The kid is a science geek. His family has been here 30 years. He wears a freakin NASA Tshirt. We NEED kids to be science and math nerds. The schools are turning out dummies and we ARREST a kid who has a working brain?! There are some days I seriously wish the zombie apocalypse would just come already.

It's not like Muslims are not known for bombing things. Perhaps the school overreacted some, but only some. The kid's name is Ahmed Mohamed. Typical name for a suicide bomber.

Got no problem with that. The part that gets me is we DON'T check out the ones that are unhinged because no one wants to profile or call names. They bring an arsenal to school and open fire. But some little nerd gets arrested for being a geek.

But there's nothing wrong HERE ....

How about overreacting in the right direction? EVERY school shooting we've had has been done by people with openly obvious problems that no one wants to call a problem.

Flight 93 was headed for the White House. Who wants to hit the Capitol? Nobody's in it but tourists. They're always on a taxpayer paid vacation. I've been to the Capitol countless times in my life and there's never been anyone in it that's supposed to be there.

If Ahmed had indeed had a bomb, then everyone on here would be going crazy about how all the signs were there and no one cared because of political correctness. He brought the clock in for his science class to show his science teacher. I would think that the science teacher would have intervened and straightened everyone out concerning this project.

And don't forget that this could have been a practice run to see if he really could get away with bringing a bomb to school. Muslims are known for doing that type of thing.

So on Sunday night, he quickly put together a homemade digital clock: “Just something small,” as he casually put it to the Dallas Morning News (http://www.dallasnews.com/news/community-news/northwest-dallas-county/headlines/20150915-irving-ninth-grader-arrested-after-taking-homemade-clock-to-school.ece) — a circuit board and power supply connected to a digital display. He proudly offered it to his engineering teacher the next day.

But the teacher looked wary.

“He was like, ‘That’s really nice,’ ” Mohamed told the newspaper (http://www.dallasnews.com/news/community-news/northwest-dallas-county/headlines/20150915-irving-ninth-grader-arrested-after-taking-homemade-clock-to-school.ece). “ ‘I would advise you not to show any other teachers.’ ”
https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp-content/uploads/sites/21/2015/09/Irvingdevice.jpg&w=1484

During English class, the clock beeped, annoying his teacher. When he brought the device up to her afterward, she told him “it looks like a bomb,” according to Mohamed.

“I told her, ‘It doesn’t look like a bomb to me,’ ” he told the Morning News.

But the English teacher kept the clock, and during sixth period, Mohamed was pulled out of class by a police officer and the principal, who, the teen said, urged him to sign a written statement or he would be expelled. They took him to a room where four other officers were waiting. When he entered, one officer leaned back in his chair and said, “That’s who I thought it was,” Mohamed told MSNBC (http://on.msnbc.com/1iQma5w).

“They interrogated me and searched through my stuff and took my tablet and my invention,” Mohamed said. “They were like, ‘So you tried to make a bomb?’ I told them no, I was trying to make a clock.”

I'll tell you right now, you shit-talking assholes from the internet have no idea who and what you're dealing with. We weren't trained to play. You think I'm going to sit around and wait for your PC ass to try and explain away how my kid got killed? By some jackass Arab YOUR dumbass shit let into this country? Because you don't want to profile the poor little Arab assholes that'll do anything to take a cheap shot? They're f-ing cowards and you want to defend them. I'm good at history and can't remember the last time they were in a man-up battle. They like to burn women and children. They attack our school children. And people that think like YOU let them come here.

There's NO mercy here. None.

We've had kids design rockets, home made laptops and even mines and no one had a problem with bringing them to school. Guess none of them were Muslims.

Let's face it. If the Anglo son of a Marine had brought the exact same item to school and the school had seized it, Fox News would still be camped out there complaining. And some of you would be near death from apoplexy.

the NORWAY shooter. Anders Breivik had some neo-facist-racial purity ideals.
so he shot white norwegian teens mostly.
killed 77 people. more than 30 of them were between 18 and 14 yrs old
but he didn't kill himself ether so NOT a suicide bomber.

But please notice, his hair is just tinted blondish.

Adam Lanza, killed 26 people at Sandy hook , mostly 1st grade children.
his eye are sorta blue or grey but look at his hair.
Need to say more?!!!

The above killers are among the top mass killers of kids in school/camp/daycare in the US.
So should we all be careful of these brown/sandy haired, brown eyed white people? ...with white names?
OF COURSE! "Geez, this is sooooo obvious to all who wants to see."
it'd just be PC not to. I'm just telling the truth here, even if others are afraid to be really real about it.

Does looking at those mass child killers above make you mis-trust millions of white people with guns Gunny? Or former military?
I suspect the answer is no.

FEARFUL reactions by officials and the gen public of groups/races without ANY OTHER factors that gives anyone REASONABLE suspicion is STUPID.
it's just PARANOID and STUPID.

I'm just telling like it is, not being PC etc.

We all should try to rise above it seems to me.
But sadly fear bypasses reason like nothing else.

Matter of fact, yep, sure does. I don't care if you're green and from Mars. You people that live in grey areas always trip me out. You spend all your time making excuses. I'm assessing threats. I don't let anyone near me I don't know if I can, and I'm watching them like a hawk when they are. If you're within arm's distance of me, better be my GF. My periferal vision is better than my frontal vision and ANYTHING you're thinking about doing can get you knocked the fuck out around me.

I'm EXACTLY what YOUR society trained me to be. And I don't feel lonely in the boat. I'm just another one. You let just the vets from this board take over this ISIS crap we'd be home by Christmas and too bad ISIS wouldn't. They don't celebrate CHristams so they wouldn't be missing anything anyway.

Here's a simple, age-old rule of thumb for you ... if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, shits all over the place like a duck .... it ain't a goat and I'm watching it.

Oh for frack's sake

What ever happened to "See something, say something"?

So the kid was detained? So what?

The school and the police were doing what they are paid to do, "Protect and Serve"!

I don't have a problem with the "idea" of "see something say something". I have a problem when we take COMMON SENSE out of the equation. This kid made a project that his teacher knew about and asked to see. THAT is where this should have ended. The point it was taken too far was when the resource officer called his fellow police to "arrest" the child for bringing something to school his science teacher asked to see.

I have a VERY serious problem with ANY child being detained WITHOUT a parent there. I'm not talking the kid caught red handed stealing or beating someone. This is beyond ridiculous This is just like "zero tolerance" in fact it is a direct result of. we all know that zero tolerance is the same as ZERO THOUGHT.

This should NEVER have made it out of the school, the police were WAY out of line there was NO law broken, there was NO danger to anyone, There was nothing remotely illegal, so why was the CHILD transported to juvenile detention?? The line was crossed and it should NEVER have happened. If this happened to my child I would be in jail for beating the STUPID out of some really STUPID people starting with the dumb ass cop that placed him in handcuffs when NO LAW WAS BROKEN!!!!!

I wouldn't defend it. It's indefensible.

When you get down to it, this all boils down to a 'Let's be as complacent as we can, when we can' approach.

I suggest that, where terrorism's concerned, there is NO SUCH THING as too much alertness to any possibility of terrorism. I'd really like to know why the Left insist upon trying to put us to sleep on this matter.

There's no terrorism here, there's fear and irrational behavior. And you're feeding it.

We can now add Timothy Mcveigh, Anders Breivik, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, and Adam Lanza to Ahmed Mohamed as the names of people we should be suspicious of.

Talk about you missing the point. The only person in that list that didn't kill anyone is the Muslim one.

I didn't say "every Muslim", did I? I didn't mention a religion at all. Think I mentioned a culture. If you insist however, the rules of that culture come from? .... their religion.

No you didn't but it's implicit in your post when you reply to one that references Muslim middle-school kids and any Muslim carrying a cell phone. And quite honestly I'm surprised at your response given that you have in the past been one to place blame on the actual perpetrators of terrorism.

It is NOT implicit. I don't blame a belief. I blame the people that misuse it. Fred Phelps was one of the most vile, disgusting people I ever have seen and he called himself a Baptist. I am baptist and I was never taught that vile crap he spewed. He was about as Baptist as Ghengis Khan.

Look at the "Planned Parenthood". They sell body parts of humans that according to them ain't human in the name of something else. Smoke n mirrors don't work on me. People using religion as an excuse is as old as dirt; yet, no one wants to see past that obvious part.

I said "Arabs". I don't like them, can smell them from a mile away. I don't like the way they live, nor anything about them. But I know how their goofy little minds work. Was my job to know it. Call it what you will. I'll man up. They're disgusting little assholes that treat their women like shit and train their children to hate us and blame it on religion.

The fact is, these people are making money off of hate, and stupid ideoligists that believe their crap. If the hate is gone, they have to get a real job.

So, your assumption about what I think is wrong. I blame the sheeple that follow in the name of a religion like I blame anyone that voted for Obama. If stupid, blind idiots is a religion, then you nailed me.

well look, I started the thread about "a few people in positions of authority who overreacted to the possibility of a weapon." But i also suspected that a few people might see the kid as a dangerous muslim. so i added the pop tart kid reference in the hope that the knee jerk anti-muslim feelings wouldn't overwhelm some people's common sense on this story.

but here we are.

Anyway here's National Reviews take on it

...It’s about a few people in positions of authority who overreacted to the possibility of a weapon. Which, as it happens, is a too-frequent occurrence all over the country, regardless of the color of your skin.
•In Maryland, there was the seven-year-old Maryland boy who bit a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun (suspended),
•the five-year-old with a bright red cap gun (suspended),
•the three six-year-old boys suspended for making “finger guns” during a game of cops and robbers (suspended),
•and the eleven-year-old who said the word “gun” on a school bus (suspended).
•There was an eight-year-old finger-gun wielder in Florida (suspended), and a ten-year-old sharpshooter in Ohio (suspended).
•There was the 12-year-old keychain-gunslinger in Rhode Island (suspended).
•There were the two Virginia seventh-graders who were playing with airsoft guns at one of the student’s homes (suspended).
•There was the five-year-old Pennsylvania girl who took aim at classmates with a Hello Kitty “bubble gun.” Suspended (for making – and I quote – “terroristic threats”).
•There was the 16-year-old South Carolina student who wrote, in response to a prompt, “I killed my neighbor’s pet dinosaur. I bought the gun to take care of the business.” Suspended.
•And there was the 14-year-old West Virginia student who wore a NRA t-shirt to school. Suspended and arrested.....

they think the story shouldn't be couched in the islamophobia. I agree. but it's some folks on the right that are bringing the phobia in front and center. as much as those on the left making the accusations.

I don't know if the school idiots made a "muslim" connection or not.
either way it was stupid and just a bit worse if it was because he's muslim.

Obama is an idiot for playing into this. but what's new. And just as the NRA used the pop tart boy as a PR vehicle. Obama's using Ahmed for a PR. while he hypocritically kills muslim children as acceptable collateral damage in signature drone strikes all over the M.E..

How many days has he been suspended, or was he expelled? The main harm was done to COMMON SENSE!! and the harm done to freedom. This was taken WAY TOO far for my liking. All that needed to happen was a simple conversation and that it is. The HARM occurred when these IDIOTS decided to handcuff a child and take him to juvenile detention with NO CRIME BEING COMMITTED!! Sorry to disagree with you on this Jim but you know damn good and well you would be PISSED if they did that to your son. We have no idea how this affected him emotionally, I know if I was arrested at 14 I would be a wreck.

The other harm being committed by this is how Obama decided to cause MORE divisive issues by inviting the child to the White House. The only reason for that is to continue to fan the flames of racism and divisiveness...

If Ahmed had indeed had a bomb, then everyone on here would be going crazy about how all the signs were there and no one cared because of political correctness. Maybe it is racial profiling, but I don't care. When blue-eyed blondes start becoming suicide bombers, then they can profile me....and I will willingly accept.

Geez, this is sooooo obvious to all who wants to see.

Except he doesn't fit the profile. The profile is 25-35 year old males (He's in high school, so no), with strong fundamentalist beliefs (Um, again, no evidence of this, and he's clearly a fan of NASA), tends to be a loner (Entire situation started by him actively engaging with other people, and being generally proud of being a nerd), problems with US policy (Again, dreams of being with NASA, though I imagine he may develop an issue with the school after this.).

He fits exactly one part of the profile: He's Muslim. That's it. I'm sorry, but that IS racist, it's not profiling, it's racist. Using that as grounds actually pulls away from sensing actual threats, because when you're watching everyone, there is no capacity to catch details. You have to edit some things out, or else you miss vitally important details that you could've gotten had you gotten rid of factors unlikely to be a problem.

And here's the thing: Why didn't they just confirm that it was clock, and release him? I can sort of understand if there was whispers of a bomb threat, checking the lead... but that's not what they did. What they DID was treat it completely as a bomb, but not enough to call in anyone from the bomb squad (Who could've stood down this whole thing with a single bomb dog. So what, 30 seconds?). When he repeatedly told them it was just a clock (Quick tip: Bomb clocks count DOWN, not UP), this did nothing to change how they approached things, and they just started saying it was a bomb hoax on his part, even though he'd never said anything about it being a bomb, just that it was a clock.

The four planes were piloted by radicals who used the planes as suicide bombs. They were a radical faction. I believe that qualifies as a suicide attack.

You can very technically label it that, but it puts all the focus on the sacrifice of the creep who happened to die, rather than the thousands of innocent people he executed. I prefer the term terrorist/mass murderer.

Suicide bombing did not start with Islamic terrorists. Japan used it very effectively in WWII.
My great aunt felt the bombing of Dresden was a mass murder carried out by the Allies.

Three things come to mind; first: you have to be a clueless brain dead media tard to believe this device looked ANYTHING like a clock; second: you have to be a low information dunce to be unaware of school "zero tolerance" rules; and lastly: you have to be naive to EVER buy into any media narrative designed to impugn Americans as being intolerant racists.

By the way, how many gun loving, intolerant Muslim hating Republicans are in our educational system? Let me answer that for you; NONE. These were most likely Democratic voters engaging in this PRESUMED intolerant Muslim bashing.

Carry on.

P.S. My 8 year old was suspended from school when a friend told his teacher he had a shiny fake toy ray gun in his back pack back. It didn't even remotely resemble anything real.

It goes back to the common sense thing. Your name is Timothy McVeigh and you come order a butt load of fertilizer, I'm going to want to know where your 10k acre ranch is. In this particular case, I think the response was heavy-handed. It's the PEOPLE, NOT the tools they use. Otherwise, we better outlaw pencils because I can put one through your brain.

I blame the teacher in this one, for one reason: he doesn't know his own shit. If you're a teacher requiring a project, you better be up to snuff on projects. He also should know his students. Those components can do a LOT of things.

I'm just not sure where we draw the line. I know EOD guys that could put you off the map with a cell as a remote. On the other hand, this PC crap where you aren't allowed to call a whack job a whack job is BS. Do we outlaw cell phones? Then you can blame those on the right for reacting to their crap. It takes TWO to dance.

Seeing as the clock counts up not down, and importantly, THERE IS NO EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL, yes. It's a clock, built to impress his teacher.

Rule 1 of making a bomb: Have something in it that explodes somehow.

Seeing as it fails that test, and the boy directly showed the teacher, including how it works, it's pretty straight forward.

I missed your question. As a matter of fact, it does. But, I'm an electrician, not a school teacher. Lord help the left if they ever make one of those. You can find those components in every pole light in every parking lot in the US. They are benign pieces of electrical parts that mean nothing unless specifically designed to do harm. My dad had me building radios by the time I was about 8.

Again, I think the teacher overreacted and a lot of it was his lack of knowledge. Common sense part: don't have kids making projects you don't understand.

If it had been a white kid (vs. a Muslim one) that constructed that "clock" and toted it to school....there is no way in Hell he would have then been invited to the White House by King Barry. I totally agree. No argument on that one. You need to find the thread where I'd try His Wonderful Kingship for treason. His bias would be the least of his problems with me. He'd be too busy trying to get out of acts that are not only detrimental to the US, but harmful to us.

I'll admit that's a better answer than the rampant speculation that I had in my mind. But yes, it looks like a clock built by a student. 20 pounds of C4 underneath would look like a bomb. Are you under the impression that all bombs in real life have big timers so that potential defusers know exactly how much time before bomb go bang?

Holy crap! 20 pounds? You looking to take a couple of city blocks, or what?

Fact is. most timers are electronic nowadays. A toss-away cell is usually the best bet. I can see BOTH sides of this.

We've had enough. Those of us that fight don't want to play with this cowardly, back-stabbing crap. You strap a bomb to yourself and blow innocent people up, you're a coward. Buy a sword and walk out on the battlefield like a man. I GUARANTEE a line to get at your ass.

But WHERE is the line? And when do people that think like you man up? Bust a kid with a radio, you're wrong. Don't bust a kid with a bomb (a couple of ounces will do, Mr Overkill:laugh:) and you're wrong. We've quit doing what is right trying to do what is perfect.

I'm looking at the kid's shit, period. Difference is, I know what I'm looking at. THAT is my whole point. Want to be a teacher? Don't have children building crap you can't understand. You're supposed to be the teacher, not the student.

Now it's time to play "What's behind Door 1 or 2?" Some kid gets rousted by the cops or YOUR kid comes home in a bodybag? You bring MY kid home in a bodybag you ain't invented enough police protection. There won't be no damned trial.

BUT ... why is it cops can roust whites and do whatever they want and no one says a word, but the second you roust a black or an Arab you get an invite from the Nigger in Chief? And you think the law is FAIR? You live in your own little fairy tale, FJ. Seriously.

Yes, in my fairy tale world kids don't get treated the way he was treated for a clock; a school project. What was displayed here was not common sense it was the exact opposite. It sounds like you want the law to treat everyone fairly but then it seems you've supported this action.

No. I understand the action. If you look, I asked the question where to draw the line. You aren't thinking past the basics.

IF that kid had blown up half the school we'd be listening to the left blaming the cops, the right and anyone else for allowing it to happen. Wouldn't hear the end of it until the next drama. Probably some black kid getting arrested.

So he got questioned? Big deal.

I go back to the teacher. Don't be the teacher and give students something to do if you ain't got a clue. Looks like a science project. If you teach science and can't figure out simple electrical components your ass needs to move to Driver's Ed.

Because guess what's missing in the picture here? ANYTHING explosive. You think that little capacitor is going to be a major threat? Maybe if you stick your tongue on it. All it does is build up energy for a charge. There is NOTHING in that device that indicates any kind of external an/or electronic wiring. You have to have one or the other to detonate an explosive device. But I know what I'm looking at. Maybe Mr Science Teacher needs to take another class or stick to Playdoh?

I suspect that it was a set-up from the git-go my friend. What he built looked less like a clock and more like a timer for explosives to me...
These muslims know how to work schemes to get us cowered into inaction.
And thats exactly how the bamboy, the media and the muzzie organizations here are playing this!

They now have it were you can not even bring a butter-knife, spoon or fingernail file to school but now cry out if you see something that resembles part of a bomb you must consider the muslims tender feelings!!
Thats liberal insanity--the ffing scum have no tender feelings , they are taught that we are to die!--Tyr

It actually doesn't look like anything to me but a pile of junk. And again, I know what I'm looking at. If it's a setup, it worked. Got an invite to the New Mecca aka White House.

The kid KNEW it was going to be suspicious, but then acts surprised when it draws suspicion.

It was a decent idea, and the planning was horrid. To bring something like this ANYWHERE will draw suspicion. Imagine putting it in your suitcase and it goes through the TSA scanners? I imagine he would have met some resistance there as well.

It wouldn't be much different than an adult bringing a dead grenade somewhere, and then acting surprised when the authorities treat it like a potential bomb anyway.

U.S. School acting stupid story #4899.72b n counting:

Young Muslim high school kid who's into inventions made a clock brought it to school showed the teacher and
as we'd guess
the School FREAKED!
LEOs interrogate without parents, search home and take computers, kid taken to juvie and interrogated more until the parents showed up.
US. gov't winning hearts and minds of the young in the U.S..

Since a kindergardeners are interrogated over a pop tarts that kid is blessed that he wasn't shot.

In case anyone is interested....

I came across this pic of a shoe bomb (remember those?). It looks much less threatening that this kid's so-called invention of a "clock" (which, actually....when the truth is known...is more a case of him disassembling a real clock and reassembling the pieces into a box/case and calling it "his invention").

These Muslim putzes are creative (even if some are using others' technology and innovations as their own)....you have to give them credit for that. Which is exactly WHY we have to be more creative re: finding ways to stop them dead (no pun intended....literally speaking) in their tracks.

Possibly. Trying to consider the times. When I was kid, you brought something like that into class and you were a certified genius. Today's day and age, a little common sense might work.

I agree, but back when we were in school - that was prior to 9/11 and so many other types of terror attacks around the world, along with all the attacks on schools. What they need to cut out is the pop tart guns type of crap, and t-shirts, now THAT stuff is a waste of time.

Everyone is concerned about safety, but yet the things that are being done are t-shirts and pop tarts - and then people get angry when they are concerned about what actually does look like a potential bomb.

Now the next kid that does want to bring harm, and knows how to do this shit, will make a similar bomb, knowing that folks will be too scared to dare question a kid with one.

I don't know what the answer to the overkill is, the fact that it went from protecting safety to him actually being taken away. I have NO issue with them calling in the police or other authorities, but I'm curious as to why it went from them coming to investigate, to the kid being led away. THAT is the part that I question, and I really don't have answers to. But the school being concerned and calling police? No issues.

What I don't like is Clown in Chief politicizing it. He goes out of his way to attack Americans. And I'm getting sick of it.

I see BOTH sides of the argument as far as the kid is concerned. You ain't doing shit with an analog clock without some wire and a fuze. Blow up your own hand maybe. An analog clock on its own ain't doing crap but ticking. If he's going to blow something up, he might want want to pull his head out of the 1970s.

And this just a misdirection play by Obama. Republicans are in the news and Hillary's getting her ass hammered. So let's make a big deal out of something that doesn't matter as a deflection. I could give a rat's ass about this kid or his project. But THIS is not a big deal. It's all designed to take your eyes off the prize.

But it does provide the CAIR people (and the PC crowd) with endless agitation and division.

It's ALWAYS about division. The knuckleheads keep everyone distracted over some BS excuse while they suck down our tax dollars. This whole thing .. actually, the issue being made of it ... is just a distraction. Obama wasn't getting enough attention for his needy ass. So he has to make some kid's clock about him.

I recall a 5 year old being suspended for kissing another 5 year old on the school playground. But this is an over-reaction?

Guess it depends on who you are and how old you are. 5 years olds smooching each other in my day meant just about nothing. It was just innocent stuff. A peck on the cheek was getting away with murder. But kids do crap now I never even dreamed of at 7 years old. Hell, I thought getting away with a smooch when I was 14 was condemning myself to the lake of fire. They're full-fledged drug dealers by 10 now. I was playing with GI Joe and Hot Wheels cars when I was 10 and girls were almost as annoying as my little brother.

Times have changed. While we might not get it (I don't), we DO have to deal with it. I don't blame the teacher nor the cops. And yes, like anyone else, I DO assume. I know what I'm looking at and what it can't do. I suspect the English teacher isn't up to snuff on electrical components. Not exactly their bag.

The brat being defiant caused the problem. All he had to do was explain his crap and I bet it would have ended there. He decided to play hardass with authority instead. And for Obama to applaud him for disrespect for authority? THAT is our President?

Yep, and that's the truth. Teacher thought she saw threat, reported to principal as told to do. Principal called police as is supposed to do. They are NOT bomb squads. Apparently the kid tried to cheat on his "invention", and of course made it look like a bomb. It then got treated as such.

Next time the Muslims (or anyone) attack us, will this PC bullshit diminish at all? Will cops then be able to do their jobs without second guessing themselves?
