View Full Version : Sanders trouncing Trump, media ignores

This is something I know some won't like, but it's something we have to take seriously. If Trump can't beat Hillary or Sanders, then we have an issue if he wins the nomination. The Democrats are worse, and are going to likely push for Hillary no matter what. They would vote for her if she were in jail. She could kill their family members and they would still vote for her. And if she says "vote Sanders", well then they will. The character of their candidate matters not to them, nor their track record.
Anyway. And many of you know how I feel about polls. But if we get close and closer, and these polls continue as such, then what? I'd rather see Carson, Cruz or Fiorina in there than someone who literally doesn't care about her country. We are teetering on the edge with all of the damage that Obama has done, and then add in all of the COTUS grabs he has done and such. Now what happens if she were able to continue?
With that said, this is the same poll that has Carson in front of Trump, while the majority of polls still have Trump in front. One poll shouldn't send people into a panic... And many will find anything to jump on Trump about, or now even Sanders, as they're the front runners.
-----
In an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Tuesday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leads Donald Trump in a presidential match-up by 9 points, 50 percent to 41 percent. In another recent poll, from CNN/ORC, Sanders also leads the GOP front-runner by 9, 53 percent to 44 percent. In a third poll, from Quinnipiac, Sanders leads Trump by 2 points, 46 percent to 44 percent. And in the summary polling from RealClearPolitics, as of Wednesday morning, he leads Trump by 3.2 points, 46.6 percent to 43.4 percent.
If NBC or Telemundo is granted permission by Republicans to host a GOP debate — or perhaps during a Trump performance hosting “Saturday Night Live” for 90 minutes, which would be an unseemly gift granted to a presidential candidate by a television network — Trump might be asked this fair question by a panelist who would soon be attacked for liberal bias:
What would it suggest about American politics, and how should Republicans react, if future polls track the NBC/Wall Street Journal and CNN/ORC polls and Bernie Sanders — or Hillary Clinton — appears poised to defeat the GOP nominee by 9 points in an epic landslide that could well bring Democrats back to power in Congress?
Would Trump, who constantly cites his strength in polling and who has called on competitor Jeb Bush to drop out of the race, drop out himself to prevent every branch of government from being controlled by Democrats, led by the democratic socialist Sanders or Clinton, the latest GOP Public Enemy No. 1?
If Trump were to read this column he might call me a “dope,” as he called the widely respected journalist John Harwood of CNBC, a network not known for having socialist sympathies, or perhaps he would call me a “bimbo,” as he tweeted about the widely respected host Megyn Kelly of Fox News, which has certainly never been accused of liberal bias. He might even try to get me fired as a columnist, a practice he famously perfected on “The Apprentice.”
The question I pose about Sanders beating Trump is highly plausible, because it is based on hard data from two recent polls, including from The Wall Street Journal, hardly a bastion of liberal bias.
On one level let’s give Trump great credit. In this campaign he has been — literally — the most brilliant manager of television news in the modern history of presidential politics. In the years I worked for Democratic leaders, if I had achieved for them the near total domination of network and cable television news coverage that the real estate tycoon has achieved, I would have received the most generous raise in congressional staff history.

The problem with that poll is that there are only 3 Dems vs 10 Reps running.
I'd be inclined to take those numbers a bit more seriously if it were 3 vs 3... Sanders enjoys a more unified support simply because there aren't as many candidates.

I agree, young lad! It just got me thinking was all. Who has the best choice against the beotch, and in what order? I'd just hate to see someone run away with the primaries and then crash in the general.

Yeah, that's always a concern to Crash & Burn... especially if there's a nasty skeleton in the closet that wasn't unearthed prior to the nomination.
I really think any of the candidates running in the top spots will easily beat her. And I'm positive that Sanders can't win in any case, even in a matchup against Rand Paul. People will vote against Sanders just because he's a commie, regardless of who his opponent is, IMO.

I hope you guys are right. Trump is still #1 in my book, I just don't want to make a mistake is all. Personally, I think the top 5 on are side would beat either of them too. The fact that democrats support Hillary at ALL though makes me shake my head. This truly proves that they are retarded. Retarded people with access to vote scares me. And anyone with a brain knows what I mean when I use the word retarded as such. So if someone else has an issue with me using that word, the "R" word, bite my ass! :)

How can you ever know for sure? The elite Republicans tried to convince us that McCain was a winner. And then Romney. We can't listen to any of them.
I am still pulling for Cruz, Carson, and Trump.

Best chance to win general? Rubio, Jeb (puke), Huckabee. I don't know how Christie would do. Carson has huge lead over Hillary in the polls, but I don't know how long that will last. Carly is my candidate, but I don't know how long she will stay in.

Black Diamond, I was very early a supporter of Fiorina. Heck, I even donated to her campaign. But as of lately, I have given up on her; I don't think she has a chance. But I would like to see her as VP or some other important position. But what I would really, really like is to see her debate Hillary. She would treat Hillary like chewing tobacco: chew her up and spit her out!

I think it's been obvious that I like Dr. Carson very much. If it turns out that he cannot beat Hillary, then I think the smart move is to back Rubio. I expect he will have wider appeal than most of the candidates, and could get a decent amount of the Hispanic vote.

`Marco Rubio has supported H1B1 visas for illegals in the past and hasn’t promoted American workers who are being replaced by low-wage immigrants. Some are flown over to work cheap for big corporations. For example, Disney forced American workers to train low-wage immigrants to take over their jobs.
Rubio backs the H1B visa which Trump describes as the “high tech” visa’s. He states that they take middle class well paying jobs away from Americans.
Mr Rubio’s message has been slightly distorted since he has been running for President.
`Rubio has demanded more H1=B’s programs for immigrants. Senator Rubio has been the top promoter in Congress for expanding the H-1B program even though millions of American tech workers are out of jobs. Rubio’s new bill triples H-1Bs and has zero protections for American workers. Advocates for tech workers said Rubio’s bill would “destroy” the U>S> tech workforce. (source: Breitbart.com)
Trump insists that Rubio is working for the lobbyists and not American workers. Silicone Valley billionaires contributed to his campaign so Trump shouts out that Rubio is the “Silicone Valley Puppet.” Disney’s CEO supports Rubio’s bill because they’ll hire low-wage workers. This bill is crippling to American citizens.
When the tide changes in a debate such as Rubio’s Bill, he seems to be doing the opposite of what he says. The informed voter should “think twice” before selecting a candidate like Rubio. He has walked the walk from billionaires, but he isn’t walking the walk for US jobs. American jobs need and must be filled by Americans first, not by H1b’s immigrants from Mexico and South America or everywhere but inside The USA,

Perhaps, perhaps. But at some point they have to bring it down. Granted it's not nascar, but they should in fact follow a similar model for the debates. Maybe drop down 2 of them per debate, or 4 of them for every 3? Those on the ends of the podium seem to get missed out on a lot of questions. One of the only solutions would be to extend the debates, which nobody wants to do. Now, are their numbers that low because they are on the ends, or because that's just how it is from their campaigning? I think it's more about just who they are, and their campaigns. Rand Paul - no matter how much time you give him he is simply not going to win this race. Same with Kasich. Huckabee has been cooked for awhile, IMO. Is Graham or Pataki even up there anymore? Or Jindal?
Some are teetering on the edge. Ya can't just fire them. But eventually they need to clean up the debates and allow for us folks to actually learn some stuff from a normally timed debate. I think everyone can agree that the debates have sucked for various reasons thus far, time being one of them, and a few of them royally sucking as another. :)

I think everyone can agree that the debates have sucked for various reasons thus far, time being one of them, and a few of them royally sucking as another. :)
If they are done with huck and Christie, they should go down to six. And then should be six for a long while.

Perhaps, perhaps. But at some point they have to bring it down.

A little early IMO because Santorum and Huckabee were not the nominees the past two cycles and we didn't have a candidate of Guiliani or Cain.

Probably too late.. but maybe MORE debates, and then the ability to drop some sooner. If a candidate is going to run the country, surely having a couple of debates isn't a big deal in the long run.

And speaking of which, while reading Newsmax, here is an article detailing 7 reasons as to why Christie and Huckabee still belong on the stage...
-----
1. They have more experience than many — Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has more than 10 years of experience overseeing an executive office, and current New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has five. That means both have far more experience in office than Donald Trump, Ben Carson, and Carly Fiorina — all of whom have none. Having both won governorships and successfully defended them to win second terms, both men contribute real, hands-on knowledge whenever they debate, and relegating them to the undercard stage next week squanders their value.
2. They are leaders of the party — Huckabee and Christie have a long track record with the Republican party, having fundraised tens of millions of dollars, and helped many down-ticket candidates get a leg up. This is not something that can be said of current frontrunners Ben Carson or Donald Trump. Moreover, Huckabee broadcast conservative principles to millions each week as a Fox News host. As chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Christie was instrumental in forming the GOP wave that swept the 2014 elections.
3. They are lifelong conservatives — Both current frontrunners, Ben Carson and Donald Trump, have been registered Democrats in the past, according to The Daily Caller and Politifact. Huckabee and Christie are lifelong conservatives.
4. Competition is good for the party — Unlike the Democrats, who have effectively crowned Hillary Clinton with the nomination, the Republican field is more robust, diverse, and knowledgeable than it has ever been. Taking Huckabee and Christie's ideas off the main stage reduces competition, something that's fundamentally anti-American.
5. They fight back against the liberal mainstream media — As a former Fox News host, outspoken Christian, and heartland governor, Huckabee is hated by coastal liberals, aka the mainstream media. Likewise, Gov. Christie got unnecessarily dogpiled over Bridge-gate (he was proven innocent) for being an outspoken, tough-talking conservative with a record of getting stuff done. During the last debate, Huckabee refused to take the bait offered up by CNBC's moderators, and complimented Donald Trump instead of attacking him. Christie shut down the moderators when they drifted away from policy questions, calling them "rude."
6. They are effective at criticizing Hillary Clinton — During the last Democratic primary debate, Huckabee live tweeted throughout, and drew clear, effective lines of attack against the likely nominee. "At #DemDebate, Hillary will demonstrate her high level of intelligence by managing to remember, on every issue, the side she's currently on," he tweeted. During the last Republican debate, Christie praised his party, and bashed the other side. "I don’t see a lot of weakness on this stage, quite frankly. Where I see the weakness is in those three people that are left on the Democratic stage. You know, I see a socialist, an isolationist and a pessimist," he said. "I know who the pessimist is. It’s Hillary Clinton. And you put me on that stage against her next September, she won’t get within 10 miles of the White House. Take it to the bank."
7. They fight for religious freedom — Huckabee has a long record of speaking out on behalf of religious freedom, and most recently visited Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis after she was thrown in jail over her refusal to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Gov. Christie also has a strong record on religious freedom, and vowed to veto any bill legalizing same-sex marriage. In winning the governorship, he also became New Jersey's first pro-life executive since Roe v. Wade. Taking Huckabee and Christie off the main stage is a blow to religious freedom and the voices who defend it.
