Back in Yogi's day I was a lucky kid to see him and the other great Yankees play many times. I was fortunate to talk to him but more loved just listening to him speak while numerous times sitting in the dugout during batting practice before games. I often think of Yogi when writing as I copied his Y from his autograph and when I write all my Y's are an exact copy of his.

Play ball Yogi, play ball.

Finally a Goodbye from Yogi. He also used to say "It ain't over, till it's over!"

It will never be over for him now.

The Great Diamond and Home Plate are his forever. A long 7th Inning Stretch!

Berra was also a WW2 vet. at Normandy. Trained at Little Creek Base in Norfolk, Virginia, Berra proudly served the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945 when he was just 18. Berra helped soften up German defenses and ran messages from Omaha Beach to Utah Beach. He also participated in a second attack on France, receiving a medal from the French government for his efforts.
