View Full Version : What kind of President do you want?

There are various comments here about how {fill in the blank} can't make an effective President because he/she "does not know how to lead", or "has no leadership experience". I've seen it about Trump, Carson, and others.
It amuses me that someone who heads billion dollar corporations with thousands of employees, or successfully heads the entire Neurosurgery department at arguably the finest hospital in the country, is deemed "not a leader".
Yet, a guy who perhaps spent a term or two in government office is such a leader. It doesn't even make sense.
Give me a guy who commanded in the military, ran a business, or made life and death decisions any day. They are proven leaders. Not the political dweebs who figured out how to get their egos boosted while not-working for a living.

One that recognizes the law
One that doesn't ignore illegals
One that isn't a racist and represents everyone
One that has a brain when it comes to the economy
Someone that has a set of balls - for both dealing with foreign countries, and destroying terrorists
Someone who doesn't use the tax money for his/her spouse to take endless vacations
Someone who will stand tall against countries like Iran
Someone who will not turn a blind eye to security issues like Hillary Clinton's server

All excellent characteristics/beliefs that we do not have in the Oval Office currently.
I have one overriding sine qua non for my President:
Someone who has Integrity.

I think that person would be Carson, but I'm not convinced he can take the office yet. But I love him, more so than I did in the beginning.

In my mind, I put him in the category of "too good a guy for politics". The system tends to chew up a guy like him, while the Hillarys thrive on their deceit and total lack of integrity.
Maybe this time will be different?

It would be a nice change, to see such a soft spoken man addressing the country, and TRULY believing that he has the countries best interest in his heart. He's done pretty good so far in taking the shit tossed at him in stride.
meanwhile, the other side is fully embracing a scandal ridden criminal.

I really like Carson. I've been watching him for a while and he is learning the game. He is not afraid to take on the news media and has a unique way of campaigning that makes me believe he has a shot. Just wish he would drink more coffee.

Me.
But I agree with Carson. The leftwingnut hype machine has gone into action because he got too high in the polls. While it may sound exciting, being in the military or even being an electrician is tedious, long and boring and you have to get it right. Go ahead and screw up wiring a hot 480v panel.
What that tells ME is a man who can stand in surgery for a day and not screw up knows his stuff. He's not gong to get rattled and he's going to think things through before he makes a move. The MSM hasn't even managed to get him flustered.
And I don't give a damn what he did when he was a kid.

Someone who obeys the constitution
Someone who knows the constitution
Someone who isn't afraid that terrorist or lobbyist will kill us all if we obey the constitution.
Someone who tells the american public the truth about how U.S. gov't works and what it can and cannot do even if they don't like it.
for a start...

I want a president who is elected by a popular vote of the people of the United States. :salute:
You can discuss merits and qualities all you want. But that is never going to be what you get. Campaign promises are made to be broken, and they almost always are.
How you view the POTUS is almost entirely dependent on your political viewpoint.

I want a President who has the BALLS, Intelligence, and Intestinal Fortitude to recognize the difference between Right and Wrong. Legal and Illegal, and calls a SPADE A SPADE...as in Identifying Islamic Terrorists without being worried as to whether SOME of our friends, or Enemies might be Offended.
Then again. I understand....That is no longer possible in the PC world of Stupid.

I'm with Gunny on this one. I'll take the guy who is steady and reliable under fire and has the presence of mind to react efficiently and effectively in any circumstance. That takes integrity, common sense (and intelligence) and knowledge. Guys like Carson are also good at assembling teams of the right people to get the job done. He wont put some idiot in charge of anything just because of political skullduggery.

BULLSHIT. How I view the President depends on the Constitutionality of his actions. Obama's been a trainwreck to that little piece of paper that is supposedly the law of our land. He
s completely left Congress out of the lawmaking process since the second the GOP got control.

You would fit a TON of my qualifications. I'm tired of the ninnies, the PC crap, the defense of illegals, and those too soft on foreign relations and the war on terror. You would have my vote!!

We saw that happen with Obama being elected. He had a mantra .. 'hope and change'. He didn't truthfully and candidly explain what he meant by that. But, it resonated with people, and 'a popular vote of the people' saw him elected. On the strength of a soundbyte !
I think truthfulness, being candid, being REPUTABLE, and genuinely standing for the values your country is supposed to stand for itself, SHOULD be a better recipe for a worthwhile President. Not a narcissistic appeasement-monger, applying a Socialist agenda at odds with the very foundling spirit America was founded upon !
But maybe that's just me.

Need to lighten up, Francis. Just humor. Crap, how many times have I said vote for me? I'd be your worst nightmare. There'd be a whole lot of paper going in the shredder. * years worth of Executive orders comes to mind. Then the tax code. Then IRS employees would be looking for jobs. And ISS would be looking for a hole to crawl into.
