Time for the Dodgers to avenge last season's horrible opening round exit and kick the Mets' butt in the opening round of the NL Division Series.
I am once again taking my dad to the first two games. Because he deserves it.

Nice to see the Yankees choking away their once formidable wild card lead. One more Yanks loss combined with a Sunday win by the Astros forces the Yankees to play the wild card game in Houston. Where I hope they will lose by 10 runs or so. Because the Yankees suck.

This has been a strange baseball season. Who would have thought that...
The Rangers would win the AL West, the Astros finish second and the megabucks Angels miss the playoffs.
The Blue Jays win the AL East and the Yankees take second.
The Cubs and Pirates both make the playoffs.
This is what makes baseball great.

Can I get some hosannas and glory hallelujahs for the fact that the Yankees are dead and buried for another season?
Shut out at home by the Houston Astros.

Life as a baseball fan can be immensely sweet sometimes. :cheers2:

Not that weird. You need a strategy and a team. The Angels and Padres have constantly tried to put together 1 year teams. You ain't going to win in 1 year. A team is not just a collection of people. It's a cohesive unit. THAT is how THAT works. People like you don't understand that for shit. It's why you keep wanting to shove fags into line units.

You got your defense and your pitchers, and hitters. If any of the 3 suck, so does your team. Baseball is just playing chess. All comes down to pitcher vs hitter. And you better have good outfielders, shortstop and second base.

And Who TF is a Dodgers fan? They haven't been shit since the 80s.

One thing you can count on though ... the Rangers, Astros and Cubs will crash and burn themselves.

Trying extra hard to be combative today, Gunny?
I was born and raised as a Dodgers fan. They are quite a successful franchise.
My dad and I will be in Dodger Stadium Friday and Saturday evening. As we often have been in the past. The Dodgers have won 14 division titles and been the wild card team on two other occasions.
Win or lose, we are fans.

Explain "Gunny trying extra hard to be combative". That just doesn't even look right.

I'm aware they are a successful franchise. I'm even old enough to remember when they weren't losers.

Mets vs Dodgers sounds like an Eagles Redskins game. If the Earth opens up and swallows BOTH teams ... who really cares?

Congrats!! I don't know if I really care who wins it all now, with the Dodgers being out. But it would be kinda cool to see the Mets lose it all, in the 7th game, in the bottom of the 9th, with 2 outs, while they are up by 3, and someone hits a grand slam to take it all away from them with one swing of the bat. That sure would suck! :)

Actually, it's a weird run, since both the Mets and Cubs are longshots. I mean, seriously, neither one has that stellar a history, Mets fan as I may be. So some of the fun is going to be seeing which perennial loser wins over the other perennial loser.

So the TV networks have done it to us fans yet again. Here we are in the middle of the week and I was up till after 0100. Good thing it's a vacation week. The news is quoting their huge ratings but what about the walking dead fans who have to function. The darned playoff games should start earlier. Pity the family whose school age kids are baseball fans. But the networks will point to the ratings and raise their advertising rates and we will continue to suffer.

I had a patient call out for pain medication a little after 0100. I walked into the room and the patient was watching the baseball game. I could not believe it was still on at that time!

I agree, there are a lot of sleepy kids at school today.

The World Series used to be played in the daytime. I am guessing a lot of kids begged their parents to write them sick notes.

They put up a chart on TV during Tuesday's opening game. It ended up going 14 innings and last 5 hours and 14 minutes.
By contrast, a 1916 World Series game matching the Boston Red Sox and the Brooklyn Robins also went 14 innings. Playing time was 2 hours and 32 minutes. The two starting pitchers, Babe Ruth and Del Gainer, both went the distance.

Shortest World Series game was in 1908, when the Tigers beat the Cubs 2-0. Game time was 1 hour and 25 minutes.
