HOW in the world? WHERE does he think this money would come from? Just the sheer amount of numbers, folks going to college - then add in the influx of folks once it's found out that it's free. He wants to make tuition free at all public colleges and universities.

Look at Penn State for an example, and yes, I understand it's a costly one, but far from the costliest.

This will be about $20k on the low end and more like about $35,000 in total - per year - per student. If I'm reading correctly, that's 84,000 students last year. Do the math, it's a little HIGH - and that's just one school.

How many public schools and universities in the USA? How many enrolled students? How much will this increase once students find out it's free? And how much will the total bill be per year for this?

And WHERE does Bernie think he is getting this money from? I can't imagine in any scenario where free college works. First off, there is NO such thing as free. Someone is paying for it. Maybe the students don't get a bill, but then the government is paying, and if they're paying - that means we ALL pay.

He has it listed on his own website. He says it will cost about $75 billion per year to pay for the schooling. He says he will get it from Wall Street speculations. I don't feel very comfortable with all of this. It doesn't add up, someone is getting freebies and someone is getting ripped off somewhere. I'd have to read up more on this to find out specifics.

In addition to the financial burden on taxpayers mentioned above, we may have unintended consequences.
Low income students who work hard in school are very often given financial aid. I think we all are good with that. Free tuition, however, may result in a very different group attending college- unqualifed/unprepared students going just because it's free. (And we know how we value things given to us that we have not earned).

Which means one of two things happens: Either we dumb down the curriculum to accommodate them, or we get a skyrocketing drop out rate.

And good students will need more than a BA to impress potential employers.

I say if you can't afford college, get out and get a job like the rest of us had to. This is just more of the same old entitlement mentality. If they tried just teaching what they were supposed to in grade school like they used to, those HS grads would be smarter than most of today's college grads are.

A tax on stock trades is all the rage among the Progressive set these days. Ever since the meltdown they've been coming up with ways to tax the free movement of securities.

It irks the sh*t out of me people think I owe them some of what I earned simply because they breath. Get a damned job.

This reminds me of a quote by the great economist Thomas Sowell:

"One of the consequences of such notions as ‘entitlements’ is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence."

Based on the way our society has been crumbling, deteriorating, and becoming LESS informed, and LESS educated (despite bragging rights of useless, liberal college professors) of the students.

Bernie Sanders stands a BETTER than Average chance of becoming the next POTUS.

He is the master of SOCIALISM, which entices the SELFISH, IGNORANT, and DEPENDENT to vote for FREE stuff they will never have to worry about paying for.

IF Sanders somehow gets his way. The 18-25 TRILLION Debt we will have will merely make us another GREECE.
