Didn't see this coming -- no Democratic candidate has won a statewide race in Louisiana since 2008. In the current political climate, I wouldn't expect a Dem win in the Deep South.
In addition to losing the governor's race, Republican candidate David Vitter announced he would vacate his U.S. senate seat when his term ends next year.

Not completely surprising, Louisiana politics is a different animal and they dragged up some previous Vitter dirt.
