The ball of my feet have been hurting, or more like just my right foot mainly. I tried the Dr. Scholl's crap but at CVS they only offered all the gel and massaging crap. This time I went with "Powerstep", the pinnacle series. It's designed for the entire foot. Anyway, and it does warn you in the instructions - these have awesome arch support, nothing anything else I wear offers. And it HURTS at first. They say to wear it a few hours each day until your foot adjusts, and then you're good to go from there. Supposedly designed for the heel, arch & the ball of your foot.

I'm all about the Nike cross trainers. Great support, lightweight and durable.

Due to being diabetic, I have special inserts for the shoes the VA got me.

After I got used to them, I noticed that my feet felt much better :salute:

But I love my boots!! They just hurt since I wear them so much. My Nike's suck. I want a pair of the Air's. I have a few Skechers too. I have a pair of Nike trainers from like 5 years ago or so, but they are a little worn and don't have the arch support, which apparently is what helps the ball of your foot in turn.

That's what it says, that after a few days you should see much improvement. Just feels so weird. But I ask myself - if this is what we are supposed to be doing to protect our feet, then why aren't we? Why have none of the shoes I've ever worn ever had this much arch support? You would think it would be standard if good for your feet!

mm hmmm.

"Timothy McVeigh: I was raised Catholic. I was confirmed Catholic (received the sacrament of confirmation). Through my military years, I sort of lost touch with the religion. I never really picked it up, however I do maintain core beliefs.."

Did he wear shoe insoles and have a problem with the ball of his feet? No? Then I really don't give a crap in this thread.

Chances are good that all of your previous footwear was gotten at a Mall or outlet shop

I know that prior to my latest set, my shoes came from places like sketchers, Payless and yes, Wal Mart.

Now I see a specialist, one who takes the time to measure my feet.

And sets me up with the proper footwear

Well, of course. Online, Foot Locker, Modells and the boots (Bates) came from a local store in town. I have some nice dress shoes too, no support, and one pair is like $300!! Probably why I have pain in the ball of my feet!

Because parents are sticking their kids into shoes before their foot has a chance to truly develop. Ideally, no hard-soled shoes should be worn before age 2 for more than a few hours. Most shoes in general do not allow the foot to use all of its muscles and tissues correctly because they change how you walk and carry yourself.

You're actually going backwards with having so much arch support because with that, you're weakening the muscles of your arches. If they don't get a workout (i.e. going barefoot as often as possible) and are allowed to atrophy, you're just worsening it with more support. Research has even shown that before shoes were invented, people had healthier feet.

The inserts you have, are designed to help you readjust your balance and weight on your feet and realign how the foot is used, but should not be used as a crutch. Much of it has more to do with how you carry yourself on your feet while walking and standing. Also if you do some exercises to help strengthen your arch, you'll notice a difference as well.

For now, I'm using them just to see if it helps the bad pain I was having with the ball of my right foot. It seemed to have taken the pain away, but today there's a little pain back again. I also only have these in my boots. I don't use them when I wear my pairs of sneakers.

Exercise? LOL Would nightly long walks help? Or maybe making a few more trips to the fridge in the evening? :)
