(1) IF you were not (and could not) living in the USA, where would you want to live?
I would choose Finland, my birthplace.

I learned my lesson, my ass needs to see land or I don't go out anymore. Last time was 30 miles out, my balls almost fell off (long story), I almost puked and the waves were 2x as high as the boat.

That's a tough question. It's too socialist for me to land in Europe... and I'm so acclimated to AK's climate that anything over 80 kills me.
I guess Canada.

Well, it sounds to me like you've got a better handle than the rest of Europe considering the stories of the flood of immigrants trying to get in. There's something to be said for that Channel.

The ones that entered legally in the past year is I think 636,000 people, considering our population is 61 million that is a ridiculous amount of extra people. That does not take into account the illegals which are trying to break in to our ports, while the media tells us they are 'refugees' while they loot and steal and then go off and access their smart phones.

But if I absolutely HAD to live elsewhere, maybe Scotland. Or Bermuda.

I know the US is a large place but don't you get sick of the same culture/people/language? Have you been out of America on a vacation/holiday if you don't mind saying?

You can figuratively drive across the road here and get a different culture. The Appalachian people speak some sort of English gibberish that even I can't understand always. And they have a different culture. Cincinnati, which is just 90 miles north of here, is a totally different world than is Lexington.
And if you go farther north, you run into some really strange types. (No offense, Jim :) )

Yes but you all know you are american no matter how different your cultures are. Granted there are a whole variety of different cities and environments in the US but don't you want to go further? For most Americans Hawaii is the furthest since it is the furthest state away from the mainland. Why do a lot of Americans feel a need to stay within the states when they think of going on holiday? Are they concerned about something happening if they leave or the prices?

You consider net population change due to immigration of 0.5% to be ridiculous?

America is so big that it takes a lifetime of vacations to see it all. I suppose it is different in Europe in that other countries are fairly close by. Here one has to fly to see European countries. I am in the center of the USA, so even to go to Canada or Mexico takes an airplane ride. Gunny lives in Texas so Mexico is fairly close.

Don't look at the waves. Oh, and they invented dramamine for a reason. You just have to start taking it 24 hours in advance. Once you're sick and chumming, nothing's going to save you.

2. Just went to Italy and Spain in May. Had previously been to England, Bermuda, and the Bahamas

This is not surprising when you look into the way in which the Sweedish legal system operates, collates meta-data, and how the system itself is viewed by its citizens. Obviously this is not the topic for it, but thowing out a claims like this is poor form.

A lot of streets in central towns and cities were designed to be for horse and cart. Times have changed obviously but you can't go tearing down 500 or 1000 year old buildings to start putting up 5 lane roads.;)
