Don't know why, but decided to try this again for fun! Let's hand out some awards and everyone gets to choose themselves. We did similar in 2008 and it was fun. You guys can either copy/paste my categories and choose your own, or even add a category and nominate someone!

Here is the thread from 8 years ago - http://www.debatepolicy.com/showthread.php?20166-2008-DP-End-of-Year-Awards

Here are the categories I came up with and my choices. I may add some more, I don't want to insult anyone!! This is all just for fun of course. :) And maybe when we reach an end to this thread we can go through all of the choices and somehow come up with a 'member of the year' award. That will be staff deciding in private. If you see the white smoke rising, you know we chose a winner!

Don't you find it the least bit ironic that the "most hated" is also the most fanatically Republican and right wing?

Here is a partial list of who I have supported politically:

By support, I mean active working for their success

Jerry Falwell, Sr. (Moral Majority)
Pat Robertson
RONALD Reagan
John Ashcroft
Congressman Mel Hancock
Senator Jim Talent
Bill Webster
Ovid Lamont age
George W Bush
Rick Perry

and many more...

Everything she's said is a baldfaced lie. I don't mind opposing viewpoints at all, it makes it fun. But at this point I seriously doubt she's been honest about one thing she's posted here.

It's all been an epic trolling expedition built on a mountain of falsehoods. I don't even think she's a she.

It comes from dealing with rodent turds like you.

Well...it is fully known you are all mouth and no substance. That comment↑ coming
from amoebae shit laying on the floor of the ocean looking up at whale turds as if they
were distant stars above.

How big of a fool are you trying to make of yourself? You certainly have the material
to do so..

I like a lot of your posts, dmp. It took me a while to get around to liking you, but now I do.

Not sure how to take that. :) I am a very sweet guy. Easily the most soulful. :D

Oh man. Thank you. I think it's my mission....

Same here, took me about 15,127 posts of his!

Dick.

I should win "most abused member," being the lone liberal and all.

Nightrain wins hands down for "most egregious abuse of power."

None of this would happen if Jim still ran this board. :(

I take HUGE exception with what you wrote Gab. You are NOT abused. You're a passive-aggressive troll. You come on here and insult the very fabric of America - a fabric woven by men and woman VASTLY your superior in terms of moral courage. You poke and you poke and you insult and you whine and the SECOND You are called-out for your bullshit you play the victim. Here's a typical interaction:

Gabby: Veterans are assholes.
Veterans: Fuck you, you ungrateful dick.
Gabby: SEE? I was ATTACKED ONLY FOR expressing MY OPINION!!!
Veterans: No, dickhead, you were attacked because your OPINIONS prove you are a douche canoe.

Just reading through some of these -

Here's a category - without talking exactly about sex in a personal way...Which DP user would you most like to wake-up to and have a morning conversation? Either in bed or over a cup of Joe, on a porch overlooking the mountains, while still in your undies. I find post-love-making Mornings, those when you wake up a little sore but realizing you actually love this person, like, a lot. Where you can be truly intimate and open with the other person - THAT moment right there...That true and uncloaked intimate moment. Do you guys know what I mean?

Who would it be?

I think I'm pretty torn. The obvious choice is Kathianne - because I really haven't liked her at times. She infuriated me more than a few times years ago. But its because of that - and our long history on Jim's message boards - I think I'd really like to know her true self. Anyone that can piss me off interests me. As long as it's pissed-off for the right reasons. I really haven't thought this through a ton.

I LIVE for connections with people however. Years ago I lived AND died by my connections or lack-thereof. Lately though, I only like the connections - I no longer NEED them to stay emotionally grounded. What the hell am I talking about right now? You guys aren't my Therapists... :)

Well, kiddo ... I won't publicly state who that person(s) would be for me, however, I've had some PMs and phone calls with a couple of people here that made me think about packing my bags for that overnight in the mountains.

Anytime you can think of being with someone because you just "WANT' to be there is better than when you feel you "NEED" to be there. I desire to be "wanted" not "needed", however, there are some that feel loved if they are needed. Not me ... just makes me feel trapped.

At any rate, there is more than one person here who I wouldn't mind rolling over and saying to them "good morning handsome!"

Good question. Who has? Is windsong that girl from USMB? Biggest victim in the universe? You'd have thought we logged on just to screw with her. But I have to agree with Kath. I don't know about all that romantic crap, but I would really enjoy a long casual conversation with Gunny and a few of the other vets over a cup of coffee anyplace warm or even in the mountains as long as it isn't freezing.

And anytime you want to have a conversation, no problem. You remind me of my grandfather. He was the CSM of the 7th out of Benning. He'd say "Boy, don't piss me off". Otherwise he never said crap. He was EF Hutton. When he talked, you listened. Might save your life. That was one hardass MF-er. He was the only one that could dress me down. He like to call me boy a lot.

He'd say boy, you're whining your ass off ... even been in a Higgins boat? Can't say as I have. Then he'd proceed to call me parts of the female anatomy.

And I'll tell you this, Sergeant Major, I've had some of the weakest heads up the CO's asses E-9s that just put on the stripes. I don't even know who the Hell they were trying to be. You ain't going to get past SgtMaj. I'd follow you into Hell. Just give me the 60 and plenty of ammo.

Any one of those ladies would be a challenge...why else would I choose them?

Odd that you mention a Higgins boat.... rode in one of them a few times but had nothing to do with assaulting beaches. It was my mode of transportation to a remote little island off the coast of Okinawa. Swapped off with a Mike boat every other day. Did that for about 3 months.

and yeah there are some E-9s that are not worth the powder it takes to blow them away. Most of those are post Viet Nam era politicians (or so it seems to me).

Okay, here goes.

Best defender of Freedom of Speech : @jimnyc (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=1) - There's been a few times over the years where I would have just banned a problematic poster, but he stuck to his guns and let them blast away.

Most respected : @Abbey (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=11) - I can't think of one person, conservative or liberal, who didn't respect her wisdom & patience. She's kind of an anchor for all of us around here.

Most brutally honest : @dmp (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=19) and @Perianne (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2722) - Both have shared personal situations that took tremendous courage, far more than I possess. I admire that.

Most politically astute : @Kathianne (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=8) - We don't always agree, but if she gives her opinion, I take note. She's a fountain of information and can back it up in a heartbeat.

Funniest avatar : @Nukeman (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=112) - I have a weird circuit in my head that thinks his Simpsons avatar is hilarious. Just the way it's drawn, grimacing as some weird shit is about to go down!

Most helpful : @Nukeman (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=112) & @Trigg (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=113) - A while back I had a tumor that had me pretty worried. Nukey and Trigg took the CT pictures and consulted with professionals at their work in addition to my Docs. Helped me out bigtime.

Most tenacious : @Drummond (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2287) - His grim determination to never give up, never surrender reminds me of Churchill. You could not ask for a more dedicated fighter once he commits to battle.

Best Devil's Advocate : @fj1200 (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=728) - A close second in tenacity, but he has the impressive ability to argue positions contrary to his beliefs very well, just for the hell of it.

Hardest to corner in debate : @fj1200 (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=728) - Yep, a twofer! Cornering FJ in a debate is almost impossible because he can see the traps deployed and easily skirt them. Not many can do that - it's an admirable talent.

Most respected : @Gunny (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=30) @CSM (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=36) @namvet (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=574) - All of them have my utmost respect, and even though I've probably pissed all of them off. Hearing their POV always makes me take note, especially in military matters.

Sexiest woman on the planet : NT'sGirl - The most perfect wife a man could ask for. Without question, my better half.

Sexiest legs other than my wife's : @SassyLady (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=83) - One of the most charming and beautiful woman I've met who is wickedly smart and a joy to chat with on almost any subject.

Best Warrior Poet : @Tyr-Ziu Saxnot (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2275) - You don't run across a man like this very often. Someone who can deliver poetry about sunsets and swans while kicking your ass is a startling combo. Probably very unfair to the other guy.

Most Awesome Poster : @hjmick (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=208) - Just because he hates being awesome, but is awesome as a result. Also, a fine taste in dinner selections. In seriousness, though, his sense of humor & posting style slays me.

Smartest : @Little-Acorn (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=123) - I've read his posts for many years now, and he never fails to deliver impeccable logic in a superbly written post. He's kind of a Victor Davis Hanson around here.

Best Curmudgeon : aboutime - Also very tenacious and a wealth of info about the Navy, and keeps you on your toes.

Most missed : @Gaffer (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=23). RIP, my friend. I miss watching your wicked sense of humor in action around here.

Most interesting : @Balu (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3557) - When he cares to engage, I enjoy his pictures of Russia and his Russian point of view. It's a rare thing to see.

Most funny : @Jeff (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=1539) @LongTermGuy (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3378) - I'd love to sit down and have a beer and listen to some of their shenanigans. Not so sure about Jeff's dark secret regarding Granola bars, though. Closet greenie?

Most courteous : @revelarts (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=1760) - I've seen some pretty harsh things thrown at him, but he never fails to be respectful despite that. That's an admirable quality that I don't possess. He's a good man who knows his core.

Most conspiracy - minded : @revelarts (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=1760) - Yep, another twofer! Some of the ideas are pretty funny because they're so out there... but he has dug up a few that made me think. And that makes it worthwhile.

Best LEO Watchdog : @indago (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3381) - Usually the cops are trying to do the right thing, but he's had a few stories that warrant alarm from everyday civilians like me.

Most baffling : @Christie Brinkley (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3600) - I can't decide where the loyalty lies. Conservative and Liberal posts that are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I never know what to expect.

Posters that need to post more : @DLT (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3328) @KitchenKitten99 (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=24) @Sitarro (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=74) @logroller (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2030) - I enjoy reading their posts, but they're mighty scarce these days.

Best new addition to DP : @Russ (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3576) - It's apparent how you were able to nab Abbey. A great mind, logical and very well spoken and a killer sense of humor. Don't forget to post those Redhead pictures.

Most thoughtful : @Black Diamond (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2142) - Always seems to come up with another point that eluded most of us - or at least me, anyway - and a great sense of humor as well.

Most likely to tell you where the Bear Shit In The Buckwheat : @Gunny (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=30) - You never have to guess what The Gunny is thinking. I would expect no less from such a man. :drillsarge:

Most gentlemanly : @Elessar (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3442) - Chivalrous almost to a fault, something I should strive more to be. But once he decides he doesn't like someone, the assault is impressive.

Best Civilian Military Buff : @Voted4Reagan (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2278) - V4R has impressed me more than a few times of his command of historical military knowledge.

Best Liberal Member : @WiccanLiberal (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2277) - Already said it, but the nicest Liberal I've ever met. Well spoken and polite, something I'm not accustomed to from that side of the aisle. Much respect.

Kath will kill you. Might as well forget that crap. She scares ME.

I'm not all that scary, if you act right! Got that? ;)

Most Reviled : @Gnostic Christian Bishop (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3259) - Jesus loves you, but the rest of us think you're an asshole.

Most Inept Troll : @tailfins (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2229) - Somewhere along the line you thought you needed attention however you can get it, but your clumsy attempts at trolling are embarrassing. Whatever floats your boat, though.

Biggest Liar : @gabosaurus (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=111) - I think this has been talked about enough, but I'm trying to be thorough here.

Most mellowed over the years : @glockmail (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=100) - Used to be hell on wheels and extremely combative... much as I was a few years ago. I enjoy your posts these days.

I didn't mean it in a backhanded sort of way. I say that because FJ and I already discussed a particular subject and a few months later it came up again in another thread and he took the opposite stance and argued it well. I knew he didn't really back it; it was an exercise for himself. I've seen him do it a few times with others.

I've tried it a few times myself, but it never works out well for me because my heart isn't in it. A half-assed argument is going to get mauled pretty quickly.

Funnily enough (.. though, thanks for the compliment !) .. I actually DO NOT.

The future of such exchanges can follow either of two routes :

1. Cessation, with FJ posting and representing himself honestly, or ..

2. Diversion to the Cage.

If neither occurs, then FJ will go on 'ignore'. You see, I'm sick to the back teeth with all of it, and have been for a long time.

Sorry if that disappoints ... but enough is enough. I see I was billed as 'most tenacious' (which is appreciated) .. but, I fight for what's right. Always have, always will. No true Conservative should do any less than that ... EVER ... in my book.

:coffee:

Is one of them Kathianne? ;)

Best at debate - Nighttrain
Favorite - Tyr-Ziu Saxnot
Most liked - Abbey
Most hated - tailfins
Most humorous - Perianne
Best writer - Kathianne
Craziest - Psychoblues - still holds the title from 2008!
Most respectful - Wiccanliberal
Most likely to be in politics - fj1200
Rookie of the year - Russ

Member of the year - ???

I don't see no Best Asshole category. I'm starting my own gang. "White Asshole Lives Matter". Then we're going to destroy our own neighborhood.

And it all YOUR f*cking fault. :laugh2:

That's because I own that category by default, go get your own "asshole" award! :)

You don't get to play. As board owner you suck by default. Everything you do is just f-ing wrong. You probably wake up wrong. You make up specific rules just to screw with specific people. Hell. you're a miracle of modern science. Too bad the rest of your family got all the good genes.

Person most likely to be loyal to you when you don't deserve it? Jimbob.
