"When it comes to traditional sources of animal protein — cows, chickens, and pigs — many scientists (http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/13/4605528/your-meat-addiction-is-destroying-the-planet-but-we-can-fix-it) and environmentalists agree that our current meat production system is not sustainable. By 2050, the global demand for meat will double as the world population grows rapidly. The farming necessary for the current meat output is already considered by many to be environmentally devastating, so doubling that could potentially lead to catastrophe.
The production of beef (http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/13/4605528/your-meat-addiction-is-destroying-the-planet-but-we-can-fix-it) is particularly costly to the environment."

If you go to France, crickets and snails are delicacies. In Japan, they love octopus and eels.

I ate some chocolate covered crickets last year. Wasn't that bad. Wasn't that good either.

Gabs they eat those here in the states as well, well not sure about the crickets but snails, eels and octopus are eaten by many everyday here in the states. Snails eels and Octopus plus squid is on many Italian dinner tables on Christmas eve, where they eat nothing but seafood until midnight and then bring out the meat.

I will say as far as the crickets go, I once ate one for money, I took a collection in the lunch room in HS and ate one, it wasn't very tasty from what I remember but it paid well, I see that Andrew Zimmerman eating them all the time as he travels the world, just the thought of him chewing them up kind of turns me off. The dude is nasty, and you have to watch and listen to him eat.

Again we have situation where people are trying to claim --to many people not enough of XYZ--.

we all know the rich will eat whatever they want. they'll never be low on Beef, veal, chicken, turkey, buffalo, seal, rabbit, pheasant, quail, venison, or any fish.

As with all problems like this it comes to creative thinking and various breakthroughs and probably people becoming less URBAN and more agrarian again. But a agenda 21 is AGAINST that plan.

a family or a neighborhood can grow tons of food a year in most places with various techniques. and maintain many small animals. Small preserves can maintain certain wild animals that can be culled for the local population and traded outside of various areas.

As far as crickets go, well they have been a part of the food supply in many cultures but it shouldn't be because we're NOT able to ...in a healthily way.. produce enough animals. the big corporate farms may have to CHANGE- need to change to-- smaller better practices, They may not be able to provide what requested for the world. but who said they should be the only source?
