View Full Version : Thanksgiving Dinner

I cooked nearly all of Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I like to let the spices in the dressing do their magic over time.

Turkey
Cornbread dressing
Macaroni and cheese (new recipe this year; it is tasty)
Mashed potatoes
Whole kernel corn
Rolls
Giblet gravy
Brownies for dessert

I will be having dinner with the only family I have: my precious daughter. We will have dinner ready right at game time (Cowboys-Panthers). We don't need a big family. We are quite happy with who we've got. Quality over quantity, I suppose.

But I got to thinking... if I had to invite someone else to share dinner with us, who would it be? Who would you like to share Thanksgiving meal with?

This is queer. My posting is not showing up as it should. I made some changes to Chrome settings. I suspect I should change it back.

Abbey, you are a very nice person.

Also, I didn't really thank you for the dance video you posted the other day. I really liked it and have watched it several times. I was thinking of it today.

So polite to yourself! :)

We're having the typical stuff, but we're eating early today, like 1:30!! I need to get an appetite, or just eat leftovers later on! Kids decision though, I was overruled, again.

Oh, my! Can you share what caused the amputation? Was it above the knee or below?

I dare you to bring him a turkey leg and tell him it's a replacement!!

I'm sorry, had to! No offense. :) Hope he's doing awesome and on his way to a quick recovery. I'm just a jerk is all, that's what I would do.

its been a long time battle with both legs. but the constant formation of blood clots, the artery and smaller vessels closing up there was nothing left to do. we were hoping they could wait till after the holidays but the surgeon said no. its gotta come off now. he's really down and out so were gonna try and cheer him up. my sister did not say if he has a knee or not. we'll know later today. and we have bad weather moving in

well the turkey is large enough we can save him some. unless he's on a diet or restriction maybe we can take some later. he's still in ICU today. shitty way to spend Thanksgiving huh ???

No doubt, no doubt. Sorry you and the family are going through this, and through the holiday season. I would make the best of it. Bring in a ton of the food and maybe kind of make him feel like Thanksgiving came to him? But I doubt you can get away with that in the ICU. :(

namvet, I know this is difficult to deal with right now. But there is a bright side. I have cared for many patients who have amputations. Often the dogging problems are gone after the amputation and the patient can go on to live a normal life, without the trouble-causing leg.

I wish the best for him.

Perianne. I kept it simple. I used to go all out. But, it is just too time consuming and I just want to be thankful, not exhausted.

I made a pork loin. Rather than gravy We had au'jus
Baked potatoes
Caesar salad
Yeast rolls

Made it a lot ore enjoyable. And, not do not watch football, or parades.

Your Thanksgiving dinner sound yummy.

It's just the three of us living nearby now, and a big turkey meal seems kind of overboard for us. So, we went here this year. It was very good.

Your meal sounds tasty, too! Thanksgiving is our major holiday of the year. We love my dressing. I made nearly everything yesterday, so today is just throw it in the oven.

I love homemade dressing. Used to make it every year. But, I haven't made any for years.

I used to cook for 2 days, and clean for 4.

No pictures to share, as I ate it all. I was dragging around all day today and was wondering why. I forgot I was a fat bastard yesterday! Just gimme the turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. I ate an awful lot of the mashed, and literally ate all the stuffing once the other 2 got their share. I think I gained like 26lbs.

My little Chihuahua got his own turkey dinner. I think I over-fed the little slob. He crapped on the floor overnight and then puked just outside the back steps this morning, and it was all turkey. :puke:

Cat had turkey too, but he's not as much of a slob, and sneaky Porter probably ate his too when I wasn't looking.
