Putin certainly has more balls than Obama. I can, to some extent, understand why he gains more respect.

Welcome to DP, Mr. Putin! :salute:

Why did you shoot down that plane over Ukraine? Are you concentrating only on ISIS over in Syria, or are you up to no good as well? :)
Thanks jimnyc
Got any concrete evidence of that jimnyc,as BUK missile launchers were on both sides of the fence!

Why would Russia want to shoot down a commercial aircraft filled with hundreds of civilians? What would the Russian separatists/Russian Federation gain from shooting it down? Nothing, in fact they would probably lose (propaganda/information war wise)

I can tell you who would gain from having that plane shot down and that would be the Ukrainian government who allowed the commercial airliner to fly over a war zone! They gain because they can blame it on Russia and then increase their international support.

The type of BUK missiles were decommissioned by the Russian Federation years ago, yet they are still used by the Ukrainians but the media here will just repeat RUSSIAN MADE RUSSIAN MADE

Yes Russia correct me if I am wrong is the biggest exporter of weapons in the world?

It's called a mistake. They even played audio not long after it happened, between guys on the ground, and it seemed like they accidentally shot it down.

When you hear things such as this, and Russia released information blaming the Ukraine - how do you know which is telling the truth?

And Fwiw - intercepting audio isn't difficult, not sure why you would think otherwise. Especially if in a war zone. They would all be listening in on one another.

Russia has lied about a shitload. At one point they claimed they were not even in Ukraine, and that was proven a lie not shortly thereafter, even by the USA (which Btw, also stated Russia shot down the plane)

The strongest and greatest military in the world, defending the greatest country in the world. :salute:
Strong but 'strongest' can be disputed. I would not say the greatest. Probably more accurately the ex-greatest.

#1 According to a brand new report that was just released by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (http://www.oecd.org/), the United States has the fattest population in the entire industrialized world by a wide margin.
#2 That same report from the OECD also found that we are number one in child obesity. In fact, at 38 percent (http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/report-u.s-most-obese-fattest-kids-by-a-mile-tops-for-poor-teen-health/article/2573993) our rate of childhood obesity is even higher than our overall rate of obesity.
#3 According to USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/12/10/public-health-obesity-inactivity-state-rankings/20095261/), the obesity rate in the United States has more than doubled over the past 25 years.
#4 The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2014/07/03/21-maps-and-charts-that-prove-america-is-number-one/) has reported that Americans spend an average of 293 minutes a day watching television, which is the most in the world by a wide margin. And as I have discussed previously, more than 90 percent of the “programming” that we absorb is created by just 6 enormously powerful media corporations (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/who-owns-the-media-the-6-monolithic-corporations-that-control-almost-everything-we-watch-hear-and-read).
#5 One study found that the average American spends more than 10 hours a day (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/how-much-time-do-americans-spend-plugged-into-the-matrix-every-day) using some sort of electronic device.
#6 By the time an American child reaches the age of 18, that child will have seen approximately 40,000 murders (http://www.parentstv.org/ptc/publications/reports/stateindustryviolence/main.asp) on television.
#7 The average young American will spend 10,000 hours (http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/these-two-traps-are-absolutely-destroying-the-next-generation-of-young-men-in-america) playing video games before the age of 21.
#8 Out of 22 countries studied by the Educational Testing Service (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/americas-millennials-well-educated-but-unskilled/), Americans were dead last in tech proficiency, dead last in numeracy and only two countries performed worse than us when it came to literacy proficiency.
#9 In more than half of all U.S. states, the highest paid public employee in the state is a football coach (http://deadspin.com/infographic-is-your-states-highest-paid-employee-a-co-489635228).
#10 The percentage of wealth owned by middle class adults is lower in North America (http://www.businessinsider.com/credit-suisse-global-wealth-report-decline-global-middle-class-wealth-2015-10) than it is anywhere else in the world.
#11 Almost half of all Americans (47 percent (http://www.businessinsider.com/half-of-america-doesnt-save-any-money-2015-3)) do not put a single penny out of their paychecks into savings.
#12 It turns out that Americans are very good at locking people away in prison. At 716 per 100,000 members of the population (http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2014/07/03/21-maps-and-charts-that-prove-america-is-number-one/), the United States has the highest incarceration rate on the entire planet by a very wide margin.
#13 Approximately one-fourth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incarceration_in_the_United_States) of the entire global prison population is in the United States.
#14 In 2014, police in the United States killed 1,100 people (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/police-kill-citizens-70-times-rate-first-world-nations/#rBGD2LV7hvVi1tuh.99). During that same year, police in Canada killed14 people (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/police-kill-citizens-70-times-rate-first-world-nations/#rBGD2LV7hvVi1tuh.99), police in China killed 12 people (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/police-kill-citizens-70-times-rate-first-world-nations/#rBGD2LV7hvVi1tuh.99) and police in Germany didn’t kill anyone at all.
#15 One recently published study found that one out of every six young Americans (http://time.com/4069935/thief-study/?xid=homepage) has stolen something during the past year.
#16 There are more car thefts in the United States than anywhere else in the world by far (http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_car_the-crime-car-thefts).
#17 According to Fox News, approximately 70 percent (http://magazine.foxnews.com/love/cheating-statistics-do-men-cheat-more-women) of married men in the United States admit to having cheated on their wives.
#18 Americans spend far more on health care than anyone else in the world, and yet we only rank 26th (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy) in life expectancy and our entire health care system has been transformed into a giant money making scam (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/hospitals-are-blatantly-ripping-us-off).
#19 According to a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic, nearly 70 percent (http://www.mayoclinic.org/news2013-rst/7543.html) of all Americans are on at least one prescription drug, and an astounding 20 percent of all Americans are on at least five prescription drugs.
#20 According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 31 percent (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/31-percent-of-all-food-in-america-is-wasted-and-why-that-is-about-to-end) of all food in the United States gets wasted. In case you were wondering, that amounts to approximately 133 billion pounds of food a year.
#21 In 2013, women earned 60 percent (http://www.npr.org/2014/07/17/326175817/the-modern-american-man-charted) of all bachelor’s degrees that were awarded that year in the United States.
#22 A survey conducted by the Barna Group discovered that 77 percent (http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/america-is-done-only-29-percent-of-americans-want-to-cut-off-funding-for-planned-parenthood) of Christian men in America in the 18 to 30-year-old age bracket view pornography at least monthly.
#23 There are more than 4 million adult websites (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2630438/Pornography-treated-like-drink-driving-teenager-smoking-experts-argue-widespread-U-S-MAJOR-health-crisis.html) on the Internet, and they get more traffic than Netflix, Amazon and Twitter combined.
#24 70 percent (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/study-most-americans-unhappy-at-work/) of Americans do not “feel engaged or inspired at their jobs”.
#25 When LBJ’s “War on Poverty” began, less than 10 percent (http://www.theburningplatform.com/2015/03/22/the-real-reason-the-american-dream-is-unraveling/) of all U.S. children were growing up in single parent households. Today, that number has skyrocketed to 33 percent (http://www.theburningplatform.com/2015/03/22/the-real-reason-the-american-dream-is-unraveling/).
#26 In 1950, less than 5 percent (http://www.theburningplatform.com/2015/03/22/the-real-reason-the-american-dream-is-unraveling/) of all babies in America were born to unmarried parents. Today, that number is over 40 percent (http://www.theburningplatform.com/2015/03/22/the-real-reason-the-american-dream-is-unraveling/).
#27 According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 20 million (http://cnsnews.com/news/article/barbara-hollingsworth/chlamydia-sets-us-record-most-cases-reportable-disease) new cases of sexually-transmitted disease in the United States each year.
#28 Today, the United States has the highest STD infection rate in the entire industrialized world (http://globalgrind.com/news/cdc-says-us-highest-rates-stds-stats-in-world-details).
#29 According to a survey that was just released within the last 30 days, only 29 percent (http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/america-is-done-only-29-percent-of-americans-want-to-cut-off-funding-for-planned-parenthood) of Americans want to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood even after all of the shocking undercover videos that were released this year.
#30 America has the highest rate of illegal drug use (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/01/health/webmd/main4222322.shtml) on the entire planet.
#31 Doctors in the United States write more than 250 million prescriptions (http://www.wnd.com/2014/02/70-million-americans-taking-mind-altering-drugs/) for antidepressants each year.
#32 One survey of 50-year-old men in the U.S. found that only 12 percent (http://www.esquire.com/features/facts-about-men-1010) of them said that they were “very happy”.
#33 Every single year, the United States has the largest trade deficit in the entire world (http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/statistics/historical/gands.pdf) by a very wide margin. But most Americans still don’t seem concerned that thousands of businesses and millions of good jobs have been leaving our country.
#34 As you read this article, there are 102.6 million (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/right-now-there-are-102-6-million-working-age-americans-that-do-not-have-jobs) working age Americans that do not have a job.
#35 We are supposed to have a government “of the people, by the people, for the people”, but only 25 percent (http://www.alternet.org/story/90161/ignorant_america%3A_just_how_stupid_are_we)of all Americans know how long U.S. Senators are elected for (6 years), and only 20 percent (http://www.alternet.org/story/90161/ignorant_america%3A_just_how_stupid_are_we) of all Americans know how many U.S. senators there are in total.
#36 On average, we have been stealing more than 100 million dollars (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/it-is-mathematically-impossible-to-pay-off-all-of-our-debt) from future generations of Americans every single hour of every single day since Barack Obama entered the White House.

People leave their homes for the US for higher welfare and higher wages.

In the 1930's people went to America for freedom from tyranny and a better life.

Honestly? My ass goes to where I will be happiest, not where I would make the most money.

Also, we have folks immigrating here from all over the world. The people immigrating here from around the world - there is no other country that can show the same immigration numbers. And trust me, I'm not bragging, although I know it's because we're a great country. Personally I don't think our country can sustain so many people year after year after year. Oh yeah 100%. The key to ensuring freedom is to have an intelligent and informed public. America has neither.

The elites found out in the late 1800's that people were becoming too informed, they were reading books and understanding the world.

In 1903 the Rockefeller's founded the General Education Board which was to increase control over what was taught within schools to children. Look at how the schooling is the United States today.

Our education system is so backward, not even today's teachers (if we dare call them that) have any notion about our History, or Real life...away from their Twitter, and Facebook accounts where their need to IMPRESS other dummies slows their ability to understand Reality.

You have metal detectors and security guards like prisons in many city schools. I see new videos emerge on liveleak almost everyday of teachers being beaten up by students and fights happening everyday?

Young people have been the most damaged by this. This has happened because of the media and the people who control it. Do they really want an informed and knowledgeable population that is aware of what is going on?

We've got a lot of problems, and most of it, more or less, comes down to one thing: Factionalization. With all of America broken up into our little factional fights, we waste a ton of our time bickering, when we could be making actual repairs.

The factions each have their facts, figures, and such that back them up, but no one seems to be willing to budge. This, in the end, is the fault of our political leaders. They created these factions, and now use them to keep themselves elected, unable to understand the damage they've wrought, even to their own team.

Our nation is founded on Unity, and as such, when we go to bickering with one another, we falter, and begin to fall apart.

This is why we need a President who can start to mend the divide, bring both sides back closer to center.

Tyr-Ziu Saxnot
10-23-2015, 10:23 PM
Many of those facts indicate we have too much freedom.

Most of them indicate the wealth we have(or once did have)....
Crime and stealing highest were the wealth is since it takes having something worth stealing to inspire more stealing. Simple logic-- communist nations very little around to steal and even in Europe under so-called democratic governments same applies--, since socialist there have so affected the level of wealth and standards of living there also..
Currently we have in charge a traitor, a lying bastard, a socialistic /muslim in hiding.
If 2016 election brings in somebody else and the current maggot ever leaves--we may rebound somewhat.-Tyr

People love insulting America. Funny thing though those who do it most choose to continue live here.

America is greatest country to me. They take me, siblings, and parents in and give us opportunity. My parent hard workers and made best of opportunity. Because of America I was lucky and honored to serve in military. Because of America I got to be police officer after service. Because of America I now have good job that pays well and one I love. Because of America my children got good education and college. Because of America I have nice house, food in fridge, and money in bank.

I owe America everything and grateful for what it gave me and happy to be called an American. I have much pride in Mexico and my heritage but America is one who take family in and give us chance to have success. I will never be ungrateful or take what they did for granted. I love my country and always will. There no other country I rather live.

Switzerland truly is the beauty of what a nation state should be.

They are seriously flawed in one particular respect, however. They have a long history - one might even call it a tradition ? - of neutrality.

Consider WWII, and the horrors of the Nazis. Switzerland had no difficulty in maintaining its neutrality throughout that period. I've heard of no regret from Switzerland that it did so, even after the revelations of Nazi inhumanity became fully known to the world.

A country whose people are more unshakeably interested in their own, selfish, day-to-day material comforts than fighting for decent principle and against tyranny .. has to be one that's fundamentally flawed, in my humble opinion !

That WOULD be a fair point to make, were it not for Obama's calculated - apparent - spinelessness on the world stage. Part of what makes a country great is not merely having the potential for greatness, but achieving it, too. Obama is busily downgrading your country's greatness precisely because he wants to reduce America's greatness to a mere remembered potential, rather than show it to be an actual, ongoing, fact of life.

If I recall correctly, Switzerland would be a hard country to invade. If you note, the Nazi's invaded the lowlands where they could run their tanks. Apparently, even Hitler was smart enough to know you need boots on the ground. Unlike a certain current President of the US.

Anywhere the Nazi's had to deal with elevation and/or water, they struggled. Hungary, Greece. Everyone in Switzerland had to do years compulsory service and they all had firearms. Gee, there's that armed citizenship thing again. Who knows what Hitler was thinking? He was doing okay until he decided to invade Russia. Guess he didn't read Napoleon's book.

#36 On average, we have been stealing more than 100 million dollars (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/it-is-mathematically-impossible-to-pay-off-all-of-our-debt) from future generations of Americans every single hour of every single day since Barack Obama entered the White House.

Lol! I couldn't even get past #5 before laughing myself silly at this "report". Soooo....by these idiots' standards....I suppose that the various nations in Africa, for instance, would rate highest on that dubious scale for having the least "obese" kids (more like millions of scrawny and starving kids)....and for not having any (or as many) demonic devices like cell phones, video games and such (much less electricity) to drive their nations' ""ratings"" down. So the USA's technological advances in electronics causes us to rate lower than other nations? Pure asinine idiocy.

A nation is great based on the freedoms that nation provides its citizens....and the choices and chances for success that living in that nation gives its citizens...which still makes America THE greatest nation (despite the best attempts of the Marxist Obama drones like Soros) on the planet....and which explains why millions upon millions of people are still flooding into America....as we speak.

Also....the USA gives more $$$ and aid to struggling nations and to the poor, provides MORE aid to victims of natural disasters around the world, and is always there with our support and our military if and when needed.... with, (unlike Russia), no future gains required from those nations and no ulterior motives (vested interest) in order for us to give our aid.

So basically, this is just ...

BULLSHIT.

Which is it--or they the roadblocks /qrid lock claimed by the traitorous dems or are they advancing all this agenda you just laid claim to?
As you attempt to shift emphasis away from obama's agenda and blame the republicans for not successfully blocking most of it.
If what they have done is so bad for the nation you had best present exactly whose agenda has been being advanced these last 7 years junior.
Instead you lay blame at Republican feet instead of the bambastard that you try to cleverly protect, every damn chance you get and its ffing sickening to me that others don't call you on your duplicity and RINO tactics. - Tyr

You can not refute nor find a good way to spin away from it.
So like so many times before you use that "blah blah crap' and then pretend that you've prove something to be false....
Such childish tactics fool nobody except maybe some fool that already agrees with your views, tactics and dishonorable methods.

Let me answer my own question. He's about to put 6K drug dealers on the street because dealing drugs is "non-violent". What a crock of sh*t THAT is. I guess providing a slow death is better than just shooting someone.

Hmmm.

The Justice Department is set to release about 6,000 inmates early from prison — the largest one-time release of federal prisoners — in an effort to reduce overcrowding and provide relief to drug offenders who received harsh sentences over the past three decades, according to U.S. officials. The inmates from federal prisons nationwide will be set free by the department’s Bureau of Prisons between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2. About two-thirds of them will go to halfway houses and home confinement before being put on supervised release. About one-third are foreign citizens who will be quickly deported, officials said.
The early releases follow action by the U.S. Sentencing Commission — an independent agency that sets sentencing policies for federal crimes — that reduced the potential punishment for future drug offenders last year and then made that change retroactive.
The commission’s action is separate from an effort by President Obama (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/obama-commutes-sentences-of-46-non-violent-drug-offenders/2015/07/13/b533f61e-2974-11e5-a250-42bd812efc09_story.html) to grant clemency to certain nonviolent drug offenders, an initiative that has resulted in the early release of 89 inmates.
The panel estimated that its change in sentencing guidelines eventually could result in 46,000 of the nation’s approximately 100,000 drug offenders in federal prison qualifying for early release. The 6,000 figure, which has not been reported previously, is the first tranche in that process.

“The number of people who will be affected is quite exceptional,” said Mary Price, general counsel for Families Against Mandatory Minimums, an advocacy group that supports sentencing reform.

They need to quit pretending no one can see through their game. When I was a teen, you didn't bust the user and setting them up was entrapment. Until some moron bean counter figured out pushing users through the legal system netted more revenue than setting up a dealer for months and getting a one-time bust. So they set up the addicts who just need help instead. Yet I could legally drink myself blind enough to destroy my garage.

America’s reinvention is helping it leap further ahead of the world (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/innovations/wp/2015/11/02/americas-reinvention-is-helping-it-leap-further-ahead-of-the-world/)

Pessimists believe that the United States has peaked as a superpower and is falling behind in education, research and development, and economic growth. They say the country’s best days are behind it.

Fortunately, they are wrong. Not only is the United States leading a technology revolution that will help solve the grand challenges of humanity — problems such as disease, hunger and shortages of energy and clean water — it is increasing its lead on the rest of the world. By combining its entrepreneurial strengths with its creativity, it is reinventing itself (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/innovations/wp/2014/01/02/how-the-united-states-is-reinventing-itself-yet-again/) once again.

A new report from the Council on Foreign Relations, Keeping the Edge (http://www.cfr.org/innovation/keeping-edge-us-innovation/p37127), is one in a series that analyzes where the United States stands in key dimensions of economic competitiveness. It concludes that on innovation, which drives rising living standards in the advanced economies, no other country is even close. For example:

–Of the top 20 universities in the world that produce the highest-impact scientific research, 16 are in the United States.

–Total U.S. research & development spending — most of it by companies — is higher as a share of the economy than at any other time since the early 1960s when the space program was starting. In absolute terms, no other country invests nearly as much in R&D as the United States, and in relative terms only Japan is close. And in a recent survey, the average U.S. corporation said it planned to boost research spending this year by nearly twice the rate of its international competitors.

–The share of the U.S. economy that comes from knowledge-intensive industries has risen sharply over the past decade, reaching nearly 40 percent; no other large economy has even hit 30 percent.
