That is hilarious! :laugh2:

I also love the way "hoe" is spelled like the gardening tool.
Maybe the song was written by a bitter farmer...

No one's entitled to an opinion but you, huh? I think there's a CLEAR line between the former and the latter. There's no music if you can't hear the words, and ther is no meaning if the words don't impart a message. "You a stupid ho'" is hardly bringing anything intelligent into a conversation. Here's a song with some meaning:

Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)
Don McLean (https://www.google.com/search?biw=1920&bih=967&q=don+mclean&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAONgVuLQz9U3MMowyAIA2OFg5wwAAAA&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwinkO6c8svKAhVY4mMKHes-BWsQMQgeMAA)

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night

You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you

Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frame less heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget

Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now, I think I know what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity

You can take your "hoe" and get busy in the GF's garden.

I'm sure that kids and young adults of today will be telling their kids when they're older just how awesome and classic the music was of their time. For example, I have a LOT of music associated with the end of high school for me, and the few years afterwards. I'm sure folks of today are also associating the music with their experiences. It's what's on the radio most and what's in the stores most, and of course what tours the most since "our" musicians of our day are dying or dead mostly!

BUT, yes, if they are all alive at the same time, and the folks of today, and the folks of the past, could all equally judge the bands of their time as they're all playing at the same time...

Then today's folks would know just how much better Zeppelin was! And Iron Maiden of the 80's, Pink Floyd, Stones, Aerosmith, Queen, U2, Guns 'n Roses, Motley Crue, Springsteen, AC/DC, Mettalica...

Read your previous post. You think I like my "high school music"? Disco was in when I was in high school. I STILL listen to 50s, 60s, early 70s, skip to the mid 90s music. I try and pretend disco and the 80s never happened.

I wouldn't compare the music of Led Zeppelin to anyone or thing named Florence. There can be only one, and there's only one Led Zeppelin.

People like whatever they like with their different tastes, but regardless you have no cause to refer to other people as 'things'

Speaking of great artists -such as Florence- I was fortunate enough to see singer/songwriter Sóley last night, you should give a listen Gunny, her latest album is filled to bursting pensive and reflective songs.

Was thinking about this last night, matter of fact. Few remakes are as good as the original, but there are exceptions. Bobby Bare put Unchained Melody on the map. The song had been around for 30 years prior to his rendition.

I actually like Behind Blue Eyes by Fred Durst better than the original by the Who.

They are the exception though, rather than the rule. Bad Company by Five Finger Death Punch SUCKS. Whichever band remade Simple Man (I think two different ones did) need to toss their guitars in the creek. I loved Elvis but his rendition of Unchained Melody blows chunks.

You couldn't remake "As Time Goes By" and you couldn't remake "What a Wonderful World".

You're on notice. I can play this on guitar. I'm going to break down and watch the vid.

I like the original by S&G better. But I'm older than dirt. The remake is okay and I can see why some might appreciate it. I'm really not very judgmental about music. Certain things touch all of us for different reasons. My original point was someone telling us what not to tell him about music. And I am just as judgmental as anyone when you want to tell me 4 hateful words equal an entire song. Our music back in the day was about anger, not hate. There's a difference.
