Well, now, this might be fun .. !!

I'm now sharing my time with a British forum, one that's the rough equivalent of this one (sometimes very rough ..).

So anyway, I've just come across a post in which one of my fellow Brits says .. I quote .. 'Given that the Yanks refer to our capital as Londonistan'.

I said in reply that I'd check that out on the forum I post to in America ... so, this is me doing just that ....

... and if the reply or replies I get back say 'Yes, we do' ... by all means, tell me why ...

' .. sock it to me ..' .....

I havent heard the term.

Thanks for that.

For what it's worth .. the context of the British thread this came from, is one concerned with discussing the British drone strike we launched against two 'British' terrorists that went to Syria to fight for ISIS. This is the BBC's story on it ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34178998

Two British Islamic State jihadists who died in Syria were killed by an RAF drone strike, David Cameron has said.

Cardiff-born Reyaad Khan, 21, and Ruhul Amin, from Aberdeen, died last month in Raqqa, alongside another fighter, in the first targeted UK drone attack on a British citizen, Mr Cameron told MPs.

Khan - the target - had been plotting "barbaric" attacks on UK soil, he said.

The "act of self defence" was lawful, despite MPs previously ruling out UK military action in Syria, the PM said.

Khan was killed in a precision strike on 21 August by a remotely piloted aircraft, "after meticulous planning", while he was travelling in a vehicle.

Yep, I've heard of that quite a few times here in AK. That region is kind of infamous for the congregated muzzies.

Drummond, your forum has gotten some strange people there. Remember how they hated me???

Lol, people hating me.... that's funny.

But no, I have never heard the term Londonistan. As of today, would it be an accurate term?

Yes, I know. They're called 'The British' ...

Remember how they hated me???

It's rather hard to forget, Perianne !! A clash of cultures, unfortunately, combined with a certain small, closed-mindedness of attitude and worldview.

I'm sorry to say it, but if I 'speak as I find' ... well, many Brits see your countrymens' interest in and willingness to own guns as evidence of an 'uncivilised' culture'. Much the same goes for your resistance to socialised healthcare, such as our own NHS. The British will never understand any of that, I'm afraid.

Downright peculiar, Perianne .. !!!

It's getting there, certainly in parts, I'm sorry to say. Mayfair, Chelsea, no. Barking, Tottenham, Brixton ..... seems a reasonable tag ..

Some cities do change their names. There was a move a few years ago to change the name of my city, Lexington.

42% did not want the name to change.
37% wanted to change the name to Periville.
20% wanted to change the name to Periton.

:)

Well, he's hardly my 'pal'.

But he's posted in reply to me. Apparently, according to him, if I get replies which indicate no knowledge of the term, it must be because the contributor base isn't 'wide enough' (in other words, he'll not permit anything to challenge his accusation ..).

Will this do .. ?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perivale

Perivale is a suburb in the London Borough of Ealing, 9.5 miles (15.3 km) west of Charing Cross, central London. Landmarks in the suburb include the large Art Deco Hoover Building, as well as St Mary's Church (C:12th century), the River Brent and Perivale Wood Local Nature Reserve run by the Selborne Society.

Perivale is an ancient parish in the historic county of Middlesex. It formed part of Greenford Urban District from 1894 to 1926, and was then absorbed by the Municipal Borough of Ealing. Before the residential building expansion of the 1930s, the fields of Perivale were used to grow hay for the working horses of Victorian London, a scene described in the ending of John Betjeman's poem 'Return to Ealing':

"...And a gentle gale from Perivale/blows up the hayfield scent."

Their perception of Americans is based on what they see in the movies, on the telly and in the leftist lamestream media ....which is, coincidentally, all anti-American. Is it any wonder that they think we are ALL a bunch of vulgar, loud-mouthed, gun-totin hooligans? And of course, the leftists among them that DO know better would never admit it (the truth) because....well....

because they're leftists....lol.

Most americans still think London is normal and european. Sorry, times have changed. Most people in London are not British and we are soon to have a muslim mayor to top it off in the city.

Does Belfast have the same problem? I'm all for working with Muslims, but they can stay in their own countries and work via VPN (Virtual Private Network).

London is 20 year+ ahead of Belfast, in Belfast muslim ghettos/mosques are just starting to pop up but it has no immediate problems in terms of muslim grooming gangs and terrorism/extremism.

For that: BLAME SINN FEIN!

It was true then; it's true now! I'm not connected to the UK, just a longtime admirer of the 1970s version of Ian Paisley, Sr.

If you know anything about Irish Politics you'd know that Sinn Fein was one of the three parties that brokered the peace in Northern Ireland that culminated with the Easter Accords in 1998.

From the NY TIMES Article:

Few thought peace was possible when talks began in September 1996. It came about because the vast majority of Northern Ireland's citizens were sick of violence, and leaders on all sides had the good sense to listen. The leaders were a fortuitously courageous and pragmatic group, especially the Sinn Fein leader, Gerry Adams, who brought the fractious Republican movement to the negotiating table. David Trimble, the leader of the largest Protestant party, in the end defied Protestant demagogues and went along with the proposal. Some of the strongest of the Protestant voices advocating peace were men who themselves had served prison time for murders and other violent criminal acts.
Tony Blair, the British Prime Minister, injected new energy into the talks after his election last year, and courageously discarded Britain's longstanding reluctance to deal with Mr. Adams. President Clinton intervened at crucial moments, including the final night of negotiations, to encourage compromise. The whole enterprise was held together by former Senator George Mitchell, who headed the talks with admirable patience and a keen instinct for finding common ground.

Your lack of knowledge is amazing... Had you Smashed Sinn Fein the Catholics and Protestants would still be at war.

Ian Paisley was an Idiot. He'd have had the Ulster Unionists killing Catholics to this day. He was a religious Zealot and he opposed peace at every turn. Even voicing opposition to the Easter Accords that started in 1996 and ended with peace in 1998.

Paisley finally relented in 2006 with the St. Andrews Agreement and began to work with Sinn Fein to form a Unity Government.

So what else do you need to know except that Paisley was a Zealot, a Bigot and an opponent to peace right up until he had no alternative but to accept it or lose power. It

I guess we can see why you admire him.... He wanted to persecute Catholic Republicans right up until he had no other choice but to work with them.

Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness (Sinn Fein) did far more for peace and Prosperity than paisley ever did...

But you knew that... right?

Sinn Fein... Tógáil Éire an Chomhionannais !!
