Has anything good ever come from Africa?

The Zika virus is likely to spread across nearly all of the Americas, the World Health Organization has warned.

The infection, which causes symptoms including mild fever, conjunctivitis and headache, has already been found in 21 countries in the Caribbean, North and South America.

It has been linked to thousands of babies being born with underdeveloped brains and some countries have advised women not to get pregnant.

No treatment or vaccine is available.

The virus is native to Africa and was first found to be spreading in the Americas in Brazil in May 2015.

The lack of any natural immunity in the Americas is thought to be helping the infection to spread rapidly.

It's actually a beautiful place. Too bad they don't have much oil or we'd care about them.

Of course, many people cared very much about the African people. So much, in fact, they stole them for slaves to prove it.

I wonder if it is the lack of substantial arable land that hurt Africa the most?

It's a lack of oil. Look how quick we are to jump into the Middle East and that place is a kitty litter box full of Arabs still living in the 7th century.

Africa has been exploited because of the same mindset in the ME -- there's no education nor progress. They're STILL engaging in tribal warfare. No one "stole" anyone for slaves. Slavery was legal in a lot of places in the world and has been since the first tribe kicked another's butts. It still goes on, it's just called something else. It was called sweat shops in the North before and after the US Civil.

A tribe would defeat and enslave another tribe, then sell them to Dutch traders. Blacks are quick to blame us, but we weren't the ones that rounded them up and sold them off. Other blacks did.

When you get inside Africa, it's no different than it was 2 hundred or two thousand years ago. The modern world has no vested interest in the place. An interesting aspect of that is those people will still be there long after we are gone. You stick most Americans, especially lefties, ina grass hut and jungle and see how you make do. Africans make do with whatever they have.

I'd say we should show a vested interest at least as far as medical goes. Should've bought medicine food and clothing for Africans with Iran's money. Would have been put to better use.

Has anything good ever come from Africa?

Sure. Modern humans.

Besides, it's not Africa's problem you have no natural immunity.

We also got Boko Haram from Africa.

We also got Boko Haram from Africa.

Islamic extremists from the North have infiltrated Africa. They destroy entire villages of Christians, and the Fathers and nuns that are their to provide relief and assistance and education. Unfortunately, as in the ME, these peasant farmers are not equipped mentally nor physically to deal with an organized army of Islamic d*ckheads.

We know it's happening; yet, we sit by and do nothing while an at of religious genocide is being pulled off.

Actually, Nigeria has huge oil reserves.

The rebels there attack the offshore platforms occasionally.

Been there several times. What's the point? Starving infected babies look like starving infected babies. They aren't sub-human because of their skin color. They didn't ask to be brought into this world. A quarter of them are rape babies from Islamic or tribal militia. My first trip the Gunny came into berthing and said take this, take that and this and that. We're all like, we don't need to hump this shit, Gunny. He just gave us that Gunny look and we started loading up.

Our packs were empty when we went back aboard ship. Every pair of socks, t-shirts, food ... name it. We even managed to "lose" a few E-tools. That 3 ft long shovel might seem trivial to some of us, but that was a farm implement to them.

Deja vu, my last deployment part of broke off and went to Kenya. And I was the Gunny. Take this, take that, take these ... but Gunny, we don't need to hump this shit ......

But our President would have you believe that every person deserves a cell phone.

They think soon it will be infecting people here in the USA.

Experts are worried that the virus is spreading far and fast, with devastating consequences.

The infection has been linked to cases of microcephaly, in which babies are born with underdeveloped brains.

The WHO alert puts Zika in the same category of concern as Ebola.
