"An Arizona man left his 5-year-old granddaughter alone in the desert with a loaded handgun while he went to get drinks and a cheeseburger, investigators (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/11/03/man-left-granddaughter-in-desert-with-gun-while-grabbed-cheeseburger-officials/?intcmp=hphz24#)said Monday.
Maricopa County authorities say 53-year-old Paul Armand Rater is being held on suspicion of two counts of child abuse (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/11/03/man-left-granddaughter-in-desert-with-gun-while-grabbed-cheeseburger-officials/?intcmp=hphz24#) and one count of child endangerment.
Rater took his granddaughter for a ride in the desert in his new pickup truck Sunday. He told authorities the vehicle got stuck and they had to walk for help because he left his cellphone (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/11/03/man-left-granddaughter-in-desert-with-gun-while-grabbed-cheeseburger-officials/?intcmp=hphz24#) at home.
Rater says he left the girl under a tree with a gun when she couldn't walk anymore.
A helicopter later located the uninjured girl in rough terrain. She was still holding the .45 pistol, Fox 10 reports (http://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/arizona-news/43587190-story).
Rater was found eating and drinking at a restaurant."

Well that is just insane!

Why didn't he pick her up and carry her?

Holy Sweet Jesus, some people are so stupid.

I'd stomp his sorry ass until he was halfway dead.
And be wishing I could get by with going all the way.--Tyr

...Your so right Elessar...sometimes I feel its not even worth figuring out some folks...gives me a headache wondering if they are stupid...foolish...Ignorant or just mentally handicapped...

I am glade the little girl made it...and people were able to hear her tiny voice...she had someone looking after her...

Tyr, I bet if you did, he'd stop leaving his granddaughter in the desert. :salute:

Hell, he'd move where there aren't any deserts, trust me on that my friend! ;)

Only ever had to repeat a few ass stompings out of over a hundred that I gave out in my long life.
But those few were against truly bad-ass dudes that thought a few weeks training would give 'em the edge next go round, so came back for seconds- all were stomped even more 2nd time. Nobody ever came back for thirds.
And in the times I got my ass defeat(never stomped)- (other than by my older brother), I was smart enough to take my damn lumps and not go back for more! Guy was better-or at least better that night.,
Any man fights enough against truly tough opponents, no matter how tough he is, he will lose some. A fact.
A fact that I know myself from first hand experience!:laugh::laugh:--Tyr

Fred explains the six type of lessons, and their effectiveness:

1. Fred gets a friendly suggestion to do something - 1% effective
2. Fred gets a polite request to do something - 3% effective
3. Fred gets told to do something or someone else will suffer unfortunate consequences - 10% effective
4. Fred gets told to do something or Fred will suffer unfortunate consequences - 50% effective
5. Fred gets told to do something or Fred will get his butt kicked - 75% effective
6. Fred gets his butt kicked first, then is told it will happen a second or third time if he doesn't do something - 99.99% effective.

BACK IN MY WILD YOUNGER DAYS I PRIMARILY WENT WITH THE NUMBERS 5 and 6 OPTIONS..
Only after his ass-stomping , the victim was told if he ever does that again its coming twice as hard next time.-Tyr

Almost forgot - Sam's Corollary Lesson:

Sam sees or hears about Fred experiencing steps 5 and 6, and suddenly steps 1 and 2 are 99% effective with Sam.

Reputation has its rewards .. In some cases it prevents fools from getting themselves hurt.
Sadly , it also draws bigger fools into wanting to defeat the tough guy to build their own reputation.
Doesn't matter if it was guns/pistols with cowboys or bare fists back in my day.
Cycle perpetuates itself.
Best decision I ever made was to stop being a bouncer.
The desire to abate my inner anger by treating myself to 'frequent releases' in a job and getting paid to do so
became over time a cure pretty much--plus age became a factor as did--wisdom! -Tyr
