Every time I open my door, a fly comes in. They don't do that in the winter because it is colder outside than inside.

Fly swatter. It's good 'ol fun to kill them bastards one by one. I find it a challenge, and hunt them and kill them. Leave out little treats to attract them to a specific area...

Speaking of the disgusting vermin:

We had a bit of a fly problem at my USO volunteer gig yesterday. Someone on the shift before attempted to address it with bowls of white vinegar in the kitchen.

I was mystified by the choice, because I'd always heard the saying, "You can catch more files with honey than vinegar".

And right there in the cabinet was a jar of honey, sitting unused.

In my 6 hours there, I did not see a single dead fly.

Perhaps that person was dyslexic. :laugh2:

There is such a thing as a fly shooter. It shoots salt at flies

I have to agree with you on flies, they are dirty and nasty, and I am not sure how true but the old story of they use the bathroom everywhere they land, well that was enough for me.

I had moved out from my EX and was renting a little trailer out in the boonies, there where chicken house just across the woods ( I didn't know this when I moved in ) well one Thanksgiving the flies where so bad (I found out later they had had the birds picked up the day before) that as the woman and I were cooking dinner I decided to go and picked up those fly strips ( I think it was 4 to a pack ) anyway it became a game, we counted how many flies could be caught the quickest. I believe the one strip had like 250 flies in under 2 minutes, they where disgusting. We had no choice to open the windows as with the oven going and all the burners made the little room we had hot, and although in SC it is usually warmer then it was it was rather cool that year. So to make a long story short, we ate dinner that night watching the flies steadily fly straight into the strip, I guess you could say it was our dinner entertainment.
