Which foods are you saving up in case SHTF?

I have dried foods (pasta, dried potatoes) and canned foods (meats, soups). Unfortunately, canned soups tend to have a high sodium content, which tends to make one need more water to balance the sodium content in the body. So that type of thing must be considered if the water supply is low.

I feel the need to buy a lot more stuff to store. I understand that dried fruits will stay good for a long time.

Mountainhouse.com (http://www.mountainhouse.com/) has a good website dedicated to survival.

Any thoughts?

I posted a link to Amazon for a 6-gallon bucket with 330 meals in it for $150, with a shelf life of 20 years in that other thread... I think everyone should consider getting at least one of those.

Thank you. I did follow that link and have it in my box to order.

I keep reading about saving beans and rice in a mylar bag with an oxygen absorber. Has anyone done that or know how to do it?

Don't forget clean water. You would be surprised how much you would need.
