Gun-wielding protesters want Irving mosque to ‘Say No To Syrian Refugees’

IRVING — An event to welcome refugees at the Islamic Center of Irving drew a small group of camouflage-clad, gun-wielding protesters Saturday, as well as a lone counter-protester who lambasted their reliance on weapons as a “terrorist tactic.”

Such a standoff has become almost commonplace in Irving, home to the Ahmed “clock boy” controversy and a series of other tense events that have turned the city into a symbol of Islamophobia for many.

About a dozen anti-refugee protesters stood on the outskirts of the mosque’s property Saturday, waving flags and holding signs that said, “Say No To Syrian Refugees.”

The group identifies itself as the Bureau of American Islamic Relations, or BAIR – a riff on the national Muslim advocacy group CAIR, Council on American-Islamic Relations.

BAIR’s spokesman, David Wright, wore a gun on his hip and said the protesters were waiting to examine the 200-some refugees who were expected to attend.

“We want to see how many are actually women and children,” he said.

But the mosque’s leader, Imam Zia Sheikh, indicated the group may have missed the point of Saturday’s event.

He said the mosque partnered with refugee organizations that planned to bring refugees from various countries — not just Syria — to a lunch to “welcome them and make them feel at home.”

“It is not specifically Syrian,” he said.

BAIR pegged its protest as a “veterans before refugees” event, arguing that homeless vets in the Dallas area should be the priority over Syrian refugees.

“We have people here that need our help,” Wright said.

Heidi Hickman, a 35-year-old massage therapist who said she has lived in and around Irving nearly all her life, questioned why the community should have to choose.

“We can only have one or the other?” she asked.

Hickman wore oversized sunglasses, which she said helps prevent migraines that worsen her fibromyalgia, and held a sign that said, “Texas is big enough for EVERYONE, Y’ALL!!!”

“There are people who think that Texas, a state that prides itself on its size, isn’t big enough for the two of us, apparently,” she said. That’s why, she said, “I will drag my disabled [self] out of bed on a Saturday and come here and counter-protest.”

I'll bet anybody here 20 bucks that Imam lied but worded it cleverly. Any takers??

See that "planned to bring" phrase , that does not necessarily mean that he is talking about this specific group of Syrian terrorists being brought in by the obama.
Yet most would take it that it did.. These lying scum are clever, dishonorable as hell but quite clever.

Next the lone protester -- --

Sure looking for the right new clients, guys(muslim scum) that love women to rub on them in private places.
If she accepts them as clients(she is after all advertising) she will find out the hard way IMHO and perhaps justice will thus be served .-TYR
