The "gifts for members" thread is all nice and shit, but what did y'all get your spouses? Mine specified nothing that couldn't be used up. No Jewelry. No perfume. I did the Sherries Berries thing before and that ran its course. I can't buy her clothes. So this year I gave her some one ounce silver coins. I figure they would be good for bartering when the shit hits the fan. I gave them to my kids as well. It's now part of my survivalist portfolio.

I'm getting mine a gun to shoot me with if I have this baby 24-7 much longer.
Against my better judgment, I got my wife a puppy.

You know how warped I am. I'm picturing in my mind doing an about face to report the company to the SgtMaj and he's got a puppy bouncing around his ankles. I can normally keep my game face, but I think THAT might ruin the show. :laugh2:

It's pretty funny how things "shift" as time goes on.
My Lady doesn't wear jewelry, nor is she attracted to flowers nor fancy things.
So this year, she's getting power tools. Like this one;

Sounds like the year I bought my wife my favorite gun. :)

I'm gonna get her a new Keurig coffee machine, a new hard drive for her computer, a new pair of headphones, a new terrible towel and maybe tickets to a game at Heinz Field. Think she would see through it? :)

You can do that but you and I know that not one man better so much as crack a grin.

I'd be facing away from the company so no one would see it but you. You can chew my ass later.

I would NEVER admonish any soldier/Marine in front of the troops .... it's bad for morale.... whippings, on the other hand ....
Not my spouse, but regardless - Got a few books, concert tickets for next year, and a Star Wars vinyl.
Main gift is a playmat with art of her fav character, and a commander for her deck (which she was having to proxy with a colour printout because she has expensive tastes ^,^)

Gunner Brown. He'd look at you and offer you a choice .... charge sheet, or you go out back and put the gloves on with him. Dude was a riot. I actually let him win. I was a trained boxer. Better than charges. All because we stole 1/4's beer. They left it out in the open unguarded. WTF?

I'm going to make a separate thread about this in military, I really don't like hijacking threads.

I have never exchanged gifts with my husband. It is a tradition that goes back several generations, where someone declared "Christmas is for children."
My sister and her husband exchange cheap gag gifts.

Nice. My wife is sexist as all heck, insist that power tools be the sole purview of her man. I have bought her kitchen gadgets in the past, but that doesn't meet her current specification.

Here's the fun part. Since I am home (she's a school teacher and gone weekdays) and do 99% of the cooking, she 's getting me my choice of appliances.
I like cooking, so this is gonna be a tough choice (lol)

Rule #!: NO kitchen gadgets. Women want goofy crap. Kitchen gadgets are just you telling them to get in the kitchen. Practicality has no place in shopping for womens' gifts. We want tools. They want froo-froo crap.

Back when she was coaching I took over the cooking about 90%. Now I'm back to around 40%.

Mine doesn't abide by this rule whatsoever. Our first Christmas together I bought her a Really Good set of jumper cables. Her '66 Mustang was prone to a dead battery. She loved it.
Our first Christmas as a married couple, I went to an area shopping center where dozens of guys were coming out of stores with tiny little boxes. I came out with a huge box, heavy as hell, and struggled to get it in the back of my hauler back then, an '81 Ford Escort. It was a kitchen cart made out of rock maple. She loved it.

I do all the grilling. She can't even turn it on without screwing that up.

This is the first year since I was young that I won't have a feller of some kind around at Christmas. I don't know whether to be happy or sad.

I had a feller a couple of weeks ago, but he bored me.
A friend of mine's wife booted him out of the house, and I met him at his hotel with a bottle of scotch. He said one of the best lines I ever heard about women, which would apply equally to men:
"They are like busses."
My reply: "What?"
"There's always another one on it's way wanting to pick you up."

I can't post what I got Sharon for Christmas because she's on this board.
Funny story about it, though, that I'll share tomorrow.

One Valentines day my husband bought me a compound miter saw.
I like to do wood work around the house and he thought that was appropriate
Don't get me wrong, I loved it. But Valentines day? :laugh2:
