Great idea. Should work as well as the laws against murder, theft and assault. Dangerous drugs too.

In a related story, authorities confirmed that automobiles killed far more people last year than guns did. In the wake of this report, the New York Times is using space on its front page to call for greater restrictions on cars and trucks. They suggest drastically reducing the number of cars and trucks on the roads, and even "eliminating some large categories of cars and gasoline". SUVs, pickup trucks, and vehicles weighing more than 2,600 pounds would be banned if the Times' recommendations were adopted.

Well, no they didn't. But it would make just as much sense (i.e. none) if they did call for such restrictions on cars based on the fact that they kill more people than guns.
