and that's Fiorina's comparative weak spot, from what I've seen. You need no-nonsense candidates for that, someone who'll face up to unwelcome truths, & go the extra mile (Santorum's my best pick for that).

Of course, they're all WAY better than Obama, or any of his mob ...

It's OK for you to put Fauxcahontas and Bernie "Socialist" Sanders, or Gloria LaRiva of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, no party was mentioned in the OP.

You would particularly like Gloria LaRiva, she's a 99 and 44/100 percent pure hammer-and-sickle Communist. She is a former CP-USA VP candidate.

Some of her important works that would impress you are:

A Woman's Place Is in the Struggle (you gotta love that)
She also translated Fidel's book Cuba at the Crossroads.

What if that fake injun runs when Hillary drops out? Perhaps we need a Republican woman to counter her?

Why are you waiting for candidates who cannot win, but can ensure a Dem victory?

As I've said in the past I'm not voting again for another Half hearted republican who does 75-90% of the same things the Ds do.
I'm voting for an enemy and PRETENDING it's going to change something.
If I'm going to vote for I'll vote for what i really believe in rather than vote for another republican that takes the country further away from what i believe ...just more slowly.

One thing i agree with some of more strident folk here on is that the country has gone TOO far and it's in real trouble.
Tyr and others say it will come to gun play.
I keep repeating before that we have votes. We KNOW without doubt that the republicans haven't meant or done what they've said for 40 years.
Make them pay. vote 3rd party it's our 1st line of rebellion. Until the Rs and Ds realize were serious they'll keep shoveling S--- for candidates an doing whatever they want when they get in.

I am like you somewhat, revelarts. I could not even hold my nose and vote for McCain. However this time I think we have many good candidates.

in principal we may be on the same page, but on specifics i suspect that were a bit different.

And the candidates always talk a good game. Actions and who the party establishment pull for always is disappointing.

There is no one currently running, in any party, that I would vote for. If Elizabeth Warren enters the race, I would support her.

Yep, I can see why someone would run 3rd party but I really can't see any reason to vote 3rd party. You are denying your vote to whichever major party candidate is closer to your views, so you're really helping the candidate that is farthest from your views. What is accomplished?

Did I say that Fiorina had less foreign policy experience than the others ? That's not an accurate assessment, if I did ! No, she lacks experience in serving directly in public Office, that's my understanding.

No, I say she has a weaker CONSERVATIVE stance than others. And this, at a time when you can't have a strong enough Conservative approach to that aspect of the Presidency !

Consider all that Obama has done on the international scene. Wouldn't you want someone motivated to undo whatever damage COULD be undone ? A candidate WEAKER on such issues is surely not to be preferred ?

See ....

http://presidential-candidates.insidegov.com/l/63/Carly-Fiorina

In each of these measurements, the greater the score, the stronger the Conservative stance is considered to be. A maximum score is TEN.

<tbody>
At an ideology score of 2, Carly Fiorina is moderately conservative when it comes to defense/international issues. Fiorina is more liberal than the average 2016 Republican presidential candidate.

OK, I've posted an assessment of Carly Fiorina on defence matters. It shows her to be one of the more LIBERAL candidates out there, on the Republican side.

Now, here's what you COULD be voting for, as an altogether stronger alternative (same scoring parameters apply, of course) ....

http://presidential-candidates.insidegov.com/l/58/Rick-Santorum

<tbody>
At an ideology score of 10, Rick Santorum is very conservative when it comes to defense/international issues. Santorum is far more conservative than the average 2016 Republican presidential candidate.

Rick Santorum has held public office, so has that experience to fall back on. I understand that the same cannot be said for Fiorina.

Look at the scores. Who's better equipped to meet today's world geopolitical environment, and most especially at a time when resolve, patriotic duty, clear and uncompromising leadership, must most completely be demonstrated ? Who would be better, under such testing circumstances ?

Here are mine:

1. Carson
2. Fiorina
3. Rubio
4. Cruz

At the end, maybe we can tally them and see which ones are the favorites.

1. Walker
2. Cruz
3. Carson
4. Fiorina
5. Rubio
6. Kasich
7. Trump

Voting third party is your one line of supporting Hillary, Biden, or worse without pulling the lever for them.

Drummond,

Your pick as #1 is Trump. Using your criteria of why you avoided Fiorina doesn't make sense to me. So, you think Trump has more experience serving in public office than Fiorina? Hmmm, must have missed that part of his life. At least Fiorina has campaigned for public office prior to this, which is closer to public office than Trump. I do believe she has been on several advisory boards for public agencies ... has Trump?

And you think he has more experience with foreign policy? Missed that as well.

Conservative? It seems that his conservatism is fairly new. I believe he's changed some of his beliefs (i.e., planned parenthood) recently. I think Fiorina has more conservative values.

I guess we all see what we want to see.

While voting is a given, why do people act like spending an hour counting their preference is this huge task. I will stack my yard sign posting, get-out-the-vote phone calls and letters to the editor against your wasted vote. Wendy Davis may cancel out my vote, but she won't cancel out my hard work.

The next president of the United States will be either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. And the only way Hillary wins is if THE DONALD is not nominated.

I was thinking that had Ben Carson not imploded, he would have been the perfect running mate for THE DONALD. That would have guaranteed a landslide victory, regardless of who the Democrat Party vomited on the stage.

I'm thinking that Ted Cruz will be tapped for the Veep spot. A lot of us probably were expecting that, even hoping for that. And I think it's smart. Trump and Cruz both targeted the Republican base. If they go into the general election with that huge demographic, the race will be over. The Republican base is basically most of America. Just ask those Reagan Blue Dog Democrats.

It's hard to imagine anyone else getting the Republican nomination. If the RINO establishment class gets its way and puts up Jeb or John Kasich, then Hillary will be the next president. It'll be McCain/Obama all over again.

Yes, horrible things happen to America. The day before 911, nobody could have imagined such a thing happening. And it's hard for me to imagine this country being so stupid to let another Obama disaster hit us.

Truthfully, I would have pegged Dr. Carson as the next Surgeon General. I think in a Trump administration he would have been valuable at helping us get rid of Obamacare and undoing all the damage it has done.

Right now, Real Clear Politics has Trump defeating Hillary in an Electoral LANDSLIDE. (Why can't RCP be in charge of predicting the weather?) That doesn't mean it will happen. It means if there is no major change, then Trump will be the next president.

My fingers are crossed.

Nice post, but I would not say Ben Carson has imploded. There is a poll that shows Carson's numbers down to 18%, tied with Cruz, and Trump up to 27%, but it's an Oklahoma state poll. Not especially indicative of how the national race is going.

The average of the latest national polls has Trump with 25%, Carson with 22%, and Cruz still down at 11%. Rubio is actually ahead of Cruz at 12.4%.

Btw, I'm getting these numbers from RealClearPolitics:

I don't see Carson going the distance. At some point, people are going to get over the mystique of his amazing life as one of the premiere Neuro Surgeons of all time. Some people are going to wonder where in his entire resume is there any experience necessary to run a country.

I like the man a lot. And I truly believe he would benefit as Trump's running mate. That would guarantee a Trump landslide victory. And after 8 years as Veep, he would be ready to run a country.

Rubio is a flash in the pan. I like him a lot, but he never should have run for president. It's not going to happen for him in this cycle, especially with his views on Amnesty. And now he's going to be without a job soon. And Florida just might elect a Democrat in his place, so he isn't doing the country a whole lot of good.

In regard to voters getting over Carson because he doesn't seem to have a resume for running a country, I would counter by saying voters apparently never got over it with Obama.

In regard to Carson being a good VP choice for Trump, if Trump gets the nomination, I'd agree with that, although Trump has already stated he will pick Cruz if he gets to that point. And it was already obvious, because Cruz was the only one that Trump wouldn't attack.

The ability to manage logically and react with a cool head if something goes wrong is not a different set of skills. The vocation may be different, but the traits are no different than any other good leader. And you can just trust me on THIS one ... I KNOW the difference between a good and a bad leader. Exactly! And contrast this with Obama, who was elected Senator, and then immediately President, with virtually no skills on his resume beyond public speaking. And then unbelievably he was RE-elected, confirming that at least 50% of American voters have either no intelligence or no integrity.

Can you point out how Trump's set of skills is different than Carson's when it comes to leading this nation?

Carson's profession requires a measured analysis of the situation and there is no negotiating with a tumor, which is what Trump keeps telling us .. that he is the master of negotiation. I think he likes to fly by the seat of his pants and therein lies the difference. He always wants to be the star, in the spotlight if you will, and I think he will run this country the same way ... doing whatever he thinks will keep him in the spotlight and damn the consequences.

Metaphorically, Carson gets to the source of the problem with "surgical" acumen and then starts dissecting it with precision and with as little collateral damage as possible to preserve quality of life. I picture Trump going for the brain tumor with a machete ... "yup, got that sucker and it won't be coming back ... but neither is the patient".

Anyway, both have appeal ... especially with both being "outsiders".

~ "Can you point out how Trump's set of skills is different than Carson's when it comes to leading this nation?" ~

Trump is Ruthless when it comes to Ignorance and Dangerous people / countries...Trump is an excellent negotiator (when it comes to getting good things for our country)...Trump has connections everywhere...Trump is "awake" and can read very well "in-between the lines" (he is hip)....Trump is not nice and not "PC"...there is no weakness in him....( he doesn't care what "they" think or will "Think")

`Trump has the ability to put the right people together quickly for the right Job....Thus...his proven success in business...There is no half way crap with Trump..."he will be in it to WIN"...Americans will love Trump...(better life...jobs..opportunity)...The Military will Love Trump (Power and backing to finish a job fast and vicious) ...The POLICE will Love Trump (let them do their jobs finally)...I Feel Trump can find great Places for Cruz and Carson....and "Carly" :)

Trump is also hot-headed and flies off the handle over the slightest insult, losing focus on the mission at hand. Someone like that is as bad as Obama who buries his head in the sand. Obama won't call the enemy what it is and hothead Trump wants to pick a fight over trivial crap. We, the people, lose either way.

Neirher one of them is suitable. We need a woman. Well not just any woman.
Carly 2016.

I would favor Condi Rice if she ran, or even accepted VP.

She'd be a good running mate for any of the leading Republicans.

I see it differently. I don't need a specific "anything" except qualified for the job. I'd have gone with Perry. I think Bush is the most qualified left. Perry and Bush both are not media friendly. They're stiff and dull. Which says what about US? Their records as Governors are unrivaled. But because they suck on camera, we want someone else.

I like Carson because he has a cool head. So does Fiorina. Christie's a loose cannon like Trump. Senators who vote in lockstep along party lines are already what we have.

Not that I needed further impressing by him, but I was impressed with Dr. Carson's Thanksgiving trip to Jordan to witness the Syrian refugee crisis firsthand. And his (as usual) thoughtful reasoned plan to help them without bringing them here. Maybe I missed it, but I did not see any other candidates making such a trip.

We're too logical. Carson is logical. Trump appeals to emotion. Emotion doesn't run a country the right way.

We already have Trump v1 in the White House. An alligator mouth with a bumblebee ass bully talking shit and not following the rules. I don't want Trump v2. Either Bush or Christie would be better leaders than he is and I can't stand Christie. He's a slob. Written all over him.

Trump's a loser and time will prove that out.

It's been close to 2 months since this was last done, so at the risk of having WWIII, who do you like today? I have dropped Dr. Carson out of my top 3, but I still love the guy.

My top 3, but I like and would vote for many of the candidates:
1. Rubio
2. Cruz
3. Christie

Here's the problem I have and have had with these debacles they flatter themselves with by calling them debates: Most have spent all their rime tearing each other down. Trump has been the worst. He's more worried about Cruz's citizenship than having an actual platform to run on. He is by far not the only one doing it, just the worst.

Fiorina has been attacking Hillary since Day One. I'd vote for her in a minute because she at least can recognize WHO the enemy IS. Unfortunately, being a rock star like Obama instead of attacking the issues appears to be what the right thinks everyone wants.

I'd go with Cruz, Fiorina or Carson; although, I think Carson would be a better VP because he isn't assertive enough. I'd even add Rand Paul to the list. The rest can all go down in "American Pie" for all I care.

Several Republicans are getting X's through their names by me, for a few reasons:

1. The Cruz campaign was very slimy in Iowa. They reworded a statement from CNN saying Ben Carson was going to go home to Florida between the Iowa and NH campaigning, and heavily implied Carson was dropping out of the race. They did this right as people were heading to the Iowa caucuses. This may have been why Cruz did so well, and Carson did so poorly. Very slimy, so Cruz - you need to get out of the race.
2. Jeb Bush and Chris Christie apparently have decided to spend all their ad money attacking Marco Rubio, instead of promoting themselves. Exactly what is not needed. If that's the best they can do, then its time for them to get out of the race.
3. As much as I like Ben Carson, it looks like his chances are fading. It also looks like he is a less effective debater than the other candidates.
4. Also, several candidates have dropped out.

That leaves me with a shortened list to pick from, and here's my new list:

1. Rubio
2. Trump
3. Fiorina
4. Kasich

Depends on your strategy. I've mentioned this well-known fact before .... Kennedy chose LBJ as a running mate to get the Southern vote. No way his rich yankee ass was going to win without it. Trump and Cruz would actually be a good bet. You get the yankee vote, the outsider vote, and the Southern vote.

And I'd rather be VP. Anyone that wants to be in charge otherwise known as responsible for everything hasn't been. "I don't know why LCpl Dipstic was drunk as a loon hanging off the flagpole, sir. Further, I can't tell you why stole pyro and fired it all over the major metropolis of 29 Palms, CA like no one would see the crap in the middle of the desert." He woke up all 3 Barney Fife's in that burg. And I'm trying to explain to my LT at 3AM why I was home trying to play with my daughter instead of babysit HIS damned immature kids?

No thanks. Job's all yours.

The "they all suck" mantra is what people like to say when they can't make a decision or aren't self-confident enough to state what they think is important. If that's your best opinion regarding the Presidential election right now, then I have no doubt you will be voting third party in November, or more likely not voting at all. Maybe that's for the best, I suppose.
